Very clean and tidy plave

Stayed for 2 nights. Location is very convenient with a lot of dining and shops. Really walkable. Reception at Hotel Victoria was smooth, staff were kind and friendly. The room is ok for the 2 night stay. Comfortable, however I would have wanted the bathroom to be more clean as I saw some hair on the sink and tub. Room can get noisy if you are a light sleeper since restaurants are outside, although this did not bother us. I would still stay here the next time aim back.

Clean comfortable room, excellent location in the midst of a lively street. Too was well soundproofed

We requested two twin beds and were notified well ahead of time that the hotel received that request. We notified the hotel well in advance that we would arrive late — after midnight. It turned out there was no room available with two beds. But we were told the room had a king size bed. When we got to the room, we saw that it was only a double bed. There were no cups or glasses in the room. We appreciated the air conditioning in the room. We were uncomfortable during the night for the two nights of our stay. On the second morning of our stay, the bread was stale; otherwise the breakfasts were okay.

This property was great, lovely rooms and a really central location which was perfect. The staff at Hotel Victoria 4 were lovely and really helpful.

The information we received prior to arrival was excellent but I wasn't able to check in in advance using the on-line system. The hotel was situated in a very central location, but was quiet and felt very secure. Reception was in the Hotel Victoria ( a few doors down). The staff there were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the Victoria was good and they were able to store our bags for us won the last day before we flew home. The facilities listed for the Matheu (coffee shop, bar and restaurant), were situated either in the Hotel Victoria or, in the case of the restaurant, was a public restaurant between the 2 buildings. Unfortunately, although our room was clean and the bed comfortable, it was shabby, very small, and not al all as shown in the picture. I estimated it to be 8ft square which, by the time you add a double bed, a wardrobe, 2 adults and 2 suitcases, left VERY little room for manoeuvre. To make things worse the small window in the room had a dreadful outlook which discouraged us opening it or even looking out of it. We kept the curtains closed most of the time. The room felt very claustrophobic. Other rooms we saw looked much better. Sadly not the cozy retreat we had been promised.

Very nice place to stay for the price. Clean, safe, and right in the middle of everything. That was the only down side though too as people were partying until 5am and it was not quiet. Great breakfast at the Victoria hotel nearby.

Cost effective. We are satisfied.

We did not like the room space it was so very small for four beds, also they did not say in expedia that you need to pick up the room keys in another location, they do not have front desk at this location.

Great location with provably 6-10 options for food and drink within a stone's throw and what seems like a million more in a short walk. The downside, don't expect any sleep before 3am as there are pubs right below the rooms.

Filthy. Expedia should be ashamed to list this property. I will be asking for refund!!

it was all good except there was no elevator.

Hostel Matheu is a part of a bigger hostel chain called Victoria 4. You still need to check in at that location if you want to stay at the other hostel. The staff are very friendly and know Spanish and English. The location itself is around a bunch of restaurants and shopping. It is also about a 12 minute walk to the palace. I only got to stay here for one night, but it did the trick!
