Not bad for Catarman
This place was not too bad for Catarman.
The room was vibrant in color and cute. Not too big, but all we really needed was a place to shower, change and sleep for the night.
We were on the second floor, and noted that there was no elevators. No big deal.
Our group consisted of over 20 people, and as it was at another hotel in Northern Samar, within minutes of getting into our rooms, we created a power outage by simultaneously turning on the lights and AC units all at once. Within several minutes however, power was restored and everything was working fine.
The bathrooms are what we have become accustomed to while being on our first visit to the Philippines. A small room with a mirror, sink, toilet and showerhead with an attached hot water device. Also a bucket and a drain on the floor.
We have learned that while in the Philippines, we bring toilet paper with us in our backpacks since many places don't have, also we were advised that the toilet paper doesn't get flushed down the toilets because it clogs the systems, so it gets tossed in trash (this we cringed at, but learned the hard way its much better to do that than to deal with a clogged toilet for several days and no plumber to save the day).
Its a big adjustment to shower next to the toilet and have no seperation for a showerdoor or showercurtain. 90% of the bathroom gets wet, including the toilet. There's nowhere to put your dry clothes or shampoo and conditioner items, or even toothbrushes, so I put my clean clothes on the rim of the sink when showering, and shampoo and conditioner in a ziplock bag on top of the toilet tank cover.
The structure and architectural build of this place is beautiful.
I dont believe there was any wifi. I think someone in our group had to ask for toilet paper so we were given one and along with that delivery recieved a little bar of hotel soap.
My only real gripe about this place is just a minor one. I noticed that on full blast, coldest setting, the AC didn't blow cold air. So the AC ran all night; we had air circulation, but it just wasn't very cool. It was fine by me, as we only stayed for less than 12 hours.
We didnt need power converters or plug adapters for our US devices.
This place was minutes away from hundreds of places to shop for things, and maybe a 10 minute or less drive from Catarman Airport.
