Hotel Dom Luis

It was right off the main entrance to the town across from the aqueduct-no need to drive up the narrow fortress roads into Elvas city center! Room was sufficient to my needs and lots of tv channels in several languages available. Breakfast buffet was pleasant and included hot scrambled eggs and bacon along with selections of pastries, drink, cereals, and fruit. If I should return to Elvas, I would stay there again-

The Dom Luís Hotel is in a convenient location, but overall the stay was disappointing. The room was small and could use some updates. The bedding needs improvement, and the pillows were very uncomfortable. There were no bathroom amenities provided, and the automatic light in the bathroom was frustrating as it would turn off too quickly. There was also no fridge in the room or ice machine available, which made it inconvenient. The common areas could really use new carpeting, as there was a lingering old cigarette smell throughout. On a positive note, the breakfast was decent, especially considering it was included, and the staff were very nice and accommodating. The hotel definitely needs some sprucing up and a few thoughtful touches to make the stay more comfortable.

Centrally located, free parking opposite hotel, very clean throughout, good size rooms, excellent breakfast.

Lovely hotel but 25 i s to get warm water for the shower

Bad experience, found a live roach in the room, the A/C wouldn’t work (in spite of front desk programming it, it went off shortly after), the lights wouldn’t work until front attendant came to turn on breaker. No bar soap to wash hands. Base boards and floor in room looked filthy. Booked two rooms and both had similar problems. Bed was comfortable and breakfast was reasonable. Selected hotel based on good rating and positive reviews on hotels.com; however, these were obviously misleading.

False advertise they Advertise With car Park on-site. Which they did not have insthey told me to park the car across the street from the hotel. In a public Which I pacifically search with car park on Site, and when I mention they were very rude. Bathroom in the room had Mould. And breakfast, I advertise buffet breakfast Which they had cereal and 3 juijesus. I do not recommend this hotel to nobody. Yes

No meal or bar vacilities in the evening. But were shown where to go to get a snack nearby.

It is easy to find in the town, on a main road that is near a gas station, and it is in walking distance with the hilltop fort that is the historical attraction for that area. Nice place and very friendly people, a few restaurants close by in walking range. In summer, they will have a pool open in the back and that will be nice. Good breakfast too. Good value.

Upside, location and condition. Downside, no restraunt and onsite parking although there is free parking within sight.

Location was great. Unfortunately I was a ground room right next to the gas station, which made it a bit noisy. Not the best for sound proofing from outside noise, or within the halls. Overall fine for one night passing through

We booked the hotel as a base halfway to Castelo de Branco. The hotel was on a main road, but still quiet as the whole area is a quietist part of Portugal. This was our first visit to mid Portugal and a lovely surprise. The hotel is a perfect base for exploring mid Portugal and the local area. The staff were polite and friendly. The room and hotel were spotlessly clean and the pool and surrounding area cleaned thoroughly every morning. The breakfast was fairly basic, including scrambled eggs, sausages, cheese, ham, fruit, yoghurt, cake, one cereal and rolls. Unfortunately for a non egg eating vegetarian the choice was limited. Perhaps some salad, olives, beans and mushrooms would give a wider choice for all customers. The pool was very small, and always busy, with only about 10 sun beds so little chance of sitting by the pool. The bar always appeared to be closed, but looked lovely. All in all the hotel was good value for money.

The hotel was just lovely. Just needed tea and coffeee making facilities in the room.

+ Hotel is nicely renewed, rooms are nice and comfortable, + good location, + we liked the breakfast as well. - Cleaning - we had a lot of black mold in the shower - The hotel has pegion problem - The pool area is littered with pegion poo and since there is no 'anti bird spikes' on the roof and window shelfs you can be waken up by a pegion siting on your window, if you have it open. - soundproofing is inadequate
