The wife and I came here as part of our honeymoon. The staff, owner (Mike), and others on the resort were amazing. Very clean, organized, the food was top notch. We ate 15/18 meals of our 6 day stay there, and regretted the other meals we didn’t eat on the resort. The free breakfast was a bonus & they even offer sandwiches for free if you are leaving before or can’t make the breakfast time. If I could rate it 6/5 stars, I would.

We had a great stay here, the room was clean and great, the staff were very helpful and we had a great stay overall! It’s not on a beachfront or anything, but the pool is very nice and there are lots of beaches on the island to choose from - also, if you are using the ‘Grab’ app for transportation, the hotel doesn’t show up, however we were still able to use the app using an address next door. I would recommend the hotel to anyone, we had a lovely and carefree stay!

Your Travel Guide to Dauis, Panglao Island as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Dauis, Panglao Island from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For convenient booking, book flight tickets through Traveloka and compare fares across major airlines.

For most Filipino travelers heading to Dauis, Panglao Island, the most convenient route is by air to Tagbilaran Airport (TAG) in Bohol. Direct flights from Manila (MNL) to Tagbilaran typically range from PHP 3,000 to PHP 7,000 for a round trip, depending on the season and how far in advance you book. The flight duration is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. From Cebu (CEB), flights are even shorter, around 45 minutes, and often more budget-friendly. Booking your flight early is key to securing the best prices.

Alternatively, you can fly into Panglao International Airport (TAG), which is closer to Dauis and Panglao Island itself. This airport serves many domestic routes. From major cities like Davao or Iloilo, you might find connecting flights through Manila or Cebu. Once you land at Tagbilaran or Panglao Airport, you can take a taxi, a pre-booked car, or a tricycle to reach The Mayana Resort in Dauis. The journey from the airport to Dauis usually takes about 30-45 minutes.

For those who prefer a more scenic, albeit longer, journey, traveling by ferry is an option. Ferries operate from various ports, including Cebu City, to Tagbilaran Seaport. Ferry tickets can range from PHP 800 to PHP 1,500, with travel times varying from 2 to 4 hours. From Tagbilaran Seaport, you will then need to take a taxi or tricycle to reach your accommodation. This option is often chosen by travelers who want to avoid air travel or who are already in a nearby province with ferry connections.

Best Time to Visit Dauis, Panglao Island

The Philippines generally experiences two main seasons: the dry season and the wet season. For Dauis and Panglao Island, the dry season, typically from December to May, is considered the best time to visit. During these months, you can expect sunny skies and calmer seas, perfect for enjoying the island's beaches and water activities. Temperatures are warm, averaging around 28-32 degrees Celsius, making it ideal for swimming and exploring.

The peak tourist season usually falls between December and February, coinciding with Christmas holidays and cooler weather in other parts of the country. During this period, expect higher accommodation rates and more crowds at popular spots. For a balance of good weather and fewer people, consider visiting during the shoulder months of March to May. This period still offers excellent weather conditions for outdoor activities.

The wet season, from June to November, brings occasional rainfall, which can range from short, heavy downpours to prolonged drizzles. While this season might see fewer tourists and potentially lower prices, the weather can be unpredictable, sometimes affecting outdoor plans. However, the rain often brings lush greenery to the island, and you can still find plenty of sunshine between showers. If you don't mind the possibility of rain, visiting during the wet season can offer a more relaxed and budget-friendly experience.

Food and Dining Near Dauis, Panglao Island — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

When exploring Dauis and the wider Panglao Island, be sure to indulge in local Boholano cuisine. A must-try is Kinilaw, the Filipino version of ceviche. Fresh raw fish, usually tuna or tanigue, is marinated in vinegar, onions, ginger, and chili peppers, offering a tangy and refreshing appetizer that perfectly complements the tropical climate. You can find excellent versions at local eateries and even at some of the more established restaurants.

Another local specialty to seek out is Peanut Kisses, a crunchy, heart-shaped cookie made from ground peanuts, flour, sugar, and eggs. These are a popular pasalubong (souvenir) from Bohol and are perfect with a cup of coffee or as a sweet snack. While not a meal, they represent a unique taste of the region and are readily available in local markets and souvenir shops.

For seafood lovers, grilled fish and seafood are abundant. Many restaurants along the coast offer freshly caught fish, prawns, and squid, grilled to perfection. Look for places that display their catch of the day, allowing you to choose your own seafood. Enjoying these simple yet delicious preparations with a side of steamed rice and a dipping sauce of soy sauce, calamansi, and chili is a characteristic Filipino dining experience.

Don't forget to try the local delicacies at places like the Bohol Bee Farm, which offers unique dishes and their famous organic ice cream in flavors like Malunggay (moringa) and Spicy Ginger. These culinary explorations are a significant part of the travel experience, allowing you to connect with the local culture through its flavors.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Dauis, Panglao Island

Filipino culture is known for its warmth and hospitality. When interacting with locals in Dauis, a friendly greeting like "Maayong adlaw" (Good day) goes a long way. Respect local customs, such as dressing modestly when visiting churches or more traditional areas. Always ask for permission before taking photos of people, especially in more rural settings. Tipping is not mandatory but is appreciated for excellent service.

Safety in Dauis and Panglao Island is generally good, but it's always wise to take standard precautions. Be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas, and keep your valuables secure. Avoid walking alone in poorly lit areas late at night. If you plan on engaging in water sports, ensure you use reputable operators and follow safety guidelines. For emergencies, know that local police and medical services are available.

For seamless travel, consider downloading a few essential apps. A reliable navigation app like Google Maps is crucial for getting around, especially if you plan to rent a motorbike or car. Ride-hailing apps might have limited availability in Dauis compared to larger cities, but they can be useful for booking transport to and from the airport or seaport. A currency converter app can be handy for managing your budget, and a translation app might be helpful if you encounter phrases you're unfamiliar with, though English is widely understood in tourist areas.

Very quiet. Service was great, immediately attended to our needs. The only thing worth mentioning is how the swimming pool was built. It was very inviting that we decided to go to the pool just right after we checked in. The set back was that the swimming pool pebble title was not at all feet friendly. You cannot even walk on it as you enter the pool and the Baja as it really hurts your feet and surely enough scratched the bottom of our feet. Didn't attempt to enter that pool again thoughout our stay at the resort. Very dangerous for kids to use that pool. They really have to do something about that.
