I deeply enjoyed the personal care and assistance I received at the Seven Door Gramercy in Makati, Manila. All my needs were immediately taken care of as Rico and his staff were right away available. He took the time to personally show me the place and even went out of his way to walk with me to the mall and point out different stores I asked about. The pool area is amazing. Something to experiment. There is also a gym and spa. The resistance itself had a breath-taking view and everything you need to feel comfortable. On my last day I decided to catch a flight and had to rush out. Again, he was there to help me with my luggage and get a taxi to the airport. He even was so kind to make sure I arrrived safely and got my flight sorted out. The best part is that Makati is the place to be in Manila. Don't miss out and experience this amazing city's Night Life right by your door step.

Your Travel Guide to Makati as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Makati from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For travelers coming from other parts of the Philippines, flying into Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Metro Manila is the most common and efficient method. From major cities like Cebu, Davao, or Iloilo, flight durations are typically between 1 to 2 hours. You can often find competitive fares if you book flight tickets in advance, especially during promotional periods.

Once you land at NAIA, reaching Makati is straightforward. Taxis and ride-sharing services are readily available at the airport terminals. The journey to Makati usually takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending heavily on traffic conditions, with fares typically ranging from PHP 300 to PHP 500. For budget-conscious travelers, public buses also ply routes from the airport area towards Makati, though this option requires more navigation and may take longer.

If you are traveling from Luzon provinces like Pampanga or Batangas, bus travel is a viable and economical option. Numerous bus companies operate routes to various terminals in Metro Manila, from where you can then take a taxi, ride-sharing service, or local public transport to Makati. Bus fares are considerably lower than flights, and travel times can vary from 2 to 5 hours depending on the origin point and traffic.

Best Time to Visit Makati

Makati, like much of Metro Manila, experiences a tropical climate with distinct wet and dry seasons. The dry season, generally from November to April, offers the most pleasant weather for exploring. During these months, you can expect sunny days with lower humidity, making it ideal for walking around the city, visiting outdoor attractions, and enjoying the urban landscape.

The peak tourist season typically falls within the dry months, particularly from December to February, coinciding with cooler temperatures and holiday festivities. If you prefer fewer crowds and potentially better rates on accommodation, consider visiting during the shoulder months of November or March to April. The wet season, from May to October, brings frequent rainfall, which can sometimes be heavy but often comes in short bursts. Despite the rain, many indoor attractions and dining options remain accessible, and you might find more affordable travel deals during this period.

Food and Dining Near Makati — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Makati is a culinary melting pot, offering everything from street food to fine dining. When exploring the area, make sure to try classic Filipino dishes that showcase the country's rich flavors. Adobo, a savory dish of meat braised in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns, is a national staple and a must-try for any visitor. You can find excellent versions in many local eateries.

Another Filipino favorite is Sinigang, a sour and savory soup, typically made with tamarind broth and your choice of meat or seafood, along with various vegetables. Its comforting and tangy profile is perfect for any weather. For those who enjoy grilled specialties, Lechon Kawali (crispy fried pork belly) offers a delightful crunch and rich flavor, often served with a dipping sauce.

Don't leave without trying Sisig, a popular Kapampangan dish made from chopped pig's face and ears, seasoned with onions, chili peppers, and calamansi. It's often served sizzling hot and is a perfect accompaniment to rice or a cold drink. For dessert, Halo-Halo, a refreshing mix of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, and topped with ice cream, is the ultimate treat to beat the tropical heat. You can find these dishes in local carinderias, casual restaurants, and even some upscale establishments throughout Makati.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Makati

Filipino culture is known for its warmth and hospitality. When interacting with locals in Makati, a friendly demeanor and a smile go a long way. While English is widely spoken, learning a few basic Tagalog phrases like "Salamat" (Thank you) and "Magandang araw" (Good day) can be appreciated. Respect for elders and public spaces is important; avoid littering and be mindful of noise levels, especially in residential areas.

Safety in Makati is generally good, especially in well-trafficked areas and commercial centers. However, like any major city, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings. Keep your valuables secure, avoid displaying expensive items openly, and be cautious of petty theft, particularly in crowded places. It’s advisable to use reputable transportation services like registered taxis or ride-sharing apps. In case of emergencies, the local police hotline is 117.

To enhance your travel experience, consider downloading a few essential apps. Grab is indispensable for booking rides and food delivery. Google Maps or Waze will help you navigate the city's streets. For communication, WhatsApp or Messenger are widely used. Having these apps on your smartphone will make getting around, ordering food, and staying connected much easier during your stay in Makati.

The manager gave an invalid phone number to Expedia, so hard to reach him to check-in. When finally located, he said Expedia was in error to confirm a one-bedroom suite. He offered me a regular studio instead, but said he would pay no compensation for the price difference because it was Expedia's fault. I declined, and asked him why he hadn't cancelled the reservation for a room he does not have. He said Expedia was not answering their phone, and, in any event, it was now my responsibility to cancel the reservation and pay a cancellation penalty, because he had offered me an "accommodation." At that point, I told him to take a hike. . . .I called Expedia (who answered on the first ring), and they took excellent care of me. So 5 stars for Expedia, and 0 stars for this "Seven Doors in Gramercy" outfit.

As convenient as the location is, the service was just horrible! We were forced to stay into a nearby hotel by the manager because according to them, they didn't get the reservation despite the confirmation from expedia. The second day was okay because we had all the fresh supplies like towels and such. Come the next day, it was just hard to get a hold of the staff that's supposed to replace our towels or clean the room. So, we ended up just giving up and buying the stuff we need outside - just horrible! Considering it is supposed to be a "prime" spot.

I like where I'm staying at. I like the view and the unit itself. It's big enough for 3 persons. Things are provided and was able to enjoy!

Bed, bathroom, kitchen and nothing more, all basic but clean. Note this is an apartment managed by a real estate agent on behalf of the owner - there's no 24/7 reception, room service or other hotel niceties.

We stayed 1 night. As we were on holidays I missed the email asking us to confirm our arrival time, our host however, was available to provide us with access. He showed us around and the room had a great view and we were made welcome.

Location of residence is convenient for stay and living. All (banks, mall, convenient store, restaurant and others) are in walking distance.
