noisy
I only stayed there 6 hours (even though I paid for entire night) because they had construction going on, and the noise was unbearable. I checked in at 2 pm and checked out at 8 pm because there was no sleeping at that place. There was no manager when i checked out. I have written them an email but they choose to ignore me, so it was a very expensive 6 hours

Just when I thought it was gettin better!
I have stayed at Swagmans on many occasions and have written a few reviews. I thought the hotel was getting better with the noticeable improvements they are trying to make to the rooms, but I think this is my absolute last time utilizing this hotel. I spent one night in Room 38 and I saw and killed more roaches in one night than I have during the entire year of 2017. There were roaches all over the cr, on the desk tops, and even on the bed. I did not sleep during the night and actually the only reason I stayed was for the convenience of the airport shuttle at 5am. The shuttle is still the only good thing about this place. When I informed the front desk about the roach problem I just get a deer in the headlights look. I guess they already know about the roaches. Time to stop being cheap and go elsewhere...

I think ownership has changed and its gone down hill.
I ordered coffee for the smoking room and although the place was empty it took 20 minsto arrive!! and tasted like dishwater. I ordered instant after that which was much cheaper and OK to drink. My room was terrible. I had to used WC in reception as mine was too low so parts of me touched the porcelain and the seat slithered all over the place. Reception WC didn't have tissue in either cubicle!!! I will never stay there again. I have posted pics of my room to show the dilapidation..

Lots of improvements
We again used Swagman for my annual visit to Manila for medical purposes. The free airport pickup is always appreciated and is easier than trying to fight for a Taxi. The rooms have been upgraded since my last visit. The lighting is now better than the dim lighting in previous years. The food has increased but still a good price and very tasty. We were allowed to have the breakfast buffet even though it was almost 10AM. Service was a lot better than in past years. We took the bus (2 vans) to Angeles City and the service is excellent. The driver is very attentive and obeys all road rules.

I wouldn't stay there again. They really need to fix some major issues in the room.
Being an Aussie plus that the FlyTheBus service leaves directly from this hotel I thought I'd give it ago regardless of the many poor reviews. Firstly it's no longer Australian owned & hasn't been for years. Besides some of the decor there's nothing Australian about this place. The service was fine & the staff helpful The restaurant is nice but too dark & too cold with the aircon blasting away far too high making you feel like you're in a wind tunnel if you sit directly in it's path. The food itself was quite good. Getting to the room is a disaster. First of all you've got to wind through various rooms & alcoves just to find the lifts. What appears to be a normal size lift was out of service & from all reports has been out for quite some time. The alternative lift is tiny taking just two people plus luggage. Being 183cm so normal height for an Aussie man you have to remember to duck under a concrete beam on the way into the lift. I'm sure many taller people have injured themselves as a result of this poor structure & there's no warning signs or anything to indicate this problem. Worse still this one & only lift stopped working a number of times so was often out of service so guests had to use the stairs instead. Not acceptable at all for any multi floor hotel. I stayed in a so called deluxe room. It was spacious enough & the bed was OK. The TV was OK as well but several of my favourite cable channels had very poor reception & were unwatchable. No tea or coffee making equipment in the room which is just hopeless for any standard of hotel. As is often the case all over S.E.Asia there were no spare powerpoints so bringing my trusty travel adaptor & powerboard are must have travel accessories to this part of the world. This hotel was no exception with no spare power anywhere near the desk. The window overlooking the back lane had no sealing so noise from the lane & mosquitoes were able to get in which was terrible & made sleeping very difficult at times. The WiFi was anything from fair to not working at all for long periods of time. Worst of all the bathroom reeked of a sewerage smell that made me feel sick in there & the stupid toilet was a tiny kid size Filipino type that also rarely flushed properly. The bathroom alone makes me tell any reader do not stay at this place. I've stayed in much cheaper budget hotels around the Philippines & in those aspects this was one of the worst bathrooms I've ever encountered. The shower was fine but I couldn't stay in there for long because of the smell. If the deluxe room I had possessed such shortcomings how bad would the budget rooms be? I'm not sure there are any good rooms so a very strange place indeed where the public areas would indicate it's actually a very nice hotel. A great shame they don't put the same effort into the rooms cause that's where it really counts. Finally I'm not sure if the FlyTheBus van is still directly associated with the swagman hotels there at Manila & where it departs in Angeles but it was poorly run on this occasion. I use FlyTheBus a lot as it conveniently picks up (at least in Angeles & Subic, not sure about Manila) & drops off at your location of choice which is very handy if you've got lot's of luggage. On this occasion it was overbooked & I had some guys big heavy bag leaning against me for most of the trip. Another fella had to opt out as there was no seat for him. How they can't count passenger ticket sales for an 8 seat van is beyond me but that's classically typical disorganised Philippines. A luggage trailer would also be a good idea. So in summary this hotel is not as budget priced as nearby competitors yet it's got some serious shortcomings that are so bad I wouldn't recommend staying here to anyone.
