I liked everything about the property. Very clean, food was excellent. Covid protocols was a bit too tight for my liking considering that proof of vaccination had already been presented upon check in

Check-in and check-out was smooth and quick. Room was clean and quite spacious. Room assigned to us was on the third/top floor of Casa Sofia, which has a good view of the beach. Resort also has an infinity pool. Room charge includes four buffet meals (afternoon snack, dinner, breakfast and lunch). Overall, great value for money.

Location and How to Get to Palm Beach Resort

Address and Getting There

Palm Beach Resort is situated at Brgy. Hugom, Laiya, San Juan, Batangas, Philippines, 4226. This address places it within the Laiya area of San Juan, a region increasingly recognized for its coastal charm and accessibility from Metro Manila. The neighborhood itself is generally characterized by its proximity to the coastline, with a mix of residential areas and other resorts.

It offers a more laid-back atmosphere compared to the immediate urban sprawl, allowing visitors to feel a sense of escape upon arrival. The journey to this part of Batangas is a familiar route for many Filipinos, often involving a scenic drive that transitions from highways to provincial roads as you approach the coast.

For travelers coming from afar, the nearest major airport is Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila. From NAIA, you would typically arrange for land transportation to San Juan. This could involve taking a taxi or a pre-booked car service directly to the resort, a journey that can take approximately 2.5 to 4 hours depending on traffic conditions, especially if you are traveling during peak hours or on a weekend.

Alternatively, you could take a bus from one of Manila's major bus terminals (like those in Pasay or Cubao) heading towards Batangas City or directly to San Juan town proper, and then take a local tricycle or jeepney to Brgy. Hugom. If you're planning your trip from other parts of the Philippines, you can book flight tickets to Manila and then proceed with land travel.

The drive to San Juan, particularly the Laiya area, is generally straightforward. From Metro Manila, you would typically take the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and then the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR Tollway) towards Batangas. Exiting the STAR Tollway at the Batangas City toll plaza, you would then follow signs leading to San Juan town proper. From San Juan town, local signage will guide you towards Laiya.

The roads become more provincial as you get closer to the coast, and while generally well-maintained, they can be winding. It’s advisable to have a reliable GPS or map application on your phone. The estimated travel time from Manila is around 2.5 to 4 hours, with toll fees adding to the overall cost of the journey.

Similar to the St. Anthony of Padua Chapel, this is a short drive of about 10-15 minutes. For members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo faith, this local congregation offers a place of worship and community connection.

For other travelers, it represents another facet of the diverse religious landscape in the Philippines and can be a point of interest for understanding local community structures. Its proximity means it's easily accessible for those who wish to visit.

For practical local needs, Laiya National High School is located around 5.28 kilometers away. While not typically a tourist attraction, its presence indicates the heart of the local community and services. For travelers, it signifies that you are in an established area with local infrastructure. The distance means it's a short ride, perhaps 15-20 minutes by tricycle or car. Understanding the location of local institutions like this can help orient you within the San Juan area.

For those looking to explore beyond these specific points, the broader Laiya coastline offers numerous public beaches and smaller resorts, many of which are accessible via short trips from Palm Beach Resort. Pet Policy at Palm Beach Resort

For travelers who consider their pets part of the family, it's important to note that Palm Beach Resort's policy states that service animals are not allowed. This means that while the resort aims to be accommodating, it cannot permit any animals, including service animals, on the premises. This policy is in place to ensure the comfort and safety of all guests, as well as to maintain the resort's facilities.

Travelers who require the assistance of service animals will need to make alternative arrangements for their accommodation.

This policy is a crucial detail for many Filipino travelers who often travel with their beloved pets. It's advisable to confirm such policies directly with the hotel if you have specific needs or questions regarding animal companions. Understanding this limitation upfront helps in planning your trip effectively and avoiding any potential issues upon arrival.

Check-in and Check-out Information

The check-in process at Palm Beach Resort begins at 2:00 PM and extends until 12:00 PM the following day, which is a standard timeframe for many hotels. When you arrive, you can expect to present a valid ID for verification. It’s also a good idea to have your booking confirmation readily available.

If you happen to arrive earlier than 2:00 PM, you can inquire at the front desk if an early check-in is possible, though it is subject to room availability. In the meantime, you can often leave your luggage with the bell desk and perhaps start exploring the resort's common areas or enjoy a meal at the restaurant.

For guests who have booked their stay, the check-out time is before 12:00 PM. This allows the hotel staff ample time to prepare the rooms for incoming guests. If you wish to have a later check-out, it's best to arrange this with the front desk in advance. Late check-out requests are typically granted based on room availability and may incur an additional fee.

Even if a late check-out isn't possible, you can usually store your luggage at the resort after checking out. This allows you to continue enjoying the resort's facilities or explore the nearby attractions for a few more hours without the burden of carrying your bags.

Making the most of your final hours at Palm Beach Resort is easy, even after you've officially checked out. You can still utilize the common areas, perhaps have a final swim in the pool, or enjoy a last meal at the restaurant. This flexibility ensures that your departure is as relaxed as your arrival, allowing you to savor the last moments of your San Juan getaway.

The extended check-in window also provides flexibility for those arriving later in the day, ensuring a smooth process regardless of your travel schedule.

Your Travel Guide to San Juan as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to San Juan from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For many Filipinos, San Juan, Batangas, is a popular destination, especially for those coming from Metro Manila. The most common and convenient way to reach San Juan from Manila is by car or bus. If you're driving, you'll typically take the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and then the STAR Tollway. The journey usually takes around 2.5 to 4 hours, depending heavily on traffic conditions, particularly when departing from or returning to Manila.

Toll fees can range from approximately PHP 500 to PHP 800 for a round trip, depending on your vehicle type. This option offers the most flexibility for exploring the area at your own pace.

If you prefer public transportation, several bus companies operate routes from Metro Manila terminals (like those in Pasay, Cubao, or Alabang) to San Juan town proper. Major bus lines such as JAM Liner or DLTB Co. offer frequent trips. The bus fare is generally affordable, ranging from PHP 250 to PHP 400 per person, one-way. The travel time by bus is similar to driving, around 3 to 4 hours.

Once you arrive at the San Juan bus terminal, you can easily take a tricycle to your chosen accommodation, including Palm Beach Resort. For those coming from further afield, like Cebu or Davao, the most efficient way to start your journey to San Juan is to book flight tickets to Manila (NAIA). From Manila, you can then follow the bus or driving routes described above.

For travelers coming from the Visayas or Mindanao, flying into Manila is the most practical first step. Airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia offer numerous flights daily to Manila from major hubs like Cebu City, Davao City, and Iloilo. Flight prices can vary significantly based on booking time and season, but budget around PHP 2,000 to PHP 5,000 for a round-trip ticket if booked in advance.

Upon arrival at NAIA, you can proceed to the bus terminals or arrange for a private transfer to San Juan, Batangas, as detailed previously. This multi-modal approach ensures that even those from distant parts of the Philippines can comfortably reach the beautiful shores of San Juan.

Best Time to Visit San Juan

San Juan, Batangas, enjoys a tropical climate, which means warm temperatures year-round. The dry season, typically from November to April, is generally considered the best time to visit for beach activities. During these months, you can expect sunny skies, lower humidity, and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and other outdoor pursuits. The sea is usually calmer, and the weather is most predictable.

This period, however, also coincides with peak tourist season, especially around holidays like Christmas, New Year, and Holy Week. Expect larger crowds and potentially higher accommodation prices during these times.

The wet season runs from May to October. While this period brings a higher chance of rain, it doesn't mean your trip will be ruined. Rain showers are often brief and can be followed by sunshine. The advantage of visiting during the wet season is fewer crowds and often more competitive pricing for hotels and other services.

This can be a great time for travelers who prefer a more laid-back atmosphere and are looking for a cheap hotel experience. It's also a good time for those who don't mind occasional rain and are primarily seeking a relaxing break. For a balance of good weather and manageable crowds, consider visiting during the shoulder months, such as late October or early November, or late April to early May.

Ultimately, the "best" time to visit San Juan depends on your priorities. If guaranteed sunshine and calm seas are paramount, aim for the dry season. If you prefer fewer people and potentially lower costs, and don't mind the possibility of rain, the wet season can be very rewarding. Regardless of when you choose to go, San Juan offers a delightful coastal experience for Filipino travelers.

Food and Dining Near San Juan — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

San Juan, Batangas, is not just about its beaches; it's also a place where you can savor delicious Filipino cuisine, with some local specialties that are worth seeking out. One dish that Batangas is famous for is **Batangas Bulalo**. While bulalo is found throughout the Philippines, the Batangas version is often praised for its rich, clear broth, made from beef shanks and bone marrow, slow-cooked to tender perfection.

It’s a hearty and comforting soup, especially perfect after a day by the sea. Look for local carinderias or restaurants in San Juan town proper for authentic renditions.

Another must-try is **Sinigang na Isda** (sour fish soup), particularly if you're near the coast. Freshly caught fish, simmered in a sour broth typically flavored with tamarind, kamias, or guava, with an assortment of vegetables like kangkong, tomatoes, and onions. The tanginess of the sinigang is a classic Filipino palate cleanser and a staple in many households. Many beachfront eateries and local eateries in San Juan will offer this dish, showcasing the freshness of the local catch.

For those who enjoy grilled specialties, **Inihaw na Liempo** (grilled pork belly) is a perennial favorite. Marinated pork belly, grilled over charcoal until perfectly charred and juicy, served with a side of soy sauce-vinegar dip with onions and chili. It’s a simple dish but incredibly satisfying, embodying the Filipino love for grilled meats. You'll find this on the menus of many local restaurants and even at roadside barbecue stands.

Don't leave San Juan without trying **Tapa**. While tapa is a breakfast staple nationwide, Batangas tapa has its own distinct flavor profile, often characterized by a slightly sweeter and more savory marinade. It's typically served with garlic fried rice and a fried egg, a classic Filipino breakfast known as Tapsilog. Many local eateries and even some resorts offer their own versions, so it’s worth trying a few to find your favorite.

Exploring the local food scene is an integral part of the travel experience, and San Juan offers plenty of opportunities to indulge in these beloved Filipino dishes. You can often find these dishes at local restaurants and even some of the smaller eateries scattered along the coastal roads.

I liked everything about the property. Very clean, food was excellent. Covid protocols was a bit too tight for my liking considering that proof of vaccination had already been presented upon check in

I enjoyed the delicious food served in a buffet-style meals. One thing I noticed was there's no ventilation or exhaust fan in the toilet. But the rest was okay.

I find the pricing of the food on the steep side with limited variety. Housekeeping can be improved as they did not makeup our room when we asked them too despite our stay being for two nights. But rest of the staff were very pleasant.

I like everything except the beach full of stones and corals. The rooms were clean. We enjoyed their swimming pools. Their food was really nice. They served us in big portions and the staff are very accommodating. I like how the place is well preserved and maintained. The view is just amazing as well. Over all, it was worth the price!

Our family has already visited Palm Beach Resort several times ago prior to this booking. To my surprise, I received an email stating that what I (already paid for which was charged straight off my credit card) was good for 4 guests and not 5. I was irritated because they give you a notice one day before the actual booking. I have responded on their email and did not hear any feedback. When we got there, I did the usual write down the names of folks I am with for which I did, on this very same day, I stipulated that (next day) I need to leave their premises to attend an event within the area. We got back before 11 pm’ish and to my surprise again I realized the stuff didn’t properly endorsed and paid attention to what I have said and requested, the security personnel thought we’ve added another guest and the way they question is somewhat disappointing and very irritating. The road to get to main PBR during our visit was still under construction. If you ask me if I’ll come back regardless of the bad experience with their stuff, I totally said I would because of the improved ‘full-board’ meals from day to night. What more do they need and have to improve? High-range wifi connection, if possible do something with the beach its too and full of rock pebbles that you’ll need a foot gear to combat and enjoy the salt water.

The hotel rooms are very old and have not been maintained. One thin towel per person with no hand towels or washers is not surficiant . Limited internet and mobile service however the pool is great with stunning views

Outstanding service throughout our stay. Very easy check in and check out. Great amenities. Awesome beachfront view from the room. Excellent Philippine buffets. Made special meals for our 5 year old daughter. Terrible phone and internet service. Coral beach, but aqua shoes were provided. Will visit again.

We went here on weekend to celebrate our daughter's 4th birthday. We're lucky the place was not crowded. The place is good, very relaxing. Our 2 kids enjoyed the pool & mini playground. The staff is very accommodating they even made the birthday cake free of charge. Also the food is nice.

A gem! Service was excellent and food was good!;) could use a few more dishes with veggies though. Beer was cold! A treat since most resorts (even high end ones!) sometimes serve tepid beer. Very clean resort with good amenities. The beach isn't much of a beach though coz of the very coarse sand and rocky ocean floor. They do lend out aqua socks but must get yours quickly coz smaller sizes and kids sizes go fast. Our kids had a good time exploring for hermit crabs and other sea creatures though! The cabanas are also very comfy with cushions and lovely white curtains. Would have given this resort full marks if not for the rocky beach.

It was great. The place is calm and peaceful. It is good for soul searching or you need some quiet time to relax. It is just that the way to get there is difficult. The roads still need to fix. The road before you get there are steep but the place is worth the travel. I had a great stay there. :)

This is my favorite resort in Batangas and I've been there twice now. The staff are amazing and they cater very well for vegetarians, as long as you tell them of course :) The rooms are spacious and clean and most guests are respectful of the suggested 10PM noise curfew. Although they gave us the Royale junior room instead of the better Deluxe room that we paid for. There's not much difference but the Deluxe room has a split bathroom which would have been useful and it's also a little bit bigger.
