What Guests Say About Their Stay

Excellent location overlooking Sound of Barra and Atlantic Ocean, with views of Eriskay and Barra. The staff were very helpful and the food was very good. Room and bed comfortable and a nicely fitted out bathroom. Shower with hot water from a water tank which has not been the norm on our trip through the Highlands and Islands. Only a short journey from Eriskay so Whisky Galore aficionados can probably have wee dram at the Politician pub beforehand. But be cautious about Scottish drink driving limits.. (I didn't drink whisky btw..) We'd definitely stay again..

Really pleasant 3 night stay as part of a longer visit to the Uists. Single room with a view over the sea, albeit over the porch so also with a roof view! Breakfast was excellent and evening meals also - one of the best steaks I have ever had. Elaine was the perfect host throughout, happy to chat and provide recommendations for activities etc.

Incredibly beautiful location, and a good place to explore Eriskay a s South Uist from. Amazing sunset view from outside seating. A great place for a drink after a day of exploring. And an indoor bar with a view if the weather isn't cooperating. Room was fine, clean and comfortable. Food was okay. Most staff were very friendly. Would stay again.

What a beautiful place! We absolutely loved our time here! The place is dated. That’s for sure! But it didn’t detract from the charm and utter beauty of its setting. The restaurant food was excellent, staff lovely and friendly and breakfast was delicious. If you are in this region I’d get there. The beaches, the closeness to Eriskay, the utter charm of the place as well as their selection of gins!

On our recent stay at the Polochar Inn we were very disappointed, The room had not been cleaned for a long time considering the thickness of dust, as you can see from these photographs. We were leaving early the next morning at 6.00am and had been promised by The Polochar Management that take away breakfasts would be left out for us, nothing was there. We followed up with an email noting our disappointment but received no reply.

The accommodation was fine. Perfectly adequate. What was annoying is that my debit card was charged an additional amount, above the Expedia price, on the day I arrived. I pointed this out and as told it was a mistake and it would be refunded. It still hasn't been, 6 weeks later, and my emails/telephone calls go unanswered. Not good, Polochar Inn. Not good.

Fantastic location right by the sea. Spacious bar, restaurant, lounge and breakfast rooms. Small comfy room with a fab sea view. Shower room was compact, unfortunately one of the tiles on the floor was badly cracked and the shower door hadn’t been cleaned of soap splashes. Staff were friendly and helpful, although I wasn’t told I needed to pay for my restaurant meal on the night rather than at checkout which was a bit embarrassing. Hotel manager (Georgia) very kindly located some property I accidentally left behind and is sending it on to me for which I am enormously grateful.
