Your Travel Guide to Laurel as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Laurel from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

Traveling to Laurel from Manila is a popular choice for weekend trips and longer vacations. The most common method is by car, taking approximately 2 to 3 hours via the SLEX and STAR Tollway. Toll fees can range from PHP 400 to PHP 600 depending on your vehicle and exact route. Buses are also an option, with services running from major terminals in Metro Manila to Tagaytay City, from where you can take a local jeepney or tricycle to Laurel.

For travelers coming from other major Philippine cities like Cebu or Davao, booking a flight to Manila's NAIA is the most efficient first step. You can find competitive fares on Traveloka for your book flight needs. Once in Manila, you can then proceed with bus travel or car rental to reach Laurel, Tagaytay. Planning your flight in advance can help secure better prices and ensure a smoother travel experience.

Consider the total travel time and cost when choosing your mode of transport. Driving offers the most flexibility, allowing you to stop along the way and explore. Public transportation, while potentially more budget-friendly, requires more transfers and adherence to schedules. Whichever method you choose, the scenic drive into the Tagaytay region is part of the appeal.

Best Time to Visit Laurel

The cooler months from November to February are generally considered the best time to visit Laurel and the Tagaytay area. During this period, the weather is pleasant, with average temperatures ranging from 20 to 26 degrees Celsius, making it ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing. This is also the peak tourist season, so expect more crowds and potentially higher accommodation prices.

The months of March to May mark the hot season, with temperatures rising. While it can be warmer, the higher elevation of Tagaytay still offers a respite compared to the lowlands. The rainy season typically runs from June to October. While rain can be frequent, it often comes in short, heavy bursts, and the landscape becomes lush and green. Traveling during the shoulder months, just before or after the peak season, can offer a good balance of pleasant weather and fewer tourists.

Food and Dining Near Laurel — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

No trip to the Tagaytay region is complete without trying Bulalo, a hearty and flavorful soup made with beef shanks and bone marrow, slow-cooked until tender. It's a perfect dish to warm you up, especially on a cooler day. Many local carinderias and restaurants in Laurel and Tagaytay serve excellent versions of this classic Filipino comfort food.

Another local delicacy to seek out is Buko Pie, a sweet and creamy pie made with young coconut filling. It's a popular pasalubong, and you'll find numerous bakeries selling freshly baked Buko Pies. The sweet, tender coconut meat encased in a flaky crust is a delightful treat that captures the essence of the region.

For those who enjoy grilled dishes, try the Sinugba, which refers to anything grilled. This can range from pork belly (liempo) to seafood and chicken. The smoky flavor and savory marinade make it a favorite among Filipinos. Pair it with a side of rice and a dipping sauce for a satisfying meal.

Don't forget to sample fresh local fruits and vegetables, especially if you visit a local market like Mahogany Market. Seasonal produce is abundant, and you might discover unique local varieties. Enjoying these fresh ingredients is a simple yet profound way to connect with the local culinary scene.

This property is truly stunning. Situated in front of Taal Volcano , early mornings in Nuuk is breathtaking. The serenity of Nuuk makes this place so memorable. The staff provided excellent service, they were attentive to our needs that make our stay super comfortable. Let’s talk about the food ! If you are looking for Filipino fare this is not the place BUT if you are looking for dishes that will blow your taste buds away this is the place!! We will dream of the slow braised lamb shank, stuffed chicken wings, fish and the sticky glazed chicken for days to come. Go to Nuuk, you won’t regret it.

This place is perfect. Relaxing and customer service is fantastic. Struggled with the food choices. Its not the best tasting and because its very secluded and there are no other restaurants in the area its really hard to find food choices. Basically lived on french fries as that is the only thing that interest me. But the facilities and how awesome this hotel surpasses the food problem we had. I would definitely go back to this hotel. Probably one of my favourite hotel.

A great place for family to escape the busy city and relax. I am grateful for all the staff members during our stay and welcoming us like family. I visited Nuuk with our family of 9 and had the best experience. I would like to thank Vince, Maica and Vincent for caring for our family. I hope they get the recognition and respect they deserve. We will be back!

The space and everything around it is breathtaking. The staff and service was excellent. The only thing I would change is to stay longer because I didn't have enough time to enjoy it all

Very nice place with helpful staff. Well-maintained rooms. Food is a bit overpriced and serving time can take anywhere from 30-45mins at mealtimes if your group comes in 3rd onwards.

Very helpful staff and georgous setting with landscaped gardens. Internally decorated with care and attention to detail. About 90 minute drive from Manila's NAIA airport.

Up close and personal view of the Taal Lake and Volcano. The facilities are well maintained and so clean. Staff are welcoming and courteous. If you want a private, intimate, and peaceful getaway, this is the best place to be. Only up to 39 guests can be at the hotel. Everything is picture perfect!

Our stay was just awesome!! The place so wonderful and all the staff from the manager Naeem, Carmella, Lyca, Jules, Arvin, Arrianne, Dhel - are all very kind and accommodating, so attentive to all our needs. Service was just so great!! I will bring my whole family next time we're able to come and will stay longer....and I'm even advertising this gem of a resort to all my Philippine families and friends. The rooms are big, clean and modern. Everything functioning so well! If you want to get away from the city or wants to vacation from abroad and stay in a quiet and lovely place to find peace and to rest quietly, to reconnect to your inner self, with the perfect view of the Taal lake in front of you, then, this is the place for you!
