Your Travel Guide to Parañaque as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Parañaque from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For convenient booking, book flight tickets through Traveloka and compare fares across major airlines.

For travelers coming from other parts of the Philippines, flying into Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is the most common method. From major cities like Cebu, Davao, or Iloilo, flight durations are typically around 1 to 2 hours. You can often find competitive fares by booking your flight tickets in advance, especially if you are flexible with your travel dates. From NAIA, Parañaque is a relatively short drive.

If you are traveling from nearby provinces or regions accessible by land, bus travel is a viable and economical option. Numerous bus terminals in Metro Manila serve routes heading south, including those that pass through Parañaque. Bus fares can vary, but generally range from PHP 300 to PHP 800 depending on the origin city and bus company. This mode of transport is ideal for those who prefer a more scenic journey or are traveling with more luggage.

Driving your own vehicle offers the most flexibility. Major expressways like the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) provide access to the Parañaque area. Toll fees will apply, typically ranging from PHP 50 to PHP 150 depending on your entry and exit points. Having your own car allows you to easily navigate Parañaque and its surrounding cities at your own pace, stopping at points of interest as you please.

Best Time to Visit Parañaque

Parañaque, like much of Metro Manila, experiences a tropical climate. The best time to visit is generally during the dry season, which runs from November to April. During these months, you can expect sunny days with lower humidity, making it ideal for outdoor activities, exploring the city, and enjoying the local attractions. Temperatures typically range from 25°C to 33°C, providing pleasant weather for sightseeing.

The wet season, from May to October, brings occasional to frequent rainfall, often in the form of heavy afternoon showers. While this period can see fewer crowds and potentially lower accommodation prices, it might disrupt outdoor plans. If you choose to visit during this time, it's wise to have indoor activities as a backup and always carry an umbrella or raincoat. Regardless of the season, Parañaque offers a dynamic experience for Filipino travelers.

Food and Dining Near Parañaque — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

No trip to the Philippines is complete without indulging in its rich culinary landscape, and Parañaque offers access to a variety of local flavors. You must try Adobo, the unofficial national dish, featuring meat braised in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns. It’s a savory and tangy delight found in almost every eatery, from casual carinderias to more upscale restaurants.

Another essential dish is Sinigang, a sour and savory soup, typically made with tamarind broth and your choice of meat or seafood, along with various vegetables. Its comforting, tangy profile is a staple in Filipino households and restaurants alike. For a taste of something crispy and satisfying, Lechon Kawali, deep-fried pork belly, is a popular choice, offering a crunchy exterior and tender, flavorful meat.

Don't forget to sample Kare-Kare, a rich stew made with oxtail and vegetables in a thick, savory peanut sauce, usually served with bagoong (shrimp paste) on the side. The unique combination of flavors is a true Filipino classic. For dessert or a sweet snack, Halo-Halo, a colorful mix of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, and topped with leche flan and ube ice cream, is a refreshing treat perfect for the tropical climate.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Parañaque

Filipino culture is known for its warmth and hospitality. When interacting with locals in Parañaque, a friendly demeanor and respectful attitude go a long way. It's common to use terms like "po" and "opo" when addressing elders or those in authority, showing politeness. Understanding basic greetings like "Magandang umaga" (Good morning) or "Salamat" (Thank you) can also be appreciated.

When it comes to safety, Parañaque is generally safe for tourists, but it's always wise to exercise standard precautions. Be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas, and avoid displaying expensive items openly. Keep your valuables secure and be cautious of unsolicited offers or overly friendly strangers. For emergencies, dial 911, which is the nationwide emergency number.

To enhance your travel experience, consider downloading a few essential apps. A reliable navigation app like Google Maps is indispensable for getting around Metro Manila. Ride-sharing apps such as Grab are widely used for convenient and relatively affordable transportation. For communication, messaging apps like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger are popular among Filipinos. Having these tools readily available will make your stay in Parañaque smoother and more enjoyable.

Slow check-in, they couldn't find my booking. Pool area was nice. Steep steps up to room. Large room. Air-con took a while to kick in. Small bathroom, but clean. Staff very friendly, and arranged a cab for me to the airport at 2:30am without an issue.

The room was comfortable and clean. No facility to make coffee in the room as you'd expect from a guesthouse, but they brought a mug of hot water when asked. Breakfast so so, Filipino style, but edible. Noisy round the pool because of enclosed area. Good location close to mall, restaurants etc. I would book there again if in the area.

The help at check-in was great, including the security officer carrying our baggage to our room. The front desk was very professional and always helpful. The room was simple & clean, but was accommodating. The pool was also a plus. It is in walking distance to a super mall that has everything anyone could want, also close to the Manila Airport.

My stay was great. Service & staff were exceptional. The downside was the non-existing elevator. Three people had to bring my luggage all the way to the third floor via stairway. Not suited for the elderly (unless staying on first floor). Also, room service was 30 minutes late. Other than that, everything else was good.

The location was excellent for my purpose and because of this I am satisfied. Staff were very friendly. The room was ok. It seemed like it was not checked/prepared prior to our use so-it’s dusty and missing towels. The tv remote was also missing and when we asked, they said that housekeeping was close. Sheets and pillows were clean but old and tattered. Management should do some upgrade.

Location is convenient if you have family in the Parañaque hospital but…. Room was clean but bathroom was super tiny.

Cozy, quiet and peaceful. Perfect for being near BF Homes and only 6 minutes walk to SM BF Homes. Great Milk Tea shop right next door. Calming swimming pool. Basic but hearty daily breakfast with proper coffee available! Parking is available which is an advantage.

Great staff. Especially the security guard, who was able to help us frequently with transportation. Room is two star, but nice pool and garden area. Internet was decent too. Overall, a good experience. We would stay again.

The WiFi was intermittent at best and there was only 1 outlet in our room. We got an extension cord from the front desk and when my wife plugged it in it shot sparks and tripped a breaker somewhere in the building.
