WARNING: Luggage stolen — hotel accepted responsibility but refuses civil compensation I stayed at Hotel Otakar in July 2025. During my stay, my luggage was stolen from the hotel’s locked luggage room. The hotel has accepted responsibility in writing for this loss, confirming that the theft occurred while my belongings were under their care. However, they are now refusing to provide civil compensation, wrongly insisting that only the police can deal with it. This is incorrect. Civil and criminal matters are legally separate. The police investigate the crime — but the hotel still has a legal duty under civil law to compensate me for all property lost due to their admitted negligence. I submitted a reasonable, itemised claim based on current replacement value. Instead of resolving the matter professionally, I received dismissive replies accusing me unfairly and rejecting my civil compensation claim outright when I’m the victim in a situation resulting from negligence. Staff repeatedly failed to engage with the issue properly or provide any meaningful path to resolution — compounding the distress and damage caused. This incident caused serious disruption, financial loss, and completely ruined my trip. I am pursuing this through all formal consumer protection channels in the Czech Republic, and will continue to do so until the matter is resolved fairly and in full. If you value your property, your peace of mind, and basic accountability, avoid Hotel Otakar at all costs.

Great place to stay.not to far from center.tram stop outside hotel to take you to the center.receptionist great very helpful.mcdonalds across the road.few bars around the area.very cheap area for food and drink.

Good property but breakfast was pathetic

We were surprised that entrance to the breakfast room was not barrier free therefore difficult to reach for slightly handicapped. I am not sure if this information is in the premises description. There was a kettle with two cups in the room, however, that was all - no tea/coffee bags. Anyway, we liked our stay as the staff are nice and friendly.

Its location is good, but bit of noisy( traffic noise outside). Room is clean, but its facilities are outdated and not in very good condition. Buffet breakfast is great.

Average hotel with no air conditioning. I do not recommend it in the summer. It is hot and you can suffocate. A nightmare. Breakfast is nothing special and the location is terrible.

The hotel was nothing like its photos. None of the rooms looked like what was shown and there was no kettle and cups. The floor looked dirty and I was bitten whilst I was sleeping. The toilet seat was broken and the shower temperature was very uncomfortable and unstable. The shower was also clogged, and the water from the drain soaked up to my feet. The bed sheets were clean, but there was no ventilation and it was often very humid and hot, which caused me to itch. The breakfast was just ok and it was very uncomfortable to move around as the seats and tables were very crowded. I won't book this hotel anymore. It is not recommended for young children and is not value for money. The name of the hotel at the entrance was also dirty with cobweb on the top and nothing like the photos.

Friendly staff and great location. However, the bed was not comfortable due to the bad spring under it, I booked a double bed but they were 2 single beds in put next to each other with an unsafe gap in between. Hotel stated free parking but when I arrived I had to pay for parking. The lift does not reach to the 5th floor. The 5th floor was horrible at night as it gets very hot up there without air-conditioning meaning that we have to leave the window open and this brings all the bugs and flys. No fridge in room.

I was expecting a hotel with a spa. The hotel had one jacuzzi and a massage room. There's no bar to speak of, you can order a basic drink in the reception only. The breakfast choices are limited but palatable. Having said that, all the staff were very welcoming, the hotel is clean and comfortable and ideally located for a short stay.

The hotel was lovely. Everything was clean and the receptionists were so helpful. The receptionists themselves would make me stay here again just from how friendly and welcoming they were. The property itself was in great condition, but the area around the property wasn't ideal. There was a lot of construction around the hotel and they had a balcony that seemed like it was going through some type of renovations. Regardless, the stay was great and had a good price. I would definitely stay again.

Sauna/wheel pool is expensive to rent. they are separate price too
