The ladies who served breakfast were absolutely fantastic, super friendly and efficient. Unfortunately we were horrified by the appalling service on arrival, after an extremely long drive we were met by a grumpy member of staff who closed the bar 45 minutes earlier than advertised . This was a a trip we were most looking forward to, after visiting several times before, we found the hotel run down, poorly maintained and lacking in cleanliness in several areas.

The location was absolutely beautiful and we loved the hiking trails around the property. Unfortunately, the food was not good and there were very little options for a vegetarian. The sautéed mushrooms were limp and greasy. The carpets in the main house were dirty and had holes in them. The floor in the granary cottage made your feet dirty after a shower and we found a snack wrapper from a previous guest under the coffee table in the living room area of our cottage leading us to question the housekeeping standards. We had to kill thirteen spiders when we arrived and seven the next day. I k ow it’s the country, but proper dusting and some mint oil would go a long way in terms of pest abatement and management.

Loved the mill house we stayed in. The main house is a beautiful old place. The service was lacking waited at the bar for a half hour before someone arrived, his bartending skills and personality needs some improvement.

This is my forth time here and as always it was outstanding. The room service and food all excellent, coupled with the surrounding just make this the perfect Scottish experience. Staff are lovely and very helpful, the food is of a Michelin standard and worth every pound.

Nearest thing to staying in a castle for us! Delightful evening with dinner and lovely conversation with other guests. Extensive whiskey list & wines to match a 3 course meal. Stayed in the fishing lodge as there are rooms in the house as well as detached lodges. Very comfortable and charming.

This could be a nice property but the grounds are extremely run down. Don’t take a room in a cottage if you have mold sensitivity. The staff is friendly so there is that. Would not choose this spot again. Floors creaky above our room was awful.

Good location and couldnt fault the cleanliness, Didn't venture into the bar or the restaurant as we arrived later in the evening. But upon looking at the menu in room it looks like a 3 course meal was costing £70pp regardless, and a taster menu was £95pp. Wouldn't class it a high standard room with the in room offerings if thats what you're looking for ! But perfectly fine for us. Bathroom was shiney spotless.

Friendly staff and were upgraded to room in the Hotel, rather than the cottages. Room was lovely and bathroom luxurious. Dinner and breakfast were served in the conservatory which had a lovely outlook of the gardens and a bird feeder which attracted a lot of birds. Dinner was excellent, Michelin Star material. We walked in gardens which were picturesque with Waterfall and WaterMill only about 50 yards from the Hotel. Check out the record Salmon in the Bar.
