Your experience with the property will depend on which apartment you get. They are all individually owned. I stayed in 3 different ones - one was beautiful and well equipped, one had peeling wallpaper everywhere and no coffee maker. Good location. I will stay there again but I got the contact info for the owner of the well appointed apartment.

Your Travel Guide to Manila as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Manila from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For many Filipinos, traveling to Manila often involves a flight, especially for those coming from the Visayas or Mindanao. Major airlines operate frequent flights to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) from various provincial capitals. Fares can range significantly, but booking in advance, particularly outside of peak seasons, can help secure more affordable tickets. For instance, flights from Cebu to Manila can start from around PHP 2,000 to PHP 5,000, depending on the airline and booking time.

Traveling by bus is another common and economical option for those coming from Luzon's northern or southern regions. Companies like Victory Liner, Genesis Transport, and DLTB offer comfortable bus services to various terminals in Metro Manila. Bus fares typically range from PHP 500 to PHP 1,500, depending on the origin city and the type of bus service. The travel time can be longer, ranging from 6 to 10 hours or more, but it allows you to see more of the country.

Driving to Manila is also feasible for those with their own vehicles. Major expressways like the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) connect the capital to various provinces. Toll fees will apply, and it's important to factor these costs into your travel budget. Planning your route and checking traffic conditions beforehand is recommended, as Manila traffic can be challenging. Remember to book flight tickets if you prefer a faster mode of transport.

Best Time to Visit Manila

The ideal time to visit Manila for most Filipino travelers is during the dry season, which typically runs from November to April. During these months, the weather is generally sunny with lower humidity, making it more pleasant for exploring the city's attractions. Temperatures usually range from 24°C to 32°C. This period, however, also coincides with peak tourist season, especially around Christmas and Holy Week, so expect larger crowds and potentially higher accommodation prices.

The wet season, from May to October, brings frequent rainfall, often in the form of heavy afternoon downpours or typhoons. While this season offers fewer crowds and potentially lower prices for flights and hotels, outdoor activities can be disrupted. If you choose to visit during this time, it's wise to have indoor alternatives planned and to stay updated on weather forecasts. Traveling during the shoulder months, like November or February, can offer a good balance of favorable weather and manageable crowds.

Food and Dining Near Manila — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

No trip to Manila is complete without indulging in its diverse culinary landscape. A characteristic Filipino dish you must try is Adobo. Whether it's chicken or pork, the savory and slightly tangy flavor profile, achieved through soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns, is a national favorite. You can find excellent Adobo in many local eateries and even in more upscale restaurants across the city.

Another must-try is Sinigang, a sour and savory soup, typically made with tamarind broth. It can feature pork, beef, fish, or shrimp, along with a variety of vegetables like kangkong, radish, and tomatoes. The comforting warmth and distinct sourness of Sinigang make it a beloved dish, especially on cooler or rainy days. Many carinderias and family restaurants serve this hearty soup.

For those who enjoy grilled specialties, Lechon is an iconic Filipino delicacy. This whole roasted pig, with its incredibly crispy skin and succulent meat, is a celebratory dish often found at parties and gatherings. While a whole lechon might be too much for a solo traveler, many restaurants offer lechon kawali (fried pork belly) or lechon manok (roasted chicken) as delicious alternatives.

Don't leave Manila without trying Halo-Halo, the ultimate Filipino dessert. This refreshing concoction is a mix of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, leche flan, and ube ice cream. It's a perfect treat to cool down with, especially during the hot afternoons. You can find various versions of Halo-Halo, from simple to elaborately decorated, in most dessert shops and restaurants.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Manila

Filipino culture is known for its warmth and hospitality. When interacting with locals, a polite greeting like "Magandang umaga" (Good morning) or "Salamat" (Thank you) goes a long way. Respect for elders is highly valued, so addressing them with "po" and "opo" is customary. Be mindful of personal space in crowded areas, and always be aware of your surroundings.

When it comes to safety, like in any major city, it's important to be vigilant. Avoid displaying expensive jewelry or large amounts of cash openly. Keep your belongings secure, especially in crowded public transport and markets. It's advisable to use reputable taxi services or ride-sharing apps. In case of emergencies, the national emergency hotline is 911.

For navigating Manila and staying connected, several apps are highly recommended. Grab is essential for transportation and food delivery. Google Maps is invaluable for navigation, though it's always good to have a local SIM card for data access. For communication, WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger are widely used. Having these apps on your phone will significantly enhance your travel experience.

The building is about 23 years old but seems well taken care of. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Be wary about the parking situation, we were not able to park in the building and the first night parked at Robinson’s Mall which was only an 8 minute walk away and the second night parked on the street. Pool was nice and had great views of Manila harbor from both the room and the rooftop pool. Room was plenty big enough for 8 people. Would stay again.

An 11-day stay. Great view and good location, but I wouldn't return or recommend. Pro: outstanding, unobstructed, 180-degree view of Manila Bay and Dolomite Beach. Near restaurants, ATMs, and Robinson’s Mall. Clean. Full-size refrig./freezer. Comfortable bed. 24-hour access. Hot water and a/c.Good wifi. Washing machine. Smart tv. Photos are accurate, but taken when the unit/furnishings were new. Owner responsive to contact. Con: Owner is not prepared to be operating/maintaining a rental unit. Insufficient instructions/guidelines (where and when is trash pick-up? Is filtered (?) water in kitchen potable?), operation of amenities is not checked/verified between guests (cable had been disconnected - seemed to be news to him, toilet seat broken, toaster broken, gas to stove needed adjusting, no spare toilet paper. Insufficient dish detergent on arrival. Unit is badly maintained with peeling wallpaper, Pool closed and under repair. No clean towels for long stay.without charge. No top sheet on bed. No hand towels. Filter on one a/c required cleaning on arrival, so unit worked inadequately. No cable feed available. No on-site parking. Owner responsive when contacted but seemed unable to fix problems before 10 PM. He finally provided Netflix subscription under some pressure.

We checked in late as our flight to Manila was delayed. Although grateful for accommodating our late check in, we were not prepared for the 2 dirty single mattresses that "greeted us" as soon as we opened the door. They were just propped up on the wall outside the kitchen. Upon entering the bedroom, the bedsheets seemed dirty which made for uncomfortable sleeping. I was glad that we only booked it for 1 night and not any longer.

The apartment is privately owned. Wall paper falling off the walls. Hose for the washing machine on the bathroom floor. WiFi stopped working, inform reception but not for them to fix.

A good value for the price, professional staff the area wasn’t any worse than a lot of areas in Manila where you have to deal with crowded uneven dirty sidewalks if you want to walk anywhere

The condo was exceptionally spacious and efficient for downtown Manila. All facilities were adequate, and the kitchen was very convenient and well equipped.

The property was very common. Situated in areas where there were lots of convenient stores but the building itself looked like vacant or abandoned so we felt less safe.

They allowed us to book same day at 4am, then in the check in Instructions it says that you must check in 24 hours before arrival, hah!! Scam. Also vaccine required but they didnt mention it before booking. Then, no refunds. Hah.
