We stayed at Casa Lirio for 9 nights as a family of three (including our 2-year-old), and overall had a fantastic experience. What we loved: - Location: The hotel is in the Gothic Quarter, with excellent access to transit and major sights. That said, if you’re not familiar with historic European city centers, the narrow streets may initially feel like “alleyways”—but this is part of the charm and character of the area. - Service: Raul and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful, which made a big difference over a longer stay. - Cleanliness & comfort: Daily housekeeping was thorough and very much appreciated. - Shared spaces: We made great use of the kitchen/coffee bar and especially the large, sunny terrace, perfect for relaxed mornings with a kid who has a lot of energy to burn off. - Family-friendly touches: Our toddler loved the toys provided (kitchen set, rocking horse, ride-on motorbike). This was a thoughtful and unexpected feature. Things to be aware of: - Noise at night: There are a couple of clubs nearby on C. Sant Francesc, so you may hear people passing by late at night. Ear plugs are provided but light sleepers may want to prepare accordingly. - Amenities: The hotel provides a combined hair & body wash; would be nice if as eparate conditioner was also provided. Overall: A great option for families looking for a well-located, welcoming stay in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, with a few minor trade-offs expected of the area.

The location is excellent - right by Las Ramblas and easy to walk to restaurants, shopping and more. The directions we received for checking in worked exactly as they should, so that went smoothly. The day we checked out they let us leave our luggage there until we went to board our cruise ship, so we were able to spend more time discovering Barcelona. If we were to return to Barcelona, we would stay there again.

The entrance is down a dark alley in the Gothic quarter. The room we had is nothing like the picture promoting the hotel. It was modern but dark. The windows were frosted and when you looked out it looked into the inside of the building. No view whatsoever. It also seemed there was a family living here with lots of childrens toys piled up and the apartments above when we got back at night one of them were throwing a party. The entrance is like a basement and then up some stairs through a heavy door to a table with a computer on it. Not boutique at all. Apart from seeing someone when we arrived we didn't see anyone else again. Reception is not manned. The room was clean with the sink seperate to the bathroom.

Room - clean and had everything you need. Comfy bed, mini fridge, safe, big wardrobe, nice mirror for getting ready in. We emailed requesting an iron and it was there when we got back to the room after being out all day. Communal area - lovely little area that leads to a courtyard, it’s very quiet and the tea and coffee area is clean and respected. Location- perfect location to walk everywhere, we read reviews about it being difficult to find/location being abit ‘dodgey’ far from that, we felt very safe. Hotel- you get details sent to you via WhatsApp with the codes to let yourself in (I think the hotel forgot to send to us so I rang and they got sent within a minute, no faff) very easy instructions to follow. The hotel isn’t staffed which isn’t an issue, the desk is manned from 8am until 4pm and they ask if you need anything, towels etc (lovely team) Overall really good location hotel. Casa Batllo - 22 min walk Parc Ciutadella - 15 min walk La Rambla - 5 min walk If we are to come back we would stay at this hotel again :)

I did not love the area at night. I did not feel extremely safe walking in that alley at night. I was never able to get warm water from the shower. I ran into another guest that was staying there for 8 nights and said that he had contacted somebody about the water. They couldn’t find anybody to fix it right away. The rooms are decent size, but they don’t provide you with any blankets unless you ask for them. Unfortunately, the first night we were there, there wasn’t any staff on property. When the staff was there, they were pleasant.

There is no reception and finding and accessing the facility is stressful. One has to obtain an entry code online for two separate doors. Once in inside there were no blankets ( the explanation being that the weather is hot and there is no need for it). The night temperatures in September in Barcelona are in the low twenties so the traveller should decide the needs of blankets. The main problem is lack of hot or even warm or even lukewarm water. The feeble explanations on the phone - remember, there is no reception - sounded like mockery. Finally, we got warm water in the last two days ( out of seven) The only positive thing is the politeness and willingness to help of the cleaning personnel. In short, my recommendation is that Expedia disassociate itself from these premises

Because there is no actual desk to check in, it was a bit hard to find. Only a small sign with the hotel name on it. It is on a small side street that is a little sketchy. However, once we were inside the hotel was lovely. Rooms were clean and the courtyard outside, upstairs was awesome.

The property looks old from the outside, but it has been completely remodeled inside with modern decor and new fixtures. Big room and clean. The staff is very friendly (big thumbs up to Raul). There is a small elevator and common areas are clean and well supplied with tea, coffee and utensils. It is two blocks from Port Vell and MareMagnum Mall. Great walks and cafe’s, bars, and great restaurants. Also, three blocks to Las Ramblas. Great place to stay. My only quibble is that the hot water supply was uneven. If several guests are using it, you will get lukewarm water.

Stay away from this place and stay away from hotels.com. So I prebooked this place after we finished our cruise. I started the checking the morning of 9/7 when we arrived back because there is no front desk. It wouldn't work because it had three adults on tge reservation even though another area listed two adults and two kids, which was correct. I emailed them around 9. We went to the property at this time and waited until 10 because another part says that the front desk open at 10. There was noone there and the door was locked. I waited until 11 and watching hotel prices climb booked another hotel so i wouldnt be left out in the street with my family. I got an email after 1230 that I should have just known to come to the property at 3 and absolutely refusing a refund. Hotels.com wont help you either. So im out over 200 bucks over this.
