Secluded paradise!
Our visit to Secret Paradise Resort was one of our highlights while travelling in Palawan. It's such a beautiful secluded piece of paradise - totally off the grid. They arranged to collect us in Sabang after our tour of the Underwater River and after a 4 hour drive we got onto a banca (traditional fishing boat) in Port Barton and transferred to Secret Paradise Resort. What a lovely warm welcome we received from the staff. I immediately noticed the pristine water in the bay and the lovely well kept resort. The accommodation is limited to 7 cottages and 8 villas/rooms. We booked the two honeymoon cottages (Songbird & Lovebird) who are located in their own remote area with a private beach. It was utter bliss sitting on the stoep or lazy in the hammock... snorkelling straight off the beach and taking the small kayaks early in the morning to then next bay (also part of Secret Paradise Resort). The snorkelling and sea-life was out of this world, I even had the opportunity to playfully swim with a wild sea-turtle ... round-and-round in the bay. The accommodation / meal costs are not cheap, but totally understandable that the remoteness of the resort's locations make it a expensive one to run and uphold. We had some lovely meals - basic, but tasty. My husband's favourite was the chili crab! We ate lots of fresh fish supplied by local fisherman to the resort. The only bit of constructive criticism I would like to give is with regards to breakfast. It's such an exclusive resort, and I feel that some of the meals don't fit in with the high standard of the whole resort experience. I fully understand the challenge in obtaining fresh food that comes with the location of the resort, and that probably the reason for the slices of "long-life bread" which we didn't enjoy at all. Perhaps a freshly baked bread from the resort kitchen would go down well. I really loved our stay and would love to return one day! Such and exceptional place.

another world
Hi -- our group was graciously hosted by the owner of Secret Paradise 2 weeks ago -- we were lucky to spend time with him and to hear his incredible story and his work of many years to try to protect this special place, its reef and the marine life including sea turtles who call it home. We were welcomed with a rainbow and a massage upon arrival -- the latter being one of the best receptions I've had at any resort anywhere! HUGE thanks to Mark and his staff for their dedication and commitment to doing the right thing for the environment despite many challenges.

High end resort experience in a tropical marine sanctuary paradise.
Wonderful resort! The new villas were fabulous, so comfortable and spacious, with breathtaking views. I shared with three friends and every bed was so comfortable with luxury bedding. What a pleasure to experience this special hidden gem which provides all the resort comforts one would want with conservation of the unique island species and ecosystem. Both marine and terrestrial viewing are not to be missed (a rainbow of tropical fish, sea turtles, and rays). You can wake up to sunrise snorkeling just outside your front door or enjoy a morning hike in the pristine forest if you duck around the back of your private cottage. I have traveled to over 40 countries in the last 30 years and Secret Paradise is now definitely in my top 3 for resorts and experiences not to be missed. Worth the travel to reach. All the staff go out of their way to make your stay special! Whether you want lots of fun activities or peace and quiet to relax, watch the sunset and read a book, Secret Paradise has either or both for you and your entire party. Thank you to all the staff for a terrific stay - Ann K (USA).

Quiet and secluded getaway
Travelled with my cousins for a 3-day getaway. Getting here was no easy task, but well worth it (1 hr Flight from Manila to Puerto Princesa, a 3-hour van ride, then finally a 1-hour boat ride). The place was amazing and even more so, the staff (special mention to Pong and Michelle). It was literally a cove in the middle of nowhere, with amazng views and utmost serenity. Despite the isolation of the location, the resort had everything we needed and then some. The place was huge but with few villas, making the number of guests limited, thus a feeling of exclusivity. We also loved the fact that it was a turtle sanctuary and nature reserve. Despite being in a cove, it had 3 beaches and another cove you could kayak to. The staff was amazing, very helpful and accommodating. On our first night, the exhaust in the bathroom was not working, and they replaced it right away. The menu could use some addition and variety but the chef graciously accommodated our food requests (off the menu items), much appreciated! The place was simply amazing for nature lovers and those who appreciate tranquility. Good place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of city life. There were 2 adorable bunnies running around as well. Being in Palawan, the place though was not exempt from the pesky sand mites. The resort had coconut oil provisions for the guests to put on, to help avoid being bitten. I suggest as well a good amount of insect repelling lotion. Wifi was available, but internet connection was intermittent (Globe has better signal here than Smart).
