Lovely , from beginning to the end
Beautiful restaurant , pool and hotel itself , as it were on pictures, nice and delusions cuisine and wonderful home made cheese . Minuses - thin bed cover, and as it's impossible to sleep without ac, you might get very cold during the night . But comparing all pluses it's nothing Thank you !!

Not as advertized ... Sparse!
Paid for but did not receive daily room service. Meager included breakfast leads to pay out for more expensive options. Poor wifi and aircon with many brown outs. Lighting was very dim. Off and on hot water. Felt everything was gouging ... certainly not a solid three star for these experienced travellers. Nice enough facilities with diligent apologizing staff. Not too far from the main beach 100peso trike ride Good tasty meal the first night.

A Truly Fantastic Experience
We arrive in Panglao after a full day trip from Siargao. To wait for us we find the Owner of the resort, Mr. Alessandro who welcome us with an amazing refreshing drink. Alessandro, Italian nationality, its what i can define a perfect host who know exactly how make you comfortable and how create an experience around each guest. we had two rooms in the first floor with a small balcony which face the garden and the nice pool. The rooms are large and clean and, with my surprise, the rooms have fresh water in the shower and new Air-Condition system. The restaurant below offer a nice range of traditional Italian dishes and some very good philippine delicatessen. I was impress when i came to know that the owner its also the only producer in the entire Philippines of Buffalo Mozzarella, Burrata and some others dairy products which are typically Italian. Talking to Alessandro, he explain his passion about the dairy production and how he find the way to use the local products to create his product. For this i should congratulate him for create Sustainability in the island by using only local products and thus local producer. Thank you also to chef Daniele, we had a chance to try one of the best Italian food i ever tried out of Italy such margarita pizza with authentic buffalo mozzarella, fresh spaghetti with one made bottarga and Burrata with truffle. So in the end, congratulation to all the Vanilla Sky team which have contribute to make my vacations memorable. Good luck with the new opening restaurant which for sure will be a great contribution to the guest experience. Thanks you so much for all what you have done. I m sure we will meet soon again. Best regards Valerio

Nice place
We spent 13 nights here, location wise it is a ten minute walk to the beach via the track and 10 to 15 walk into the bright lights of Alona Beach, if like me you have checked on google maps it appears along way off, dont worry it isnt. We were greeted at reception with a lovely refreshing drink made of the little green (Lemons) they have. then shown to our room. The room was number 7 on the 1st floor. All rooms have a pool view. The room was of good size with plenty of storage (huge drawer under our double bed) good tv and a very good fridge that kept stuff really cold! Also a safe and excellent air con all included in room price unlike other places where these are an additional expense. The bathroom was a bit tired and could do with being updated but all in all served a purpose and was clean. Beds are made up each day and fresh towels every couple of days. The rooms could benefit from lined curtains perhaps as they currently let in a lot of light. The Pool aspect was quite pretty with the shrubs and flowers everywhere. They are in the throws of building a new purpose built restaurant and kitchen area which will only enhance the place as right now the pool is too close to the current sitting area. The breakfasts were fine though i really think they should make more of an effort with choice here. They have a breakfast menu for outside diners but the same choice isnt available to guests. Also it would be nice to be served a fruit juice as well as tea or coffee. Also the portions are not great. We europeans dont have rice as standard at breakfast so be sure to ask for an extra egg! which isnt a problem. It fills a hole. We also ate at the restaurant on several occasions, which is the same place as the breaksfasting area. Again though this will be much better when they open the new part. The staff were lovely, attending to any query or questions we had even arranging laundry for a couple of pounds a time, meaning we had hardly any dirty stuff to take home! What could be bettered is giving out infomation on the surrounding areas in terms of other bars or restaurants that are maybe nearer to the hotel than Alona beach. Which we later learned from another source that there are. So ask them. The owner Alessandro is very pleasant as his his able assistant Daniella (excuse me if i have mispelled that), they do tend to leave you to your own devices so please just ask them if you want to know anything. I had asked them prior to our arrival about Gluten free pasta as my wife has an intolerance and they had gone out of their way to purchase some for her, which is a really great touch so thank you very much for that. You can catch a tricyle at the top of the road but dont pay anymore than 50 pesos per ride to get anywhere in the Alona beach area, the track to the beach is a definite no no at night! jsut as it is pitch black and some very uneven surfaces. The Wi Fi was good and free! So in summary we enjoyed our stay at the Vanilla sky and would recommend it to anyone but maybe two weeks is a bit on the long side we found personally but that goes for Alona beach also. Thank you Alessandro and all the best of luck going forward with your new restaurant and kitchen.
