Very friendly staff, room is spacious and clean, very accommodating to requests. Bed is hard but I guess because they are for their primary target. But it didn't give me backpain which is good. One light short-circuited but they were able to replace it quickly.

When I stayed it was soft opening and the property still wasn’t finished. First thing is the staff is wonderful. They make you feel like you are the only one staying at the property. They even prepared a breakfast to go since we had to leave early when checking out. The property is really nice and almost everything was perfect. The only issue I had was the beds. It is Korean style so the beds are extremely hard. If you don’t like hard beds make sure you tell the front desk and they will place a topper for you.

Your Travel Guide to Panglao, Panglao Island as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Panglao, Panglao Island from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For convenient booking, book flight tickets through Traveloka and compare fares across major airlines.

For most Filipino travelers, the quickest way to reach Panglao, Panglao Island is by air. Direct flights to Bohol Panglao International Airport (TAG) are available from major hubs like Manila, Cebu, and Davao. Flight durations typically range from 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on your point of origin. Fares can vary significantly, but booking your flight in advance through platforms like Traveloka can help you find more affordable options, with prices sometimes starting from PHP 2,500 for a round trip during off-peak seasons.

If you prefer a more scenic and budget-friendly journey, you can opt for a ferry service combined with a bus or van. From Manila, you can take a ferry to Tagbilaran City, Bohol's capital, which is a longer trip, often overnight. From Tagbilaran, you can then take a local bus or van to Panglao Island. This option is considerably cheaper but requires more travel time, potentially spanning over 24 hours.

For those coming from nearby Visayas cities like Cebu, a direct ferry to Tagbilaran is a popular and economical choice. The ferry ride usually takes around 2 to 4 hours. Once you arrive in Tagbilaran, local transportation options like buses, vans, or taxis are readily available to take you to Panglao, with the journey to the island taking approximately 30-45 minutes.

Best Time to Visit Panglao, Panglao Island

The dry season, generally from December to May, is considered the peak tourist season in Panglao, Bohol. During these months, you can expect sunny skies and calm seas, making it ideal for beach activities, island hopping, and diving. The weather is consistently pleasant, with average temperatures ranging from 28°C to 32°C. However, this is also when you'll find larger crowds and potentially higher prices for accommodation and flights.

The wet season, from June to November, brings occasional rainfall, which can range from short, heavy downpours to prolonged drizzles. While there's a higher chance of rain, it doesn't necessarily mean your trip will be ruined. Often, the rain showers are brief, and you can still enjoy plenty of sunshine. This period is ideal for budget-conscious travelers as prices for flights and hotels tend to be lower, and there are fewer tourists. It's also a great time for diving, as marine visibility can still be excellent.

For a good balance of favorable weather and fewer crowds, consider visiting during the shoulder months, such as late May to early June or late November to early December. During these times, you can often enjoy good weather conditions while avoiding the peak season rush and prices.

Food and Dining Near Panglao, Panglao Island — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Bohol offers a delightful culinary scene that reflects its coastal location and agricultural richness. One dish you absolutely must try is Kinilaw na Tanigue, a local take on ceviche. Fresh tanigue (mackerel) is marinated in vinegar, onions, ginger, chili, and sometimes coconut milk, offering a tangy and refreshing flavor profile that’s perfect for the tropical climate. You can find excellent versions in local eateries and restaurants along Alona Beach.

Another must-try is the Peanut Kisses, a unique local delicacy that resembles small Hershey's Kisses. These crunchy, sweet treats are made from peanuts, flour, eggs, and sugar, and are a popular pasalubong (souvenir) from Bohol. Look for them in local bakeries and souvenir shops across the island.

For seafood lovers, grilled fresh catch is a staple. Many beachfront restaurants offer a selection of fish, squid, and prawns grilled to perfection. Enjoying a plate of freshly grilled seafood with a side of garlic rice and a dipping sauce while overlooking the ocean is a characteristic Bohol dining experience.

Don't leave Bohol without trying their version of Adobo, often made with local ingredients and a distinct regional twist. While adobo is a Filipino classic, each province has its own preparation. Bohol's version might incorporate local spices or a touch of sweetness that makes it stand out. Exploring local carinderias (small eateries) can lead you to authentic and delicious renditions of this beloved dish.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Panglao, Panglao Island

Filipinos are known for their hospitality, and Boholanos are no exception. When interacting with locals, always be respectful, use polite language like "po" and "opo," and greet them warmly. Understanding and respecting local customs, especially when visiting churches or more traditional areas, will enhance your interactions and overall experience.

Safety in Panglao is generally good, but like any tourist destination, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings. Keep your valuables secure, especially in crowded areas or on public transport. It’s advisable to avoid walking alone in poorly lit or isolated areas late at night. For emergencies, the local police hotline is typically 911, and it’s good to have the contact number for your accommodation readily available.

For seamless travel, having a few essential apps on your smartphone can be very helpful. A reliable navigation app like Google Maps is indispensable for finding your way around. - Room The good, Room was clean, Air Conditioning worked well. Complimentary toiletries. Room was cleaned everyday with refreshment of towels. The bad, Ceiling in restroom was unfinished with screws still showing and could tell the moisture & humidity had already done its damage and there’s mold in some spot of the caulking. Bed was super hard and the fridge didn’t work. Hangers to hang clothing would have been nice as well. We had only had 2. - Internet Internet was non existent. Kept dropping out. Making it really difficult to do any work or even get emails heaven forbid you try and load a website. - Hospitality Staff was super friendly and the complimentary shuttle to Alona was great. Welcome drink was kind of a joke. They offered us Nestea. When we asked if they had anything else we were told we’d have to pay extra. Breakfast was not great but edible. Only allowed 1 complimentary instant coffee for each person. -Pool Pool was clean

Rey average, NOT exceptional as rated. Overpriced for what you get. DIRECTLY under flight path at airport about 1000 yards away. Middle of the night planes come screaming in 500 feet above hotel. Staff excellent and helpful. Buffet breakfast also very average

So, I am torn about what to rate this property. The part that is completed is fairly nice. It’s definitely Korean, not Western in detail. The place has fairly typical Pinoy construction, where you can see the little details that were missed or were done sloppily. The description says that there are 4 or 5 pools and two pool bars, however there is just the one poolplus kids pool. And there is only one bar. I would have asked for a refund and not stayed normally, but it served my purpose. The directions to the property are not correct, and that needs to be addressed. The main reason I WANT to give it two stars, is that the “mattresses” are insanely hard. I am not joking when I say that you are sleeping on plywood with a half inch of cotton over it. When I asked for a mattress topper as one review suggested, they had no idea what I was speaking of. If I had it to do over again, I would have left, gotten a refund, and stayed somewhere else. It was the two worst nights of sleep in my life. Worse than backpacking in the Rockies with an inflatable pad and sleeping bag. Breakfast is a set menu of four options: ham, bacon, chicken sausage and corned beef hash. All come with one scrambled egg, one fried egg, an odd “salad” with some edible cucumber and tomato, three small slices of fruit, 1/4 of a piece of French toast, a cup of rice, some sort of savory soup and your choice of coffee (with powder cream) or sugar concoction they call juice. However, there is no menu.

Very friendly staff, room is spacious and clean, very accommodating to requests. Bed is hard but I guess because they are for their primary target. But it didn't give me backpain which is good. One light short-circuited but they were able to replace it quickly.
