An oasis of style
Warm, friendly staff. Joan on the front desk was especially helpful, kind and professional. It's so nice to find a unique hotel with so many impersonal massive hotels in Makati. The owner John has put so much detail into the hotel, it feels authentic, like you're in a more stylish era. Recommended

Very good value for money
Stayed here 3 nights. Great location, walking distance from all the nightlife. The double room was very spacious and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and went out of their way to help us with anything from recommendations on places to visit to ordering pizza for us.

Overall good stay
I booked this hotel on my trip to Philippines. It is quite small, budget hotel but well run. Rooms are quite spacey and comfortable. The area around isn't very quite especially at nights. It isn't a big problem though. The staff of the hotel is very polite and always tries to do their best. Breakfast menu is just ok but could be improved. There were few small things like booking a Taxi instead of Uber as requested on the departure which cost me more. Overall I had a very good stay in this hotel and probably I will stay there again on the next occassion visiting Manila.

Close to the shops, restaurants, etc.
I took a room that sleeps 2 people with a double bed. They put 2 single beds together to make a double, the hot water in the shower was not always hot. I suppose a common problem in this country where many areas have no running hot water. I was surprised at no coffee making facilities or small fridge in the room. in the room. You had to ask reception if you wanted coffee. I suppose they have to be careful because things get stolen. The staff were very obliging. We had guests on the second day and the staff did not mind providing plates and cutlery for us. The room was big enough but basic.

An Evening In Makati
Usually, when in Manila, I stay in either Ermita or Malate. Since I had heard some positive things about the Clipper Hotel and since I had some business to conduct in Makati, I decided to give this hotel a try. I was not disappointed... Immediately upon my arrival at the hotel I was greatly impressed by the professionalism of the front desk staff. A nice woman that was wearing a name tag that simply identified her as a trainee did an excellent job of checking me in. The Security/Doorman was also very accommodating. My room was very clean and comfortable. I found the bed to be very relaxing and the climate controls were very easy to operate. At approximately 3:00 AM, I did hear some adult activity in another room. Fortunately, it was not loud enough to keep me awake, but I was surprised at my ability to hear sounds from another room. Speaking of adult activity, when I went across the street around midnight to purchase a few things from the Seven-Eleven, I was approached by a few night workers. Some previous Tripadvisor reviewers made mention of the hotel being in the red light district, maybe, maybe not. I will simply state that by day this is a busy, bustling part of Makati, with many restaurants, hotels, internet cafes and other nice businesses in the area. I did not find the night environment to be enough of a deal breaker to cause me to avoid the Clipper Hotel. I have to take the time to mention Joana. Her assistance and commitment to seeing to my needs was outstanding. Between Joana and Ms. Trainee I was greatly impressed by the staff at the Clipper Hotel.
