We had a great stay in Siargao through Soeliana Resort even though we stayed most of the time in the resort than visiting places since I am pregnant. Staffs are very accommodating. Breakfast was sumptuous. We would recommend the resort to our friends and we are looking forward to stay again in Soeliana resort once we visit Siargao in the future.

Your Travel Guide to General Luna, Siargao Islands as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to General Luna, Siargao Islands from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

The most common and efficient way to reach Siargao from Manila and other major Philippine cities like Cebu is by air. Siargao Airport (Sayak Airport) is the primary gateway. Direct flights from Manila typically range from PHP 4,000 to PHP 8,000 or more, depending on the season and how far in advance you book. Flights from Cebu are often shorter and can sometimes be more affordable, with fares starting around PHP 3,000 to PHP 6,000.

From Siargao Airport, the journey to General Luna takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour by van. Shared van transfers usually cost between PHP 300 to PHP 500 per person. For a more comfortable and direct transfer, private van hire is available, though it will be more expensive. Planning to book flight tickets early is crucial for securing better prices and ensuring your travel dates are accommodated.

While less common for tourists due to the time involved, it is possible to travel to Siargao via ferry and land transport. This usually involves taking a ferry from major ports like Surigao City to Dapa Port in Siargao, followed by a land transfer to General Luna. This option is significantly longer, often taking over a day, and is generally chosen by those on a very tight budget or seeking a more adventurous journey.

Best Time to Visit General Luna, Siargao Islands

The peak season for surfing and general tourism in Siargao typically runs from September to May. During these months, the weather is generally drier, and the waves are at their best, especially for experienced surfers. The months of September and October are particularly popular for major surf competitions. This period also sees higher accommodation prices and more crowds.

For travelers looking to avoid the biggest crowds and potentially find more affordable rates, the shoulder months can be ideal. The period from June to August offers a different vibe, with smaller waves and a higher chance of rain, though it's still a beautiful time to visit for those interested in island hopping and exploring the non-surfing attractions. The weather can be unpredictable, but you'll find a more relaxed atmosphere.

Considering the climate, the dry season from March to May generally offers the most consistent sunshine and calm seas, making it perfect for island hopping and beach activities. However, for surfers, the prime swell season is from September to November. It’s a good idea to check weather forecasts closer to your travel dates, but generally, Siargao is a year-round destination with distinct periods offering different experiences for every type of traveler.

Many restaurants in General Luna serve their own unique take on this classic dish, often using locally caught tuna or mackerel.

The city needs to introduce noise violations. I think a shubu dealer makes frequent deliveries nearby. Very annoying motor bike about every thirty minutes from 8- 11 p.m. it's a vacation destination and people pay good money to visit unfortunately not good sleep due to the locals. Construction at 6 a.m. video okie next door til midnight and like I said the motor bike ever half hour. What I enjoyed was the unlimited coffee I see why it's unlimited now. The hot water was perrrrrfect and a cute little kitty was very friendly! Safe area I had no concerns walking the street. Plenty of tuk tuk drivers as well will run you to cloud nine for 50 ph peso. Watch out leaving cloud nine thou trik drivers on the scam trying for triple price.

Solid place to stay with friendly staff, there were several power outages and like the rest of the island the internet was a bit sketchy. The people who run it are friendly and helpful and Will genuinely try to help. You’ll be located on the main road to GL and it’s about 30 pesos to get food in the evening or you can rent a moped which I very much enjoyed. Mark and Lawrence is a little general store nearby and there’s a pharmacy nearby too. The resort isn’t on a beach or anything so you will be travelling back an fourth.

A pleasant place just outside of city center so you do not have the noise from the bar scenes. Staff was very friendly and helpful

Nice stay. The rooms are simple but have great seats. The open but roofed courtyard building is surrounded by high green plants with red flowers which gives the place a very nice feel. owners and niece are very welcoming.

The accomodations was ok. Definitely not a resort in the true sense of a resort. It is obvious maintenance is not top of the list. Leaking face basin. tiolet seat was a mess etc.

It’s cozy, quiet and you get to have your own privacy. I just wish they would also include complimentary breakfast for guests booking outside directly with them…

Everyone is friendly and attentive. The property is cozy, quaint and comfortable. This place has the basics and very unpretentious. It's like your perfect home in Siargao.
