Casa Do Anquião

This is a difficult review. There was incredible and ugly. First off, this is a Spanish villa originally from Roman times. The place is surreal. Wish we had time to stay 2-3 days and soak it all in. From the dining hall to the chapel, ancient Roman rock carvings . The housekeeper is amazing and breakfast was hand delivered in an antique dining room . Can’t thank her enough. The bad. The Axis management. Could not be more unhelpful or disrespectful. thought we had said we would be on bike. No this is not bikeable , on the side of a mountain, and in fact is difficult to find. We arrived at 7pm figuring food would be nearby. Not an option though house keeper did try to help and got us on the phone with Axis who runs hotel and golf course adjoining. We explained that e-bikes were dead and could we order food in from restaurant. “No we don’t provide that service” meanwhile we had been riding all day. “You have to come here to the hotel golf course restaurant 2km away. “ “ our bikes don’t work!” they may as well have said “we don’t care”. Even though it would have been simple to send a golf cart over holes 3,7,8 and 9 to get us. “Okay well we will be there asap” . So we decided to walk through the course. I’m a golfer and you need to be a goat to play this course. We arrived about 30 min later. “ oh you made it!” Yes said us sweaty and hungry. “So the dining room is right through there” us: “ thanks”. Guy in restaurant “we are close. Chef went home”. Axis get it together

Built in the 17th c. this house contains an incredible collection of furniture, paintings and other memorabilia. Breakfast is a feast—beautiful swimming pool.

Beautiful property in rural setting 8 minute drive from Ponte De Lima. Lovely staff and they prepare a terrific breakfast. Great attention to detail and beautiful setting. Wonderful historic property. A memorable stay.

The property was tucked away in a magnificent location. Rolling hills and gorgeous views. Owners have no English but can communicate. WIFI wasnt working but we were on holidays so not totally necessary. Place is a step back in time. Built in 1700 hundred s and lots of artifacts and things to enjoy in the main house. Breakfast was great, over the top delicious

Schöne Umgebung.

Vi har rejst rundt i Portugal og boet forskellige steder. Stedet her er det bedste sted på hele turen. Der var så smukt, både bygningerne og naturen. Der var fred og ro. Morgenmaden hjemmelavet, der var et stort udvalg med frisk frugt fra haven. Der bliver lavet røræg og pandekager efter ønske. Da vi kom, blev vi budt velkommen af den sødeste værtinde, som viste os den smukke hovedbygning. Det var som at træde ind i en gammel film, med alle de smukke antikke og rustikke møbler. Poolen var i en dejlig have. Vi er sikre på at vi kommer tilbage til stedet engang.

Hotel très sympa . Piscine agréable. Super petit déjeuner dans une jolie salle a manger . Petit inconvénient : pas de wifi dans la chambre , cela permet de passer a la lecture .

personnel agreable toujours disponible étant souvant au Portugal je connait bien le systeme du travail,qui n'est pas considérés( je passe les details) pour le reste rien a dire

We arrived at night to the hotel. the GPS brought us to a dark forest. certainly not what we expected there were insects in the first room and finally we chosen another room inside the house that had a strong smell of resin (from the wooden stairs (. nevertheless, we slept well and in the morning after a really nice breakfast we found that the place could be very nice for few days stay in the village. we still think that it is not an hotel and should not be presented as such in the site .
