Beautiful place to stay, great value for money
I stayed here for four nights and thought it was fantastic. It is a little out of the way but taxis/scooters are pretty cheap to get around the island and staff are always around to book them for you. It's an absolutely stunning place, the staff were great, the food was excellent and it's excellent value for money. I also broke the door to my room (completely my fault) and the staff fixed it straight away without charging me any extra for breaking it. I'd highly recommend staying here.

Fantastic view
We had the pleasure of staying at the Marquis during our trip around the Philippines. The place is a little bit hard to find, but when you do, you will fall in love! It's a perfect place after staying in some crowded noisy city. If you go, you will get a perfect view with a lovely swimming pool, great food and a very friendly staff. I also loved the big outside bathroom :)

Awesome view, terrible service
Well, positive thoughts first: The view is amazing, especially at sunset and from the pool. I also like the room, stayed in one of the cheaper cottage bungalows. All is wooden and bamboo and quite open. Comfy bed, mosquito net, TV, fan and huge bathroom with hot shower. Also to mention, 2 of the server ladies, waitresses, really tried their best and been very friendly. BUT: The resort is situated approx 4 km away from Baclayon center on top of a hill. The road is partly just a dirt lane and a real mess after rain. The last bit up to the resort is extremely steep. If you want to drive up and down yourself, be sure to be an experienced driver. The other way would be a habal-habal for at least 50P from town. Don't let the driver go to the top, better walk the last bit! I say this because my driver tried and we had an accident. The staff in the resort is not at all helpful with finding transportation up and down. Food is expensive, especially the breakfast, and not enough for the price. I'm going to tell some stories I had with the staff: Once I went to the dining area at lunch time, just around noon, and it was raining. There is only one big table indoor. Well, the kitchen lady decided to clean the floor at this time. All chairs up on the table and she mopping the floor. Please find a better time for this as it's not very inviting for lunch guests. Don't use their laundry service! Never ever!!! I stayed 5 nights. The morning after the first night I gave most of my clothes for laundry. 2 days later I asked for the status of my laundry and was told, half of it is ready. I couldn't believe what I've seen: all was full with animal hair, probably one of the dogs slept on it. And yeah, it smelled like wet dog too. So I refused and told them to take it back and wash it again. I finally got all my laundry back 1 hour prior to my departure, all damp and one shirt soaking wet, one piece missing. Unbelievable how they messed up such a simple task. And it's expensive too... The first 2 days I've been drinking a couple of beer around the afternoon and evening. One the third day I was told, it's only 1 beer left and they might go buy more the next day. I asked them if they're joking and they should stock up immediately if they want to keep me as a customer. So one guy really left and came back with ONE big bottle af beer, ONE!!!! I was enraged and told him to go straight back and buy a crate, which he did eventually. One evening I had 3 guests for dinner and also 2 other couples were sitting in the dining area. The kitchen staff left at 8, leaving there one caretaker guy. This guy came around the tables at 10 to 9 in the evening, saying if we wanted anything else to tell him now because he's tired and wants to sleep now. 6 eating and drinking guests are not worth to be served after 9pm and were rudely promted to leave. To the management: You have such a nice place there! Try to find service personnel who cares and knows something about service!

One of the best sunset views in Bohol
I did't realize that Marquis sits atop of a hill in a secluded area, as in you have to drive through an almost-forest-type area for a good 8-10 minutes. Once you see the signage there's a steep drive to the top, which requires an expert driver so best to coordinate with the hotel for airport transfers, tours or just any time you need transportation. Best to tell them your transportation needs in advanced for their drivers are limited and are off on Sundays (which i found so odd and hassling). Once you get to the resort area you'll be pleased with the magnificent view of the sea and lush greenery! The best part about Marquis, I would say, is the sunset view by their infinity pool. Made me want to just stay there for good- not kidding! Beside the pool area is a small cafe where they serve decent meals, cocktails, etc. which conveniently also serves as their "front office" as in where you order your food is where you pay your bill and handle all resort-related stuff! They don't have an official front office / concierge area there. We stayed at the 2-bedroom cottage which was really spacious, clean and had a great view to boot! They had no wifi, no phone to directly call staff, which i didn't mind at all. Its a place where you can go to really get away, have a peaceful time and really reenergize especially when you're someone like me who lives in the city. At night, if you're lucky enough, the sky is illuminated by a myriad of stars which caught me off-guard and made me hate the city even more! All in all i had such a great experience here and would recommend it to people who are in love with nature and aren't bothered that there's no wifi or other amenities the modern-world requires (oh but they have AC, ok!). Moreover I want to go back there again and again and again. And Again. And Again.

stunning sunrise, sunset, delicious food and cozy cottages
We stayed only for one night. Found this place occasionally on the map and visited to check if it 's worth. Booking was made immideatly if it was considered as a dream place. Calm and peaceful hotel in the mountain with stunning view. Best sunrises and sunsets. Surprisingly delicious food, serving nicely. Cottages are cozy and tidy. Swimming pool is really cool. Way up is a bit hard as road isn't in a good condition. Might be not convinient for a long stay, but perfect for some days to relax and enjoy the nature.
