Carls Unique Inn

I had a flight cancellation and was grateful to find this very reasonably priced room in Sint Maarten. Since I arrived early, I was allowed to sit in the courtyard until my room was ready, which I really appreciated.The room fixtures and furnishings were a bit old, but very clean. I had problems with the tv and fell coming up the stairs to the upper courtyard. There is a sign warning people to use the handrail, which admittedly I was not doing as I was carrying the free breakfast (very good, btw). This is not a place to come if you have mobility issues as all rooms are on the upper floor and only accessible by stairs. Also the area, though safe, is kind of on the outskirts and walking is difficult due to a lack of sidewalks in some parts. I was able to walk to a restaurant in less than 10 minutes, which was very convenient. Overall, I would recommend the place if you need an inexpensive, safe and clean place to stay.

Need to have staff on site earlier than 8am as some people check out early and no one is there. Needs elevator to help disabled persons. Steps are very steep and there are too many to climb.

The staff was very friendly and helpful during my stay. The room however had bugs all over, it was extremely unpleasant… i wanted to change rooms but it was already night. The shampoo bottles were used, and there was only one sheet in the bed so I had to put up the temperature in order not to get sick.

The room was good. However, there were pigeons living on the outside of the window ledge, so the sound they make was very loud and irritating. The wifi literally kept cutting out every few minutes sometimes seconds. We got complimentary breakfast which was also good, although I don't feel the choice of bread we get should be different to the choice of bread a paying customer gets because after all we are not begging it was inclusive in hotel booking. With better internet services I would stay there again.

The staff is always wonderful and accommodating. Excellent breakfast. Convenient location. Very clean and spacious rooms.
