Your Travel Guide to General Trias as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to General Trias from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For convenient booking, book flight tickets through Traveloka and compare fares across major airlines.

Traveling to General Trias from Manila is quite accessible. If you prefer flying, you can book flight tickets to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila. Fares can range from PHP 2,000 to PHP 5,000 or more, depending on the airline and booking time. From NAIA, you can take a taxi or a pre-booked car service to General Trias, a journey that typically takes 1.5 to 2 hours, costing around PHP 1,500 to PHP 2,500.

Alternatively, bus travel offers a more budget-friendly option. Buses bound for Cavite provinces, including those passing through General Trias, depart regularly from terminals in Metro Manila, such as those in Pasay or Cubao. The bus fare usually ranges from PHP 150 to PHP 300, and the travel time can be between 2 to 3 hours, depending on traffic.

For those driving their own vehicles, General Trias is accessible via major expressways like the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and the Emilio Aguinaldo Highway. The driving route will depend on your starting point in Manila. Toll fees can add up, typically ranging from PHP 200 to PHP 400 for the round trip, depending on the specific expressways used.

Best Time to Visit General Trias

The climate in General Trias, like much of the Philippines, is tropical. The dry season, generally from November to April, offers the most pleasant weather for exploring. During these months, you can expect sunny days with lower humidity, making it ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing. Temperatures typically range from 24°C to 32°C.

The wet season runs from May to October. While this period can bring rain, it doesn't necessarily mean constant downpours. Often, the rain comes in short, intense bursts, usually in the afternoon, followed by clearer skies. This time can also be less crowded and potentially offer lower accommodation prices, making it a good choice for wallet-conscious travelers.

For the best balance of good weather and manageable crowds, consider visiting during the shoulder months of November or February. These periods fall within the dry season but might offer slightly fewer tourists than the peak holiday months of December and January. Regardless of when you choose to visit, General Trias provides a welcoming atmosphere for Filipino travelers.

Food and Dining Near General Trias — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

When in General Trias, exploring the local culinary scene is a must. One iconic Filipino dish you should seek out is Adobo. Another dish that represents Filipino comfort food is Sinigang. This sour and savory soup, typically made with tamarind broth, is a delightful contrast to the tropical heat. You can find it with various meats like pork, beef, or fish, and it’s often packed with fresh vegetables.

For those who enjoy grilled specialties, Lechon Kawali is a popular choice. This deep-fried pork belly dish offers a crispy skin and tender meat, usually served with a dipping sauce. It’s a rich and satisfying dish that embodies Filipino celebratory feasts.

Don't leave without trying Kare-Kare, a rich stew made with oxtail and vegetables in a thick peanut sauce. It's traditionally served with bagoong (shrimp paste) on the side, adding a salty counterpoint to the dish's sweetness. These dishes offer a true taste of Filipino cuisine and can be found in local eateries around General Trias.

The ambience was wonderful. The staff were always respectful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was the highlight of our stay. The room was quiet and comfortable. The TV did not offer a lot of variety (cable) and the shower water did not heat up, but it's all good! The staff was very responsive and helpful! We want to stay here again!!

The bar on the 8th floor provided horrible service. They didn't have the complete appetizer on the plate. It then took 20mins to rectify. Took 20mins to have a drink delivered. Had to bus our table because staff was busy on their phones. Service tip included on bill couldn't get it removed. Took two days to activate the phone in the hotel room.

Endless ask of useless questions at checking , unnecessary to checking process like my age, my date of birth, my EXACT foreign address!! When I challenged that, I was told it was the hotel policy to ask all these questions!! When I firmly refused, they finally gave up and gave me the key!! I’m surprised they did not ask me my job, religion or sexual orientation… maybe that could be part of their hotel policy !!???

The staff, the beak fast…. The ambiance….the room…. Everyone is so nice, from the bellman to the supervisor. Just notice 1 thing, towels are kind of dirty white color, they need to replace their towels

The lobby area smells terrible. The sewer needs major clean up. Room was clean except the beddings were already old. You can tell by the color of it

Staff went above and beyond for our stay at every turn, at one point my rental car even had a flat and not only did the parking lot guard wave me over to draw my attention to it, they freely helped in swapping to a spare and getting in contact with the rental company when my phone had trouble reaching them. I can't thank the staff at the Bayleaf enough for all they did for us during our stay. It was a peaceful and relaxing experience every single day and exactly what I had hoped for in a vacation.

The property is close to my hometown. The lobby smelled like a sewer. Although the housekeeper was very nice, I had to instruct him on what area to clean. They should be trained on how to clean the room and not need to be told what specific area to clean each time. The buffet was bad, and I only ate there twice during my three-week stay. They need to consider hiring a competent cook. I consider this a 2-star hotel. The room was pre-paid through Expedia, or I would have checked out sooner.

The room was clean, entire staffs were awesome. Front desk clerks are welcoming, professional and they’ll go out of their way to assist. Bell men on top of things and polite. Security incredibly professional and welcoming always wiling to assist. Housekeeping top notch. Dining should be trainer for hospitality incredibly quick and polite. Whatever what the management is doing continue. Flawless services. I’ve reserved to be back in couple months because of how your service is. Kudos the front desk Max,JC, Kristine and Joshua you can’t ask any better team than them. Thank you again for the awesome service. I will highly recommend your hotel to my traveling friends.
