Come With Me and Escape
We were looking for a quick get-away before the busy season comes and we wanted to go for something local and dog friendly. We have two Siberian Huskies with us and there wasn't much option when it comes to hotels or resorts who would accommodate dogs. So this resort is a BIG PLUS for us. THEY DO ALLOW PETS.
It's a three and a half hour drive from the city, 4 or 5 if you make all those stop overs before getting to Alegria. The road is not that bad, but the road just before the entrance part of the resort was too muddy and rugged, and funny that's the only bad spot of the road.
If you're looking for a luxury resort, don't expect anything much from this place. But finding this nice haven makes it all worth while. The price for the Chalet which allows 4 people is decent. Toilet and shower room is standard for a province area. Wi-fi is not that strong, but then again, we weren't there for that, rather to spend time relaxing by the beach.
The beach front is nice, it's amazing to be able to walk around seeing a lot of sea creatures on the pools by the beach when it's low tide. (Discovered a lot of sea star, saw a small sea snake, odd looking sea slugs) On a high tide, the water is deep enough to do jumps off the pier or do some kayaking, You can hire a boat to take you to the snorkeling spot. But bring your own snorkeling gears.
The staff is friendly, but expected island lifestyle service. The food is not bad, pretty expensive, but we tried their garlic shrimp it was really good. (Just have to order ahead of time – I would give my order at least an hour ahead to give the cook enough time to prepare everything, for breakfast I would order the night before and set the time when we'll be eating.) Any activity you want to do where in you need the service of the staff, just plan it ahead and make arrangements with them.
The down side, we actually had to move to the other rooms because apparently the Chalet we rented was fully booked and was going to be occupied by a bridal party the next day. The receptionist informed us after checking-in. It wasn't that much of a hassle to move and we got two rooms which is more expensive than the one we were staying in and they didn't charge us for that. We decided to move instead of waiting for the bridal party the next day. But over all, it wasn't that bad. Just make sure you call to confirm your booking at least there won't be a mistake.
Over all, we liked our stay at SunXi mainly because we spent a lot of time going out on our adventures around southern Cebu and it's near everywhere. And plus the fact that they allowed dogs, we were able to go to our adventures and enjoy our vacation with them. Would definitely want to go back there.
