We adored our 3 day stay. The location is far prettier than any pics you will see on the internet. The beach is fantastic as are the infinity pools by the beach and the top of the hills with THOSE views. It is breathtaking. To be clear the rooms are dated and money needs to be invested to get them up to scratch (that said, the bed was ultra comfortable). But the location, views, food (excellent) and boat trips made for a fabulous time for us.

Staffs are amazing, they all need a raise. The property is beautiful and the concept is like you're in Hawaii, but the owner needs to spend a little money in maintaining the property aesthetics, such as fixing some loose tiles on the pool and the dining area, caulking the edges of the wall in the rooms and tighten some loose power outlets. Swimming pools are beautiful but needs some scrubbing to get rid of the algae. Pool and beach chairs as well as chairs in the receiving area needs to be replaced or fixed. But overall, place is beautiful, price is reasonable. Rooms are spacious and clean. Some people think it's overpriced which I don't think it is, people needs to understand it's remote, everything they need comes from the mainland. I just hope the owner will maintain this place properly coz I hate this place to go to waste. It's so calm and beautiful, love the boat ride and the people are so nice.

Your Travel Guide to Caramoan as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Caramoan from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

Traveling to Caramoan from Manila involves a multi-step journey, often starting with air travel. You can book flight tickets to Naga City (WNP) or Legazpi City (LGP). Flights to Naga typically range from PHP 3,000 to PHP 6,000 and take about 1 to 1.5 hours. From Naga, you can take a bus or van to Sabang Port (approx. 2-3 hours, PHP 200-300) or Dalahican Port in Lucena (longer travel time).

Alternatively, for those preferring land travel, buses from Manila to Naga City are available, with fares ranging from PHP 800 to PHP 1,200 and a travel time of around 9-10 hours. From Naga, you would then proceed to the port for your boat transfer. Driving your own vehicle is also an option, though it's a long drive. Major highways like the Pan-Philippine Highway will be your route, with toll fees adding to the cost.

The final leg is the boat ride to Caramoan. From Sabang Port, boats typically go to the Caramoan mainland port. The boat fare can range from PHP 150 to PHP 300 per person, and the trip takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on sea conditions. It's crucial to check the latest boat schedules as they can change due to weather and demand.

Best Time to Visit Caramoan

The ideal time to visit Caramoan, Camarines Sur, is generally during the dry season, which runs from November to May. During these months, the weather is typically sunny with calmer seas, making it perfect for island hopping and water activities. The peak tourist season often falls between December and April, when many Filipinos and international visitors flock to the area to enjoy the pristine beaches and clear waters.

For travelers seeking a more relaxed experience with fewer crowds, consider visiting during the shoulder months of November or May. While there's a slightly higher chance of occasional rain, you'll often find more competitive prices for accommodation and tours. The wet season, from June to October, can bring heavier rainfall and rougher seas, which might disrupt boat schedules and limit outdoor activities, though it offers a more secluded experience for the adventurous.

Food and Dining Near Caramoan — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

When in Caramoan, Camarines Sur, indulging in local Bicolano cuisine is a culinary adventure you shouldn't miss. One of the most iconic dishes is Bicol Express, a rich and spicy stew made with pork, coconut milk, chilies, and shrimp paste. Its fiery kick is a signature of the region and a true test for spice lovers. You can find authentic Bicol Express in many local eateries and restaurants throughout Caramoan town and its surrounding areas.

Another must-try is Laing, a dish featuring taro leaves simmered in coconut milk with chilies and sometimes dried fish or pork. It's a creamy, flavorful, and mildly spicy delicacy that showcases the versatility of coconut milk in Bicolano cooking. For seafood enthusiasts, fresh grilled fish and other marine catches are abundant, often prepared simply to highlight their natural flavors. Look for small carinderias or beachfront eateries for the freshest options.

Don't forget to sample Kinunot, a dish made from shark or stingray meat cooked in vinegar, coconut milk, and local spices. It offers a unique texture and a tangy, slightly spicy flavor profile. These dishes represent the heart of Bicolano culinary traditions, offering a taste of the region's agricultural bounty and its love for bold flavors. Exploring these local flavors will undoubtedly enhance your travel experience in Caramoan.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Caramoan

Filipino travelers visiting Caramoan will find the local culture warm and welcoming. The people of Camarines Sur are known for their hospitality. It's customary to be polite and respectful, especially when interacting with elders. Learning a few basic phrases in the local dialect, like "Marhay na aga" (Good morning) or "Salamat" (Thank you), can go a long way in fostering positive interactions.

When it comes to safety, Caramoan is generally a safe destination for tourists. However, as with any travel, it's wise to take standard precautions. Keep your valuables secure, be aware of your surroundings, and avoid walking alone in poorly lit areas late at night. Always inform someone of your whereabouts, especially when heading out for island hopping or exploring remote areas. For emergencies, local police and medical services are available.

To enhance your trip, consider downloading a few essential apps. A reliable map application like Google Maps is crucial for navigation, especially if you plan to explore independently. A translation app can be helpful for communicating with locals if needed. Tugawe sits on a remote location overlooking parts of Caramoan. The resort is on a lush hill, peaceful, and soo green all around. Caramoan itself is amazing. Tugawe, while it might be a little outdated and has the limits of a resort in a remote location (finicky hot water, weak toilet, etc) makes up for its service. The staff are super nice, very accommodating, and helpful. Food was delicious even if a little limited in options. Again, given its quite remote location, the resort does its very best to accommodate and answer all your possible vacation needs. I do hope it gets more developed as it has the potential to be a premier vacation spot for those looking for an alternative for the more famous PI vacay spots.

We stayed @ Tugawe for 2 long nights. It was very disappointing. There was a frequent long brown out so that means no AC. In our 2 nights stay, there were I think 6 brown outs.Water supply was cut off for 6 hrs. Food was TERRIBLE. I mean, the food price vs the food quality really sucks. I feel sorry for our butlers. They tried to give a good service, but didn’t have enough resources to provide it. Like the brown outs. Management should provide 2 back up generators. Their place is big & we are paying customers. So, if you guys want a relaxing vacation, this place is definitely not for you.

Stayed here with friends. There were 3 of us but we weren't told the extra charge for one person until a day before of our trip. The invoice only showed the total balance. I would suggest that the reservation officer is clear about extra charges in the beginning. The port coordinator is extremely disorganized. We were picked up from Naga airport and the trip was smooth but when we arrived at Guijalo port we were just asked to disembark and wait at the shed. The port coordinator never told us how long we will wait there and what is happening next. Our departure was also the same. He just let people board the vans going back without organizing each group on who will board first and where is the van going. Moreso he was evasive when being asked. He should be fired. The porters are more knowledgeable about the schedule than him. At the resort we were assigned a butler named Patrick who is just working there for a summer job. A bit soft-spoken but he was nice. I'm just glad I speak the dialect as my companions can hardly understand him speak as he is quite an introvert for an assistant. Overall he was courteous and he assisted us well although he can be unsure of his answers at times I totally understand as he is just a temp staff. The boats are exclusive and new and we ordered our lunch beforehand so we can eat it during our island hopping. The cabana at the hill we stayed already showed signs of wear and tear but the beds are comfy and it was close to the restaurant.

It's a destination for nature lovers and those seeking R&R as its on the tip end of Caramoan Peninsula and access is by boat only though there's a helipad. The staffs are very friendly and accommodating. If you're fit and love walking, the hillside rooms and lakeside cabanas are the best as it provide water views from your rooms and easy access to the beach though a hike to the restaurant and front desk i.e., 197 steps from the front desk to the beach. The rooms/chalets are scattered around the property between the beach and front desk which ensure privacy.

Un lugar de ensueño. Quizás falten actividades ofertadas, y la única pega es el lago natural entre la playa y la colina, que desmerece a mi juicio
