Good Place
This is a good place to stay, however, this is quite far from the malls and the city center. Check-in here when we had our project at Gensan. Clean rooms yet a little smaller compared to usual rooms. Friendly staff and good food. They have bar also

Zanrock Microhotel
Staff very friendly and helpful. Got an upgrade to a larger room when they saw us visiting with our little 1 year old grandson to have place to play with him. Centrally situated close to malls with a quick ride on a tricycle. Room neat and tidy and staff but had to be asked to service the room daily (room wasn't serviced daily unless requested) The tariff very reasonable for accommodation but found drinks a little pricy compared to other pubs/ restaurants around town.

Great place, but needs better wifi
Check was quick and smooth. Things were explained, such as connecting to wifi, restaurant hours, etc. For a small hotel, I was impressed with the level of cleanliness and the size of the bathroom. I was delighted to find a bath tub, which is normally only found in the chain or upscale hotels. The bed was firm, but comfortable, including the padded headboard. While there wasn't a wardrobe closet, the room was spacious for two people with luggage. Breakfast was complimentary, and offered a choice of Filipino entrees, such as tocino or longanisa, western entrees like sausage or bacon. Other menu items included chicken wings, burgers and spaghetti, along with favorites like pork sisig (chopped marinated pork) and lechon kawali (fried pork belly). The staff were young professionals; from the desk personnel at check-in, to the bar staff, and even security. Helpful and friendly are how I describe them. The only downside to staying at this location was the lack of consistent wifi in the room. While the connection in the café’ was fast most of the time, wifi in the rooms was spotty at best. Located about half a block from a main street, transportation is easily accessible to malls and shops. Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

New, but quite far from the center
Room was very small, definitely not for claustrophobic people. However, it has many amenities (e.g. small ref, bar, flat TV), and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Bathroom was big relative to the room and tidy. Overall service was good. Rates come with free breakfast. If you just came here to sleep, it's good value for the money. Otherwise, not very accessible and not a lot of public vehicles passing by.

Choose your room wisely
Mix bag of feelings here at ZanRock. It was just 5 months old while checking in. There are plenty of new hotels going up here in Gen San and prices are becoming more competitive. My opinion, the rooms were over priced here and they are much too small for what else is out there. The standard( 2 ppl) delux is on promo for 1200, and will go to an over priced 1500 regular rate at some point. No way that will fly in the future. The family "delux" (3 person) is promo at 1600 and will get to 2000 at regular rate. Just to point out the positives, the staff are all generally quite friendly. New Hotel, as of end of 2014. Strong Wifi in lobby. Not too many people staying here thus far making it more quiet than other places, regarding the 'people noise'. As for the negatives.. Very noisy in terms of the air conditioners, and each hotel door has an aggressively set spring hinge to close the doors. As usual, absent minded clients, allow the doors to slam. Often it became a door slamming festival through out the day and nite. There is a kareoke set up in the resto area, so things can get loud (BASS) for the patrons in the rooms at times. At my time of stay, the wifi was completely non functional is any of the rooms, although the lobby had decent service most of the time. Many of the rooms had very little electrical outlets. Be sure to check before hand. In the situation of a 'brown out', the A/C units will turn off and will not be turned back on automatically when the generator turns on. One morning it happened while sleeping and woke up hours later VERY sweaty. The beds are not that cozy, lacking quality, and are too short in length (My feet hung over the end, as I am 6'). Most times you may need to walk to J. Cathlico (3 to 4 min walk) to catch a tricycle. ZanRock is somewhat out of the way from the city center and is located in Lagao area. Two rides (20 Peso) to the city center. The resto is average
