The hotel is lovely, in a quaint, old stone home, beautiful flowers in the garden, quiet, and free on-site parking. However, the hotel suffers from mold. If you have a mold allergy, as we did, this is definitely not a place you should stay. Lots of storage space in the room, which was nice, and the beds were very comfortable. Quiet with lovely views but the location was a bit lacking as there was nowhere to walk around, and the nearest food was at least 1.5 km away or more. Service from the owners was great though be forewarned there is no elevator and no one to assist with bags. It was clearly not their fault that the WiFi was not working the first as the cables had been broken although it was a challenge for one of us in the party who had to do work and had to go steal wifi from another location. Would have been great to have been warned of this ahead of time for better planning.

The hotel was quite difficult to find not actually in a village in a country lane with other houses with drives and gates. Had to ask directions as the sat/nav finished about 1/2 mile away. Once there plenty of parking in the garden drive area. It's a beautiful property the owner was very welcoming and our room spotless and very cosy and warm. The temperature was around 0c we had already experienced torrential rain, hail stones and snow. Breakfast was excellent plenty of different choices, however dinner was slightly strange, it included a bottle of wine and water but only 1 choice of starter and main course. You had to like fish. Shellfish soup which was quite nice and then mackerel fish balls and chips and a choice of simple desserts. I've already informed the owner about my negative comments and he is going to look into it.

We felt so close to our hosts . They treated us very well and insured we got to know the area. The small neighborhood where the Posada was locales made it a very special and private place away from the big city. The family had children to take care and yet they were very accomodating and very aware of our needs. The food provided was excellent and very high quality. Presentation in the eating áreas and the rest of the hotel were spectacular. I will go back there in a heartbeat. Perfect for a romantic honeymoon!!

This was a one night stopover before sailing on the ferry from Santander. La Cotía is nothing short of superb, the best place I have stayed in and I have travelled a lot. This country house has been beautifully done, preserving the character. Absolutely gorgeous. It is comfortable, spacious, full of character and the service was excellent. I had an evening meal and the food was very good at a very reasonable price. The continental breakfast was good too. The surrounding area is beautiful, lovely scenery and although the weather was a bit rainy, it did not harm the scenery. I shall stay here again when next in the area and we shall return to the area specifically spend some time in the area and to stay at Posada de La Cotía.

My wife and I spent four nights the Posada La Cotia. Our hosts couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. La Cotia is a beautifully furnished and comfortable place to stay. Our bedroom was a decent size with a small balcony and like everywhere else in the house very clean. The breakfasts were very very good. An evening meal was available- the menu was very simple and what was available on any evening was announced by around 11am on the morning - it was an extremely reasonable price; worth noting that this meal was served at 9pm. Because it is in the countryside, about 20 miles from Santander, you need to have your own transport. Plenty of interesting places within easy reach. An extremely good value hotel/ bed n'breakfast which we would recommend without hesitation.

Everything about Posada La Cotía was wonderful. Our room was lovely and immaculate with gorgeous decor and inspiring views of the Cantabrian countryside; the building and grounds are enchanting & well maintained; the food at breakfast & especially dinner was so delicious as to make us want to lick our plates; the location was centrally located to the sites we wanted to visit; and Sofía and José were warm, welcoming, and considerate of our interests and needs at every turn. Our only complaint is that we didn't stay longer. What a delight!

Hotel is a B&B style hotel in scienic locations and it is designer-decorated in an old world charm fashion. Overall a 5 rating. The owner does not speak English, so the hotel is far best for Spanish speaking couples. Breakfast hours are too late, 9-10 AM, so time flies at this place. Very nice bathrooms and guest rooms with view. Tiny flat screen TV. Excellent bed and pillows.
