I grew up in Project 4 and with relatives in the area. For my visit, I wanted convenience to be around them and this was a perfect location from me. The surrounding neighborhood area is not the most pleasant view but that has nothing to do with the facility. Thank you for a most pleasant stay!

Your Travel Guide to Quezon City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Quezon City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For travelers coming from other parts of the Philippines, flying into Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila is the most common method. Major airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia operate frequent flights to Manila from various provincial capitals. Flight durations can range from 30 minutes to over an hour, with fares typically varying between PHP 2,000 to PHP 5,000 for a round trip, depending on the season and how far in advance you book flight.

From NAIA, you can reach Quezon City via taxi, ride-sharing services, or public transport. A taxi or Grab car ride can cost between PHP 400 to PHP 600 and take approximately 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, heavily influenced by traffic. For a more budget-friendly option, you can take the airport shuttle or a bus towards Cubao or other major Quezon City terminals, then transfer to a local jeepney or tricycle.

If you are traveling from nearby provinces like Pampanga, Bulacan, or Laguna, bus travel is a practical and economical choice. Numerous bus terminals in Metro Manila serve routes to these provinces. For example, buses bound for Cubao or Kamias in Quezon City are readily available. Bus fares typically range from PHP 200 to PHP 400, and travel times can vary from 1.5 to 3 hours. Driving your own vehicle is also an option, utilizing expressways like the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), with toll fees adding to the cost.

Best Time to Visit Quezon City

The Philippines experiences a tropical climate, and Quezon City is no exception. The best time to visit is generally during the dry season, which runs from November to April. During these months, you can expect sunny days with lower humidity, making it ideal for outdoor activities and exploring the city. Temperatures typically range from 25°C to 33°C.

The period from December to February is particularly pleasant, with cooler temperatures and less rainfall, making it a peak tourist season. If you prefer to avoid the largest crowds and potentially find better deals on accommodation, consider visiting during the shoulder months of November or late April. The wet season, from May to October, brings frequent rain showers, which can sometimes be heavy, but also means fewer tourists and potentially lower prices for a cheap hotel.

Food and Dining Near Quezon City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Quezon City, like the rest of Metro Manila, is a culinary melting pot. A must-try for any Filipino traveler is Adobo, the unofficial national dish. Whether it's chicken or pork, simmered in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns, its savory and tangy flavor is a comforting taste of home. You can find excellent versions in local eateries and even in some hotel restaurants.

Another Filipino favorite is Sinigang, a sour soup that comes in various forms, most commonly with pork, beef, or seafood, and tamarind broth. Its distinct sourness is a palate cleanser and a staple in Filipino households. For a taste of something sweet and refreshing, Halo-Halo is essential. This popular dessert is a delightful mix of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, and topped with leche flan and ube ice cream.

For those seeking grilled delights, Lechon Kawali, crispy fried pork belly, offers a satisfying crunch and rich flavor, often served with a dipping sauce. And no culinary exploration of the Philippines is complete without trying Sisig, a sizzling dish made from chopped pig's face and ears, seasoned with onions, chili, and calamansi. It's a popular "pulutan" or bar snack, but delicious any time of day. Many restaurants in areas like Tomas Morato and Scout areas in Quezon City offer these dishes.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Quezon City

Filipino culture is known for its warmth and hospitality. When interacting with locals, a polite demeanor, a smile, and using terms like "po" and "opo" when addressing elders or those in authority are highly appreciated. Respect for elders and family is paramount. Be mindful of personal space in crowded areas and avoid loud or disruptive behavior.

When it comes to safety, Quezon City is generally safe for tourists, but like any major urban center, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings. Keep your valuables secure, especially in crowded public places like markets or terminals. Avoid displaying expensive items openly. It's also advisable to use reputable transportation services. In case of emergencies, the local police hotline is 117.

For navigating the city and staying connected, several apps are highly recommended. Grab is essential for booking rides and food delivery. Google Maps is invaluable for navigation, providing real-time traffic updates. GCash or Maya are useful for cashless transactions, widely accepted in many establishments. For staying updated on local news and events, consider downloading a local news app.

Check in process is a bit inconvenient. It required health questionnaires and declaration form which I thought only happens at the airport upon arrival. While the lighting is sufficient and bedding is ok, no warm water. Breakfast is not complimentary as it states upon booking. I went there and was asked to pay per order. It’s expensive too. WiFi is slow as well.

The staff at the Soleste was more than gracious and accommodating to me for my stay. I ended up upgrading my room on an initial stay and then re-booked after a few days away. I never had any issues with the room, and the staff even assisted me in trying to ship an item home. Thank you all for an enjoyable stay and I will think about coming back on my next trip.

The place is nice and clean. They have supportive staff to help and guide you. We stayed for one night because it is near to where we go the following day. It is SOP for them to check your room before you checkout and it is good that they gave to us what we left in their cabinet. Kudos to that roomboy who checked our room. My only negative observation is to be true on the rooms you published when customers booked for their rooms especially on the type or number of beds that will be in that room. Reality does not result to expectation.

Absolutely great boutique hotel. Great complimentary breakfast, with an option of having it as room service. Surrounding area is clean and quiet. Hotel staff are always on hand to help. Though it is a bit far from the airport, and a bit cumbersome during rush hour, this hotel is still worth the long drive. Most of all, the hotel provides absolutely GREAT and personalized service.

Staff and service was great and property was clean. What i didn't like was that in the bar area, there were hard liquors displayed but, guest weren't allowed to order it because it was for their bosses. I suggest not to display it then.

My stay at Soleste Suites couldn't have gotten any better. Overall, my initial thoughts about the hotel and staff. 1. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Any requests or issues were resolved within the same day. 2. The hotel inside and out was flawless. The upkeep was excellent. There were no trash lingering or things out of place. 3. The food and service by the café staff was excellent. The staff were always smiling and very friendly. 4. The parking lot attendant/security guard was on point. They always directed traffic when leaving the parking lot, and helped us in with our luggage. 5. The speed of communication was fast. Response time almost immediate. I would definitely stay again on my next trip back to the Philippines.

This was a comfortable stay for the price. Pleased with my choice. Highly recommend if you’re ballin’ on a budget. Likes: Staff was very helpful and courteous Decent breakfast for most; for vegetarians very limited Decent size room Easy to get a Grab for transportation Accessible to the main road Dislikes: Traffic was 24/7 noise. Definitely not for light sleepers. Not very walkable (Thank goodness for Grab) Shower can flood the bathroom if not mindful Lighting placement was disjointed

I choose this hotel because I very well know the place where it is located,I grew up in Proj4, QC. Its near that house. It may not be a 4-5 star hotel but its comfy enough for me to stay for a week “ budget wisely”, and its amenities😁.Staff’s are friendly, helpful, attentive and always addressed my issues quickly.Safe enough to stay for a single/solo woman traveler like me.Its very convenient to go around the nearby shopping areas, and easy to go all the nearest highways, its next to C5( katipunan ave) if you’re going towards the major airport. Very safe place to go. If you love/like to walk like me the there’s a lot if food/ restaurant places along that street ( katipunan ave,to find some food to eat.

I grew up in Project 4 and with relatives in the area. For my visit, I wanted convenience to be around them and this was a perfect location from me. The surrounding neighborhood area is not the most pleasant view but that has nothing to do with the facility. Thank you for a most pleasant stay!

Staff is really nice, and the floor model and hotel designs are really nice. Unfortunately my room was infested with spiders, and I had several of spider bites all over me and had to end my stay early. Just make sure your room is clean and you’re good to go!
