We got accommodated immediately to one of their fan room huts by mistake, but after a couple hours we got transferred to one of their AC rooms. The owner seemed a bit drained at the time, she did not even bother asking our reservation name until that moment we got transferred. The beachfront view is okay, but we found it difficult to swim there due to rocks and possible sea urchins lurking around (We found a kid selling a basket full of sea urchins and he said he got it from the area); the main coastline where most people swim and surf is not far away though. The bar is playing music nonstop from lunch until 3AM. Their stereo is directly facing the huts which can make it difficult to sleep there. Food and drinks are nearby the area too, you can get to SurfShack in about 10 to 15 minutes. Overall the place is okay, for a cheap price you have a place to sleep, and maybe allocate more of the budget for other things during your stay.
Everything was fine, but I suggest that please replace your faucets or clean them, it has molds and rust. thank you
No meals provided during our stay but the room was clean with air conditioning, had it's own bathroom with a shower and toilet. The location was perfect because it's right beside El Union Coffee and other food places. Other than there not being a meal provided, this place was alright.
Great location! We stayed at Room 11 where we have the front beach view. They have veranda where you can chill after surfing. Downstairs is the Le Point Bar if you need some booze. They provided beach towels and they have enough sockets inside and outside the room. Over all it was good.
Good for accommodation and cheaper one this hotel. Locations ocean front and on the surf point. Really recommended.
The location was great, the beach just across the resort. We liked it!
The room we stayed was good. It was nice, clean with AC, spacious, and has a great ocean view.
The owner was helpful and the staff was also very nice, especially at the bar. Good location.
What we really like about this place was the location as it is in front beach. Great!
Located in front of the beach, clean room, the staff was nice as well as the owner.

Good Beach Front Resort
This resort is very accommodating. Close to the see and you can see the profile of the waves from their beach frontage. The rooms are worth what you pay for. The place is fairly cheap so don't expect to much. If you just want to surf, this is the place to be. There is also a bar within the resort. It can get noisy during the night so if you want a good nights sleep better stay in the rooms away from the bar.

my best surfing experience
Beach front. Best to wake up in the morning and listen to the ocean waves. staff are very accommodating specially at their bar. they let me use my phone for our music and their beer is cheaper. but there was a problem on their shower, you must be careful because it is grounded.

Giving this place a 1 out of 5 stars is too much!
Honestly, this Motel by the sea made me wish that Trip Advisor changed their rating system to be able to rate from 1 to 10. Giving this place 1 star is far too good for it. So let me start with the good, and then I will get to the bad and the ugly. THE GOOD The owner , Mona, is a very nice person and she is trying to work with what she has got. Unfortunately what she has got, is not worth the stay with the literally dozens of other hotels in the area. The location is prime in front of the wave, they call a "point" break. But I won't get into my issues with them calling it a point break here, and you will have to read my review of La union to tell you why. THE BAD AND THE UGLY First of all, this place is not a resort. The word resort makes you think this place is going to have a restaurant, maybe a pool, etc. This is not that place. Monaliza's is one of the first Motels by the surf in La Union. Mona's father was a German and one of the first to discover this surf location in La Union, in 1981. Unfortunately, it does not look like they have upgraded or repaired anything since 1981. My fiance and I stayed here for 3 days, and it was 3 days too long. The room was about 10 feet by 15 feet. The mattress was so hard, I would have been better off sleeping on the floor. The TV was also most likely from 1981, and was so small I needed binoculars to watch it from 15 feet away. The aircon barely pushed out air and there were so many gaps in the window and in the area around the aircon that it would just leak out. On top of this, they had a leak somewhere in their plumbing system that every time we wanted to take a shower we had to tell them so they could mess with their plumbing to reactivate the pressure. And even then, there was no pressure. Our room was on the second floor with a nice view of "The point", but it was also right over "Le Pointe" bar and on our first night I did not sleep because I could hear the music and people from the bar until about 3 am. I guess we were lucky that the bar owner closed down the bar for the next 2 days to go visit her Mom, but this did not help my sleep because of the afore-mentioned hard bed and lack of aircon. The three days we stayed here, not once did they come to see if we needed new towels, toilet paper or even clean the room. NOT ONCE! AND THEY CALL THIS A RESORT? Finally, I had to throw the towel in and move to the surf mermaid hotel next door. Upon checking out, they forgot to charge me for my surf board rental, which was 200 pesos per hour. I gave them the 200 when Mona's Mother came out screaming that I rented the board for two hours. I told her I didn't, and that when I returned the board to the surf board rack, that nobody was even around for me to check it back in, so how would they know how long I rented it. I went on to say that they should not charge me anything for the board rental because of all the other things that were lacking and the Mother refused to accommodate me. I didn't bother to tell them I am one of the top reviewers in the PI with over 30,000 readers. But I guess they will find out the hard way!

My fav resort at Elyu (Beach front)
Sharing my review from their page last Nov 2016: Really thankful to Ms. Mona :) She's very accommodating and kind. The accommodation is not pricey, considering that it is a beach front resort, the room is big and has its own restroom (thumbs-up). Loved the place as well kase talagang may place to make sampay of your wet clothes which is malaking bagay, instead of just hanging the clothes kung san 'man. Favorite spot ko din yung bamboo type chill place nila sa harap ng resort. Perfect spot to chill and relax. :) Swerte din kase sa harap lang ng resort ginanap yung surfing competition when I visited last Nov. This is also where the Le Point bar is located. Overall, will recommend this resort to my friends not only because of the place itself but also because of the kindness that the daughter of the owner of the resort has showed me. :) Godbless! PS: Up until now, I'm still visiting her resort. Last visit ko was netong weekend lang. :)

Too expensive
The rooms are realy old and dirty, expensive for the quality of the accomodation. It is directly in the beach and it is the only good point of this accomodation. We ask for surf lesson, one hour, 200P+200P for surf board rent. The owner is sympathic one day and not the other day we don't realy understand. You can find better accomodations along the beach with lower prices and better quality!!
