The Villa Hotel

We stayed for 3 nights in a top floor room. The hotel is right on the beach and we had a sweeping view of the beach from our balcony. The room was clean and the bathroom modern. As others have said, the TV is at the head of the bed so we did as they did and reversed our bedding. Management were friendly and helpful and the restaurant staff were friendly if not efficient but hey, welcome to Sri Lanka!

I booked four nights at this hotel and every day I experienced a different problem with the property. Management didn't prioritize taking care of the guests even though this property has just six rooms. I booked a room with balcony (sea view) only to arrive at this property and realize they falsely advertise balconies when there are none. I did pay a higher price for an ocean view and because I was traveling solo, the management tried to force me to take a room at the ground level with a garden view. Totally unacceptable. The second day, after I came back tired and ready for a shower, they had forgotten to clean my room, again, this property has six (6) rooms! how is this possible? the third day, I came back again exhausted after a long and beautiful walk to find cable workers where still "working" on the TV cable connectivity, when they had arrived at 10:00AM that day. I would recommend to others to look at other properties. While this place is on the beach, the views are not good and the service is lacking at all levels. I was both disappointed and shocked at the lack of professionalism and care for the guests and not once I received an apology for any of the issues I encountered. Unawatuna is a paradise and there are plenty of other options, especially those across from the beach, with better views, amenities & prices. By the way, WIFI in the room is not operational, management informed it only works if you leave your door and window open, which means: the heat and noise.

It was so so. Not one of the cheapest places in Unawutuna. Room was nice and spacious. The AC made a horrid noise and kept us up for 2 nights and the power shorted a few times. The Wifi doesn't work at all or if it does, works for 4 min max. The restaurant for hotel is one of the worst on the beach. Having said that, its pretty chilled and the folks are nice and accommodating.

Expedia quoted 5 night stay which seemed very reasonable however when you read the small print on your bill the price is in Indian ruppes not Sri Lankan!!!!! (This more than doubles the price as Sri Lankan rupee is worth less than half of the Indian) Stayed 5 nights had 20+ power cuts every day even though the hotel next door had none Air con broke, fridge broke and was replaced with a fridge that didn't close properly it's all a bit fawlty towers They have about 4 sun loungers but no parasols to protect you from the red hot sun, fortunately the hotel next door lets you use theirs so long as you buy drinks from there

Wi-fi was non-existing. Staff really weird - no service and in general really strange. Not very clean either and breakfast poor. You can definitivelly find cheaper and better in the area - with staff that makes you feel comfortable and not un-cumfortable.

Kleinschalig en goede en prettige locatie. Helaas geen zwembad.

När vi anlände till hotellet klockan 17 på eftermiddagen så var det fortfarande kvar gäster i vårt rum vi hade bokat. Vi fick därför vänta till klockan 8 på kvällen innan vi fick vårt rum! Vi ville trots detta boka en extra natt och fick det godkänd av mannen i receptionen. Men nästa dag så kom de och meddelade att de inte gick, vilket gav falska förhoppningar. De anklagade oss även vid utcheckningen för att ha tagit dricka i minibaren när vi inte ens öppnat kylskåpet.

The hotel was located only a few steps from the beach. Great location. The staff were nice and helpful. Very nice place to have a dinner at the beach. We stayed in a room located in the first floor. The room smelled mold and it was not worth the price. Far too expensive!

Jättefint ställe men tyvärr väldigt få solstolar som här till hotellet och inga parasoller. Varmt vatten i duschen, gratis vatten o liten tvål
