We stayed here only one night but the hospitality was amazing. This is also a very serene and beautiful resort that’s very affordable and still luxurious. 1. Beach access is really easy and if your building is further - they have golf carts at the ready! They provide mats and towels. 2. The food is really really good! We had breakfast food for breakfast and lunch and the Sinigang is really tasty. 3. The staff is super attentive, helpful and all very very nice! 4. We had a minor incident re: luggage being delivered outside of our room and was left there for 4sh hours. The entire building is secure with access only to people staying there but we arrived early and paid the half day rate so that we can go freshen up and hit the ground running. But since we still had to wait 30 mins for room to be ready, we decided to head to the pool/beach. So by the time they came to deliver my room keys, we were having so much fun that when asked what to do with luggage, I had asked them to deliver it to my room while I stayed at the pool. They never said anything about their policy that they don’t enter unless client is in room but this is the first ever, in all my years of travel, that they would leave it outside even after I asked them to deliver to my room. I just assumed that means inside. So please make sure everyone is clear on communication. It made me upset but Belle, the manager, refunded my early check in fee since I didn’t actually enter room until 4sh pm!

It is a little isolated from the main strip but that is why it is one of the best locations, you have privacy on the beach...and the walk does everyone good. Staff fantastic. It is a large resort but they are only utilizing the front oceanfront 50 suites. the pools are quiet and the guys in the gym are great to help you out as well. Well Done!

SUPER BONGGA!!

Your Travel Guide to Boracay Island as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Boracay Island from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For convenient booking, book flight tickets through Traveloka and compare fares across major airlines.

For most Filipino travelers heading to Boracay Island, flying is the most practical and time-efficient method. Major airlines operate frequent flights from Manila (MNL) and other key cities like Cebu (CEB) to Caticlan Airport (MPH), which is the closest airport to Boracay. Flight durations are typically around 1 hour and 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can fly into Kalibo International Airport (KLO), which is about a 1.5 to 2-hour van ride from Caticlan Jetty Port. Flight prices can vary significantly, so it's wise to book flight tickets in advance, especially during peak travel seasons, to find more affordable options.

From the airport, you'll need to take a short tricycle ride to the Caticlan Jetty Port. Here, you'll pay terminal and environmental fees before boarding a boat for the approximately 15-minute sea crossing to Boracay Island. Upon arrival at Boracay's Cagban Port, another tricycle ride will take you to your accommodation, such as The Auhana. While this multi-step process might seem involved, it's a well-established routine for visitors and part of the island's charm.

For budget-conscious travelers, bus travel is an option, though significantly longer. Buses depart from various terminals in Manila heading towards Caticlan. This journey can take upwards of 10 to 12 hours, making it a considerable commitment. However, it offers a more economical way to reach the island if time is not a primary constraint. Regardless of your chosen mode of transport, planning your journey and booking necessary components like flights can make your trip smoother.

Best Time to Visit Boracay Island

Boracay Island experiences two primary seasons: the dry season and the wet season. The dry season, generally from November to May, is considered the peak tourist period. During these months, you can expect sunny skies, calm seas, and pleasant temperatures, making it ideal for beach activities, swimming, and water sports. The period between November and February is particularly popular due to the cooler, drier weather.

The wet season, from June to October, brings occasional rainfall and stronger winds, which can sometimes affect sea conditions. However, this period also sees fewer crowds and potentially lower prices for flights and accommodation, offering a different kind of appeal for travelers seeking a more tranquil visit. Even during the wet season, Boracay remains beautiful, and there are often periods of sunshine interspersed with the rain.

For Filipino travelers looking for the best balance of good weather and manageable crowds, the shoulder months of November and May can be excellent choices. These periods often offer favorable conditions without the peak season intensity. Ultimately, Boracay is a year-round destination, and the "best" time to visit often depends on your personal preferences for weather, budget, and the desired atmosphere.

Food and Dining Near Boracay Island — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

No trip to the Philippines is complete without indulging in its rich culinary landscape, and Boracay Island offers plenty of opportunities to savor local flavors. One dish you absolutely must try is Kinilaw, the Filipino version of ceviche. Fresh raw fish, typically tuna or tanigue, is marinated in vinegar, onions, ginger, and chili peppers, offering a tangy and refreshing taste that perfectly complements the tropical climate. You can find excellent Kinilaw at many local eateries and seafood restaurants scattered across the island.

Another Filipino favorite that you'll find readily available is Adobo. Whether it's chicken, pork, or a combination, the savory and slightly tangy flavor derived from soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns is a comforting taste of home for many. Many restaurants on Boracay offer their own take on this classic dish, so be sure to sample it. It’s a staple that represents the heart of Filipino home cooking.

For seafood lovers, grilled specialties are a must. Freshly caught fish, squid, and prawns are often grilled to perfection and served with a variety of dipping sauces. Enjoying these seaside, perhaps with a side of garlic rice and a cold San Miguel beer, is a characteristic Boracay dining experience. Look for stalls and restaurants along White Beach that showcase their daily catch.

Don't forget to try Halo-Halo for dessert. This popular Filipino treat is a delightful concoction of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, leche flan, and ube ice cream. It's a colorful and refreshing way to end a meal, offering a burst of sweetness and varied textures. Finding a good Halo-Halo is a quest in itself, and many local spots pride themselves on their unique recipes.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Boracay Island

Boracay Island, while a tourist hotspot, retains a distinct local culture influenced by its fishing village roots and the influx of visitors. Respect for the environment is paramount; you'll notice strict regulations regarding waste disposal and the protection of marine life. Always dispose of your trash properly and be mindful of the natural surroundings. Filipinos are generally warm and hospitable, so engaging with locals with a smile and a polite greeting ("Magandang araw po") goes a long way.

Safety on Boracay Island is generally high, but as with any travel destination, it's wise to be aware. Stick to well-lit and populated areas, especially at night. Be cautious of overly friendly strangers offering unsolicited help or deals that seem too good to be true. Keep your valuables secure and be mindful of your belongings, particularly in crowded areas like D'Mall or along White Beach. In case of emergencies, local authorities can be contacted through standard emergency numbers.

For seamless travel, having a few essential apps on your smartphone can be incredibly helpful. A reliable map application is crucial for navigating the island's pathways and locating attractions. Ride-hailing apps or local transport booking apps can also be useful for getting around efficiently. Communication apps are vital for staying in touch with travel companions or your hotel.

Well Done!

The hotel is nicely located, but the quality of the food ruins the stay. for breakfast we received an all-carte menu with a few sweet items to choose from! The hotel doesn't even offer cheese, ham or vegetables for breakfast! The staff doesn't care about food allergies. Gluten everywhere. no information about allergens. the staff doesn't speak English and I ordered, for example, espresso and received iced coffee. very expensive and the quality of the food was terrible. I am attaching photos of the entire (I emphasize the entire) breakfast! terrible!

The property is gorgeous! Beyond my expectation. The Auhana staff, from the welcome personnel at the gate, the the pool attendant, there all Ritz carlton/ Four season Hotel service! "Stress free" stay. They always ahead of what your family needs, especially for the little one. Worth the money, compare from the other 5 start hotel around the island of boracay! Thank you so much Auhana. We'll definitely come back

The best Boracay stay for my family and we will definitely return. Having gone to Boracay many times before and being with young children and early teens, we chose The Auhana for the safety, privacy and secluded beach. There was an extra charge per person for the private transfer from the airport but this was money well spent if your are looking for exclusivity and safety for your family. It was impeccable service from the airport to the resort and our check-in process was fast, efficient and came with delicious farm to table drinks and snack. We then received a short tour of this wonderful resort so the children got to see where they wanted to spend time. Great kids areas. Kids Club, Kids pool with fountains and the teens had the games room and movie theater. The rooms are so nicely and comfortably done with kind helpful housekeepers. Breakfast was ala carte order when we went and so well prepared, plentiful and freshly made. This is hand down the best value for money beach spot and resort for families in Boracay.

The hotel is really nice and spacious. It was just a disappointment that we were not picked up and waited for an hour trying to reach them. Same thing dropping off to the airport. Checked out and came to find out they didnt know I confirmed a transportation booking. Breakfast should be buffet apparently the 2nd day it was ala carte and without it knowing i was starving and ready to eat and surprise no food took an hour to finally serve the food for a simple breakfast meal

This resort gave us a short lived experience that we’ll probably never forget . There we good and bad experiences but we lean more toward on the negatives . Upon arriving, our friend who was the first one to arrive was not fetched by the hotel transfer accommodation which was confirmed the day before. Yes, this hotel has the look for an exquisite, luxurious feel but the management made us experience otherwise . The rooms we booked were spacious and comfortable, had a great view and had a peaceful surrounding. We booked in a 5 star place so that we can experience an awesome stay. From 14 hours flight to waiting for an hour to be picked up. Called and put on hold for a while with no definite answer why they were not able to show up and picked up. Ended up carrying our luggage to transfer from airport to the port and to the hotel. We were just lucky that we speak the language to ask around. What if i dont speak the language or even speak English, I could not imagine how a relaxing vacation could turn out into a very traumatic experience not knowing where to go. In addition to these, they will let you sign 4 papers to pay for your bill in their resto, no option to pay for cash but credit card. Also breakfast experience was annoying in a way that they were not able to provide the coupon for it that we have to go back to the reception to get it. They said that we were on the list but they needed the coupon. This is definitely not a 5 star experience when you are starving.

We were not able to avail of our reserved 2 days accommodation w/ Auhana resort due to Taal Volcano’s eruption. All flights were cancelled. Shout out to Anna of Expedia- Phoenix office for her efficient job & patience in helping me cancel my reservation. It really took her 2 days before Auhana Hotel acknowledge her call & request. Anyway, we weren’t able to get a refund, but instead a re booking w/in 90 days except for peak season w/c is quite impossible since we live in the US. We also have a 1 day reservation w/ Coast hotel. They refunded us the money w/out problem. Coast Hotel has a complimentary Round trip airport pick up whereas Auhana charged us $165.00 for a 1 way airport pick up. Refer to the customers’ reviews & Coast hotel has more happy customers than Auhana. We consider coming back to the Philippines next year, Boracay will be in our itinerary, & it will be 100% Coast Hotel for our accommodations.

Although it’s a new hotel, they tried their best to accommodate our very large group of 40 people. Leo was great in securing meals for my daughters who had peanut allergy. service was always on point. My daughter had to go to the ER and the hotel attendant accompanied us to the hospital and to get prescriptions as well. So, I was very happy and I appreciated the effort. The only recommendation I would make is to improve their menu of food. The food was OK. There was not a lot of selection and not many kid friendly meals.
