Your Travel Guide to Pasig as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Pasig from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For convenient booking, book flight tickets through Traveloka and compare fares across major airlines.

For many Filipino travelers, reaching Pasig City often begins with a flight into Metro Manila. Major airports like Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) serve numerous domestic routes. From various Philippine cities, you can find flights with fares that can range from PHP 2,000 to PHP 6,000 or more, depending on the origin, airline, and booking time. Once you land in Manila, you can book your flight to your next destination or arrange for land transport to Pasig.

Traveling to Pasig from other parts of Luzon can be done via bus. Major bus terminals in Metro Manila connect to various provincial routes. The bus fare typically ranges from PHP 400 to PHP 1,000, depending on the distance. For those driving their own vehicles, Pasig is accessible via major expressways like the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), connecting to EDSA and other arterial roads leading to Pasig. Toll fees can add up, so it's wise to factor this into your travel budget.

The journey within Metro Manila to reach Pasig can be subject to heavy traffic, especially during peak hours. Utilizing ride-sharing apps or taxis is a common and convenient option. For a more budget-friendly approach, jeepneys and buses also ply routes that pass through Pasig. Planning your travel time, especially if you have a flight to catch or an appointment to keep, is essential to avoid delays caused by traffic congestion.

Best Time to Visit Pasig

Pasig City, like much of Metro Manila, experiences a tropical climate characterized by two main seasons: the dry season and the wet season. The dry season generally runs from November to April, offering sunnier days and lower humidity, making it a popular time for outdoor activities and exploration. Temperatures during this period typically range from 25°C to 35°C. This is often considered the peak tourist season.

The wet season, from May to October, brings with it higher chances of rainfall, often in the form of heavy afternoon downpours. While this season can be more humid, it also means fewer crowds and potentially lower accommodation prices, offering a different kind of appeal for budget-conscious travelers. The rain can sometimes disrupt outdoor plans, but it also brings a refreshing coolness to the city.

For Filipino travelers looking for a balance of good weather and manageable crowds, the shoulder months of November and February to April can be ideal. These periods often provide pleasant weather without the intensity of the peak season. Regardless of when you choose to visit, Pasig offers a dynamic urban experience year-round.

Food and Dining Near Pasig — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Pasig City and its surrounding areas offer a rich culinary landscape that reflects the diverse flavors of Filipino cuisine. When you're in the area, make sure to try classic dishes that are beloved across the archipelago. Adobo, a national dish, is a must-try, featuring meat (often chicken or pork) braised in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns. Its savory and slightly tangy profile is a true taste of home.

Another essential dish is Sinigang, a sour and savory soup, typically made with tamarind broth, meat (pork, beef, or fish), and a variety of vegetables like kangkong, radish, and tomatoes. The comforting warmth and distinct sourness of Sinigang make it a favorite, especially on cooler or rainy days. You can find excellent versions in local eateries and restaurants throughout Pasig.

For those who enjoy grilled specialties, Lechon Kawali, crispy deep-fried pork belly, is a delight. Its crunchy exterior and tender, juicy meat, usually served with a dipping sauce of soy sauce and vinegar, are incredibly satisfying. Another popular option is Kare-Kare, a rich stew made with oxtail, tripe, and vegetables in a thick peanut sauce, traditionally served with bagoong (shrimp paste) on the side. These dishes represent the heart of Filipino home cooking and are readily available for you to explore.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Pasig

Understanding local customs can greatly enhance your experience in Pasig. Filipinos are generally known for their hospitality and politeness. Using "po" and "opo" when addressing elders or those in authority is a sign of respect. When visiting religious sites like the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of the Abandoned, dress modestly out of respect.

Safety in Metro Manila is a common concern, but with awareness, you can have a secure trip. It's advisable to be mindful of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas, and to keep your valuables secure. Avoid displaying expensive items openly. For emergencies, the national emergency hotline is 911. Having local contact numbers for your hotel and any local friends or family is also a good practice.

To navigate Pasig and Metro Manila more easily, several apps can be very useful. Ride-sharing apps like Grab are essential for booking transportation, offering convenience and transparent pricing. Navigation apps such as Google Maps are indispensable for finding your way around the city and estimating travel times. For staying updated on local news and events, or for communication, apps like Facebook Messenger are widely used.

Room was ok. Staff were generally friendly but don’t answer email. Accommodations had some damage in places. No walk in shower and the tub is high and is difficult for seniors to get into and out of. Overall it fits the description of a 3 star hotel. Clean but not perfect.

I've been staying here for 2 years now for weeks at a time when I travel to Antipolo. Never have I ever been charged for an extra towel. 100 pesos. It's not about the money. I tip my driver 1000 pesos from taking me from europcar to terminal 1 (5 minute drive cause I appreciate the kindness). This is the only hotel in the whole world who has ever charged me for an extra towel. Based off principle, I'll be looking else where on my next visits to Antipolo City.

I had three different rooms in two days and gave up in the end! First room no hot water, toilet seat hanging off, tap very loose, dirty carpet. Second room toilet seat loose, wardrobe sliding doors hanging off, laminate edging coming off, grubby carpet and aircon unbearably noisy! Third room noisy aircon, toilet seat loose, grubby carpet, one bedside wall light not working, hanging off, and unable to switch off main lights from bedside switches! The breakfast was disgusting, tried two mornings then didn't bother again! No senior staff, staff uncaring and allways on mobiles! Waited over 30 minutes for complimentary water and toilet roll which they had to send a member of staff to buy from local shop! For a 3ish year old property it'sgot a lot of maintenance issues! Avoid likethe plague definitely not recommended!

The hotel can be a bit hard to find but is quite comfortable albeit small. It is part of a condo development with mainly rented condos. The hotel rooms are small but comfortable. I find it very convenient on the Northern side of Manila as we have family nearby. Probably too far out of the way for tourists without their own transport. It has a large pool and a small restro for breakfast. There are a range of Restaurants and a large Market nearby but best suited for someone with their own transport.

The hotel was booked as a two bedroom with two double beds. There were four people in our group so the hotel demanded another 1700 PHP as the room booked through Hotels.com they claimed was for 2. However breakfast was for 2 (we did not have breakfast), the room was fitted with 2 waters, 2 towels and when talking to staff on different shifts they simply did not seem to know what anything really was. Rooms were very small however the beds were comfortable. I would not stay there again. the 1700 PHP was not shown on "Hotels" and we did not even arrive until 3:00 AM so a real rip off of a place.

We've stayed at number111. The condition of the room was so bad, so many ants in the room. The pool was very dirty :-/ on our one week stay in the condotel there's no day that the pool was cleaned. The staff was so very rude like they will ask straight for the payment before giving a reason.

The hotel was nicely situated, the room very comfortable, the staff were helpful and pleasant. The pool caught the Sun but there was shade if the Sun got too much. My only gripe was the breakfasts, very limited choice and very basic.

This hotel gets a passing grade from me. However, when you turn the faucet on in the washroom sink, the water comes out running hot. And, the pressure of the water coming out from the faucet is not that great. Furthermore, there was no cold water coming out of the faucet, every time you turn it on. I think the water heater was damaged. The shower was perfect. It had the right amount of water pressure and warm water came out from the shower head. The air conditioner on the other hand in the hotel room had a lot of trouble. It kept shutting off throughout the night during my last night at the hotel. By the way, I stayed in room 103. And, I am a regular customer of this hotel.

When I checked out of the hotel, the staff asked for my credit card and I was charged again for my stay. Expedia also collected the fees and charged my credit card.

The hotel is part of a larger complex of apartments and provides good affordable accomodation in Cainta. It is close to several malls and very comfortable.

The hotel is clean and pleasant but is a little hard to find and in a developing area. There isn't much close to the hotel and I found the food service very basic. The rooms are adequate and have a fridge which is convenient and parking is readily available. Would happily stay here again.
