Your Travel Guide to Quezon City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Quezon City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For travelers coming from other parts of the Philippines, flying into Metro Manila is the most common and efficient method. Major airports like Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) serve numerous domestic routes. You can often find flights from Cebu, Davao, or other key cities for fares ranging from PHP 2,000 to PHP 5,000, depending on the season and how far in advance you book flight tickets. Travel time from the airport to Quezon City can vary significantly due to traffic, typically taking 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.

If you prefer land travel or are coming from nearby provinces, bus services are a viable and economical option. Numerous bus terminals in Metro Manila cater to routes from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao (via ferry connections). Bus fares can range from PHP 800 to PHP 2,000 for longer journeys. The travel time can be considerably longer, often spanning 10 to 20 hours or more for inter-island travel, requiring an overnight journey.

Driving to Quezon City is also an option for those with their own vehicles or who rent one. Major expressways like the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) connect to Metro Manila. Within the city, you'll navigate a network of roads, with Commonwealth Avenue being a primary route. Be prepared for potential toll fees, which vary depending on the expressways used, and always factor in significant travel time due to the city's notorious traffic congestion.

Best Time to Visit Quezon City

The Philippines experiences a tropical climate, and Quezon City is no exception. The dry season, generally from November to April, offers the most pleasant weather for exploring. During these months, you can expect sunny days with lower humidity, making outdoor activities more enjoyable. Temperatures typically range from 25°C to 33°C. This period, especially outside of major holidays like Christmas and Holy Week, can be considered peak season due to favorable weather.

The wet season runs from May to October, characterized by higher humidity and frequent rainfall, often in the form of afternoon thunderstorms. While this might deter some outdoor activities, it also means fewer crowds and potentially lower accommodation prices. If you don't mind occasional rain showers and are looking for a more budget-friendly trip, visiting during the shoulder months of May or October can be a good compromise.

For Filipino travelers seeking to balance good weather with fewer crowds, the months of November, February, and March are often ideal. These periods fall within the dry season but tend to be less crowded than the December-January holiday rush or the Easter break. Planning your visit during these times allows you to enjoy Quezon City's attractions comfortably while potentially finding better deals on travel and accommodation.

Food and Dining Near Quezon City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Quezon City, like the rest of Metro Manila, is a culinary playground for Filipino food lovers. A must-try is **Adobo**, the unofficial national dish. Whether it's chicken or pork, simmered in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns, its savory and tangy profile is a true taste of home. You can find excellent versions in local eateries and even in some hotel restaurants.

Another Filipino favorite is **Sinigang**, a sour soup that comes in various forms, most commonly with pork, shrimp, or fish, soured with tamarind, guava, or other local fruits. Its comforting, tangy broth is perfect for any weather. For a more substantial meal, **Kare-Kare**, a rich oxtail stew in a thick peanut sauce, served with bagoong (shrimp paste), offers a unique and deeply satisfying flavor profile that showcases Filipino comfort food at its finest.

Don't leave Quezon City without trying **Lechon**, a whole roasted pig known for its incredibly crispy skin and succulent meat. While a whole lechon is a celebratory dish, many restaurants offer lechon as liempo (belly) or other cuts. For dessert or a sweet snack, **Halo-Halo** is essential. This popular mixed-dessert features shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, leche flan, and ube ice cream, offering a delightful explosion of textures and flavors. Exploring the local food scene is a significant part of the travel experience.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Quezon City

Filipino culture is known for its warmth and hospitality. When interacting with locals in Quezon City, a polite greeting like "Magandang araw" (Good day) or "Salamat" (Thank you) goes a long way. Respect for elders is paramount, so using "po" and "opo" when speaking to older individuals is customary. Queuing is generally observed, and patience is appreciated, especially in busy areas.

Safety in Quezon City is similar to other urban centers in Metro Manila. It's advisable to be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded places like markets or public transport terminals, to avoid petty theft. Keep your valuables secure and avoid displaying expensive items openly. For emergencies, the national emergency hotline is 911. It's also wise to have the contact numbers of your hotel and local police precinct readily available.

To enhance your travel experience, consider downloading a few essential apps. A reliable navigation app like Google Maps is indispensable for getting around the city's complex road network. Ride-sharing apps such as Grab are widely used and offer a convenient and often more affordable alternative to taxis. For communication, messaging apps like WhatsApp or Viber are popular among Filipinos. Having these tools can make your trip smoother and more enjoyable.

Overall as always Pacific staff are friendly & accommodating but my guests said its hightime the bed foam/cushion should be replaced cause it has bumps already. Soft curtain shower should be put in the bathroom. Aircon has tugging noise in the room, but overall the place is a safe haven.

All the staff are friendly and accommodating. With Restaurant and juices store at the ground floor. So you have a dining options. Walkable to banks, pharmacy store, spa, jollibee, convenient stores, etc. where you can buy your everyday needs. Along the highway so transport is accessible. Only need to improve or replace the toilet tissue holder and should provide a rags or mat outside the bathroom.

Location is convenient, but the beddings are dirty. There is no top sheet, only a dirty comforter which i believe was used by previous customer.

It was nice. The staffs were really kind and nice. It is a good place for staycation as well especially if you just want to breathe from Home. It is very accessible to different banks, hospitals and restaurants and food trips to choose from.

We had a great time time staying in this hotel. The location is perfect, it accessible to practically everything, shops, gym, laundromat, food chains, 24hr security, the pool is not as small as what it is in the picture, the staff are very friendly and helpful it is one of those hotels that you want to come back to again and again, I would every time I visit the Philippines.
