My room had a view of the courtyard garden. I had a deck complete with two chairs and a table where I could enjoy my morning coffee and do a little work. My bed was super comfortable and extra blankets were stored in the closet. A safe also located in the closet was handy to store my passport. Everything was super clean and comfortable. The 2 complementary water bottles were much appreciated. A mini bar stocked the usual items for a fee. My bathroom included a tub, which is unusual I think, for the typical European hotel. Ample towels and amenities to paper yourself supplied. Front desk staff, both the day and night shifts were super helpful, efficient and friendly. Anythng needed was immediately looked after. As a plus, they'll arrange your transportation to the airport if necessary. Housekeeping did a super job of refreshing my room as requested. Nothing better than returning to your hotel room with the bed made (tuck those corners in!) and a clean bathroom. They stepped out of the room while cleaning as I needed to remove my passport i order to maintain privacy. Exceptional and thoughtful. I will return to this hotel on my next trip to Barcelona as its location is near everything - shops, pubs and restaurants - making it really convenient yet far enough from the noise of a big city to offer quiet when you need it most. I opted out of the breakfast but I did check it out. The buffet was ample and fresh. I like to explore the local bakeries when I travel....

Rooms felt dirty and poorly maintained. The finishes did not appear old, just poorly maintained for example: there was missing grout and caulking in the bathroom, the shower doors are incorrectly installed and sized with the hinges not properly secured to the wall causing excess amount of water to leak outside of the shower area (this will cause water damage and mold over time), flooring has large gaps in between planks, a majority of the lights are not properly installed at the ceiling with several missing bulbs, wall covering bubbling and torn in many places. On the third floor, the hallway is dark due to the light sensor not working correctly which would make ladies (or anyone) feel unsafe walking the hallway at night coming into your room. This hotel does not deserve a 4 star rating as advertised and is 2 stars at best. On the positive side, the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful and the location is excellent for walking in the Gothic Area.

Room was comfortable and bed was fine to sleep in. Staff were pleasant and cleaning was of a high standard. The disappointing aspects were the breakfast not much choice in my opinion and it was noisy outside of a nighttime.

But it was incredibly noisy, both from the street and just the other people inside, probably not great for someone wishing for a quieter room - Upon checkout, someone had also tried to charge breakfast to our room (although we had gone out every day for breakfast) which the staff removed but yes.. maybe if you’re looking for a good sleep, not the best hotel
