DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE
From the beginning of our contact there were problems with this place but because of the popularity of this region hotels get booked up quickly at this time of year so we went ahead and hoped for the best....That was my mistake. We confirmed two apartments through Booking.Com but after a few days we were contacted by MARPAS and told that there was only one apartment available but it had two bedrooms and for an extra charge (total of $65 USD) my friend could have the single bed in the second room. They advised us to cancel our booking through Booking.com and to just book directly with them. No difference in price. Here is what problems we encountered: No airport pick up. The guest room too small Beds substandard No cleaning in 3 days Room not prepared for guests Not enough towels No potable water on arrival Sewage tank full Ants in the apartment TV too small Pool was dirty Not enough cooking utensils The restaurant that is advertised as on the property is no longer operating so the closest restaurant is about a 10 minute walk. While some of these concerns were addressed once we voiced them it was apparent that little preparation was done for our arrival. Essentially the property is apartments for long term rental and is not designed well to operate for short term holiday guests. The region is attractive and lush and even Dumaguete city is interesting. If we had not been paying 3,200 pesos a night for MARPAS we could have forgiven the condition of the property but then we met the French owner and were insulted. On the final night of our stay he came to our apartment to tell us that we had been using the air con too much and that the door to the guest room was open which is against house rules. The only way he would have known that was if he had been looking in through the curtains since they were all closed and it was night. I assured him we would close the door and informed him that the toilet was once again out of order. His response was that he planned to have the toilet/septic worked on in the next week. There were no other apartments available and he offered no apology or price adjustment. The insult came when within 20 minutes he cut off the aircons from outside the apartment without informing us. We went to find him and his excuse was that he wanted to rest the compressors and would turn them back on later...which he did. We were so happy to leave MARPAS and write this review so that no one else will make the error we made. I have lived in Asia for 18 years and know the standard of accommodation and service that should be expected. MARPAS met neither of these...SUBSTANDARD and OVERPRICED

Excellent value, comfortable, quiet & secure, strong wifi
Was initially apprehensive when finding out after the fact that I had booked a facility out of the city but was pleasantly surprised as the place exceeded my expectations. Management was quick to respond to my text. Check in was a breeze- no fuss. The apartment was spacious, impeccably clean and well appointed. The rooms and the bathroom were extra spacious with more than ample closet space. The kitchen was well equipped with all the basics & more- tableware & cutlery, quality cookware, stove top, oven toaster, hotspot for coffee, rice cooker, water dispenser with both hot& cold features, a two door Haier ref. It was a pleasant plus to have been provided dishwashing sponge & soap. I loved the spacious balcony overlooking the garden's verdant foliage which served to screen the pool area. The lounging chair became a quick favorite as well as the dining set for four on the other end. Everything worked without a hitch - good water pressure with hot & cold feature. It was most convenient to have free & secure parking space within the gated compound. Wifi was strong & consistent. I really couldn't ask for more. This place is a gem & Maria is an excellent host. She gave us recommendations of places to visit. Just a few minutes away there is a quaint bistro which she recommended that serves meals with international food choices.

Beware!! They Will Cancel Your Confirmed Reservation! They did mine 2 times!
I was looking forward to staying here, the photo's looked nice. I booked though expidia.com and paid and received my confirmation. Later, MarPas contacts me directly and said their computer was not refreshed and one week of my two week reservation was actually not available but they confirmed the second week is certain. They blamed Expedia. So I frantically looked for one week to stay else where and found it on AirBnB.com. Then then today they canceled the second week saying it was another error. Two one week errors? I don't think so. I called Expedia and spoke with a supervisor who called and discovered the reason is they will accommodate walk-in customers and drop current paid for reservations. As I read other reviews going back years, I see the same issue. This means the hotel has a habit of canceling confirmed reservations. Avoid this place. It will take up to five days to receive my refund from Expedia and I don't have the budget to afford paying for another hotel just yet... Go Philippines! :(

"Rude and very disrespectful owner"
My wife and I stayed here in May 2016 for 3 nights. At first glance it was nice clean looking place. But there are plenty of ants around the rooms. Also there was only an air conditioner and it is in the bedroom. We had then some relatives of my wife (Filipinos) from Cebu join us on our last night in the place. They booked for a two bedroom apartment but then was only given a one bedroom as they said there was no two bedroom apartment available. We were then promised extra beds. We told them to put one in our apartment as well to accommodate everyone, but that did not happen. My wife's brother had to sleep on the floor. We were told kids under 5 were free, we got charged for each one of them. During dinner the owner came charging into our apartment complaining there were too many people. However not everyone in that dinner were staying for the night as there were residents of Dumaguete there as well. Besides his front office staff who took our booking knew of the exact number of occupants in each apartment and we were told it was ok . That rude owner just went on and on not listening to our explanation, just putting the blame on us. What made us really angry was that he told us right in our faces that "you Filipinos are all the same". Now I am an Australian. He is a French man married to a Filipina. Why does this guy run a business in the Philippines when he does not like Filipinos. When he asked us to pay for the kids which we were happy to pay for, even though they where supposed to be free, we asked him for a receipt. What he gave us was a piece of paper stating paid. We asked him for an official BIR receipt the way it should be done but he could not provide us one. That made us think "why", shouldn't all legitimate business have one? Why don't they? Fortunately, that night was our last night and when we left early the following morning, we again demanded for the official receipt which he still could not provide and basically told us to complain to the police if we want to. We did more than just that, hopefully the authorities will catch up with him in the future. So, for anyone planning to stay in Valencia, Negros Oriental, avoid this place at all cost.
