We really enjoyed our time at this villa near Lion Rock. It is a ten minute walk to the rock and we were very happy with the cooking class we took with the owner. I highly recommend booking here - it was a much more personal experience as opposed to a big resort.

This was one of the most friendly hotels that we have stayed in for a long time. All of the staff seem to have a genuine interest in making sure that we had a good time and made the most of our stay in Sigiriya. They also organised a couple of trips for us - to Polonnarua and an elephant safari. The first of these was a fascinating day visiting a former capital of Sri Lanka and the second was an afternoon seeing more than a dozen different herds of elephants, some of them just a few metres away from us. Both of these trips were excellent value. However, what makes this place Extra Special is certainly the friendliess of the staff. And the home-cooked food is also of excellent quality. For such a warm welcome this place is very good value and highly recommend recommended

I probably would have stayed elsewhere had I done more research. Room had the bare minimum: 1 towel, 1 very small bar of soap. Neither bed had a comforter and only 1 very thin sheet; I had to sleep with a sweatshirt on because there is no way to adjust the air conditioning. When I first flushed the toilet there was a very large cockroach (or beetle). There was an uncomfortable amount of flies when trying to dine in the kitchen/restaurant area, which made lunch unpleasant. I understand where we are in location flies are a given, however this was above average. All in all, I wouldn’t stay here again and would rather pay more to stay elsewhere.

Please, all foreign tourist stay away from this hotel. We have had a racist encounter with the hotel manager The hotel does not have hot running water and the air-conditioning does not work The hotel falsely advertises on all platforms that the rooms are clean hot water is provided and air-conditioning is working. This is not true. Please can you avoid this hotel. Please do not make the mistake of giving them a Benefit of doubt. You can visit this property at any time to inspect it to see it malfunction

We loved our stay at Sinhagiri villa. The family that runs it are lovely and very friendly. We really recommend the cooking class, that was such an amazing experience. The food in general is super flavourful. The homestay is close to Sigiriya Rock and Pidurangala and the hosts can help arrange a lot of different activities. Higly recommend!

A lovely homestay just outside the main strip of Sigiriya. The most welcoming and friendly hosts. The rooms are what you would expect for the price. Nice and clean, air-conditioning. It is in beautiful nature so expect animal noises (peacocks, dogs, birds). We ate both breakfast and dinner at their restaurant Green Hut Restaurant which is next door. The food was delicious and made with organic produce from their garden.

Had a great stay. The hosts were amazing and very hospitable, providing juice on arrival and breakfast in the morning. Would definitely commend! Very small issue; could use some more plugs in the room to charge devices, but not major issue at all.

We stopped here on an overnight stop off to climb Pidurangala Rock. We checking nice a quick and were shown to our room. Nice and close to both rocks, even when my partner fell and hurt her ankle the lady who worked there tended to it for her which was lovely!! Thank you!!

Die herzlichen Gastgeber machen diese Unterkunft unvergesslich. Das Essen ist aussergewöhnlich lecker und die Lage des Hotels ist ideal. Der Lionsrock ist nur wenige Minuten vom Hotel entfernt. Die Gastgeber helfen gerne beim Organisieren von Ausflügen und passen sich individuell den Gästen an. Die Safari in den Kaudulla Nationalpark war ein Ratschlag des Gastgebers und im Nachhinein eines der Highlights auf unserer Reise in Sri Lanka.

The location is great to the two rocks and the roof top is nice too looking towards Sigiriya. The breakfasts and dinners were delicious. The family/staff are always around to help out as required and they are easy going and friendly. We visited the rock, ancient cities and Dambulla from this great base. The room was great value, we enjoyed our stay! Definately recommend a stay here.

Fantastic hotel within short walking distance of Lions Rock. Room was attractive, clean, and comfortable. Staff was attentive and kind. The food was amazing and affordable. If you stay here, it would not make sense to eat elsewhere. Overall, it was a great stay. I used this hotel as a base to see sites in sigiriya, dambulla, and polonnaruwa. It worked out really well to be close to everything but to have a nice peaceful place to come back to.
