Very nice property. Clean and comfortable. Wifi wasn't the best and some primary outlets in the room really should be replaced. Very worn out. The included breakfast was very simple but you could order a bit more if wanted. Not a lot of choices. Overall it was nice and enjoyable and clean.

Your Travel Guide to Legazpi City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Legazpi City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

Traveling to Legazpi City from Manila is most efficiently done by air. Several airlines operate daily flights from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to Legazpi International Airport (LGP). Flight durations are typically around 1 hour and 15 minutes. Fares can vary significantly, but budget-conscious travelers can often find round-trip tickets ranging from PHP 3,000 to PHP 7,000 if booked in advance, especially during promotional periods. You can easily book flight tickets through Traveloka.

For those who prefer a scenic overland journey or are traveling from nearby provinces, bus travel is a viable option. Buses depart regularly from terminals in Metro Manila, such as Cubao and Pasay, heading directly to Legazpi City. The trip is considerably longer, usually taking between 10 to 12 hours, depending on traffic and stops. Bus fares typically range from PHP 1,000 to PHP 1,800 for a one-way ticket, with options for regular or executive classes.

Driving your own vehicle offers the most flexibility. The journey from Manila to Legazpi City covers approximately 500 kilometers and primarily utilizes the Pan-Philippine Highway. The drive can take around 9 to 10 hours without significant stops. Toll fees along the way will add to the overall cost, estimated to be around PHP 1,000 to PHP 1,500 for a one-way trip, depending on the specific route and vehicle type.

Best Time to Visit Legazpi City

The dry season, from November to May, is generally considered the best time to visit Legazpi City. During these months, the weather is typically sunny and less prone to heavy rainfall, offering ideal conditions for outdoor activities and sightseeing, especially for viewing the Mayon Volcano. The months of February to April are particularly pleasant with lower humidity and clear skies.

However, it's important to note that Legazpi City is located in the Bicol region, which can experience typhoons, particularly from June to October. While these months are part of the wet season, they also offer fewer crowds and potentially lower accommodation prices. If you choose to visit during this period, it's advisable to monitor weather forecasts closely and be prepared for occasional rain showers.

Food and Dining Near Legazpi City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

No trip to the Bicol region is complete without savoring Bicol Express. This iconic dish features pork and vegetables simmered in coconut milk, chili peppers, and shrimp paste. Its spicy kick and rich, creamy flavor are a true representation of Bicolano cuisine. You can find authentic Bicol Express in many local eateries and restaurants throughout Legazpi City.

Another must-try is Laing, a dish made from dried taro leaves, coconut milk, and a generous amount of chilies. Similar to Bicol Express, it offers a delightful blend of creamy and spicy flavors. The texture of the taro leaves, when slow-cooked, becomes tender and absorbs the flavorful sauce beautifully. It's a staple in Bicolano households and a culinary experience you shouldn't miss.

For seafood lovers, grilled or steamed fresh catch is abundant in Legazpi City, given its coastal proximity. Look for local markets or seaside restaurants offering freshly caught fish, squid, and prawns. Often prepared simply to highlight their natural flavors, these dishes are a delicious and healthy option. Enjoying grilled seafood with a side of rice and a dipping sauce is a classic Filipino dining pleasure.

Don't forget to try Pili nuts, a local delicacy. These nuts, native to the Bicol region, are often candied or roasted and make for a perfect snack or pasalubong (souvenir). They have a unique, slightly oily texture and a rich flavor that is distinct from other nuts. Many local shops sell them in various preparations, from plain roasted to sweet candied versions.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Legazpi City

Filipinos are known for their hospitality and respect for elders. When interacting with locals in Legazpi City, a friendly demeanor and polite language like "po" and "opo" go a long way. It's also customary to dress modestly when visiting religious sites. Understanding and respecting local customs will enhance your interactions and overall experience in the city.

Legazpi City is generally a safe place for travelers. However, like any urban area, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded places. Keep your valuables secure and avoid displaying expensive items openly. It's also recommended to use reputable transportation services. For emergencies, local police can be reached at 911, and it's good to have the contact number for your accommodation readily available.

To enhance your trip, consider downloading a few essential apps. A reliable navigation app like Google Maps is crucial for getting around the city and finding attractions. Ride-sharing apps can be useful for convenient transportation. For communication, messaging apps like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger are widely used by Filipinos. Having a local currency converter app can also be helpful for managing your budget.

Familiarize yourself with basic Filipino phrases, as while English is widely understood, making an effort to speak a few local words can be appreciated. Learning greetings or simple questions can foster better connections with the people you meet. This cultural exchange enriches the travel experience beyond just sightseeing.

We were supposed to stay until Monday but we rather head back to manila early sunday afternoon because we were upset about the place. If you guys need specifics I can definitely enumerate it: - They said it is free breakfast but they only gave us 1 sunny side up egg with 3 small pandesals. - The ceiling on our room is dripping, It's bizarre but it's dripping straight on our bed. - They Have wifi but our phones can't search their wifi names. - Since we have our own Comfort Room inside our room we should use the general CR and it was very filthy 🤐 We definitely deserve a refund! Very disappointing!

This hotel is perfect for backpacking especially when you're following a tight budget. We had a comfortable stay at a very reasonable deal and the location is just some minutes away from the main road making it more convenient to roam around the area. This could have been even better if there are other breakfast menus and there is a place where you can hang your wet clothes for drying.

I liked that their location is accessible by walking from the Legazpi municipal hall. Major mode of transportation (trike, pedicab, jeepney) is also within reach. The only thing that needs improvement is their air-conditioner. We have tried 2 different rooms and it seems like the aircon experience is pretty well the same. It really takes quite a long time before the room gets cooled. They have free breakfast (pandesal + scrambled egg + 3in1 coffee - if you're a light breakfast eater, I think that it will be enough for you. Otherwise, you might want to consider other options) and free water refill. Common bathroom is pretty okay, quite spacious with just the basic/common bathroom needs. No heater. No free towels/hand soap, etc. You can also ask the service attendants for commute guides. Their check-out time is at 12nn. During our stay, we had to extend by around 2 hrs because we finished late with one of our activities. We told the service assistant that we will just pack up and freshen up and will check-out thereafter with no extra charge. Overall, the experience was awesome and we got our room rate at a low price. It is truly a value for money! :)

On my first solo backpacking trip, this hostel caters all my needs from clean stays to wifi with the magnificent view of Mt. Mayon for only 350php! Location on the map seems far from main highways but it’s only walking distance in reality aside that you can enjoy their peaceful neighborhood like a local. Anyways, Legazpi in general is safe even at nighttime. I only rode public rides to and from my planned destinations. One thing I have difficulty at first locating the hostel since it’s mixed with the common neighborhood barangay unlike in most hostels in the city. Overall, I would recommend this place as other travellers did

Room was clean and breakfast was served hot (Hotsilog). You can keep your things in their storage room in case you arrive early. :)

This is good if you're out the whole time. It's okay to just go to bed. He is very comfortable for me.
