Hotell Gästis

Hotell Gastis was so quirky with so many books and artefacts. Our room was very small but perfectly adequate. We hired bikes and visited a small nature reserve. We also went in the Leninbadet which was an amazing experience, even with the steam room not working. It was like going back in time and we loved it. There were major building works going on outside the hotel but we couldn’t hear anything even though our room overlooked them. The roof terrace was lovely and we sat there with a post dinner drink! Drinks were expensive and we didn’t eat there in the evening, but the breakfast was really good and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

We loved the coziness, the decor, all of the books, and the friendly, accommodating staff. Breakfast was good, too.

An unexpected highlight on our trip. This hotel was an unexpected joy with a rather strange, but visually abundant amount of material to see on every wall. The staff, while young, were all friendly and helpful. The restaurant, located across the street in a separate building was very good. Rooms were well sized and comfortable. I recommend spending some time in the lobby with a beverage and digging into the decor. Breakfast was also very good.

Location convenient

An enjoyable stay inside a "step back in time" hotel, dressed up from a time long gone. Great staff, nice breakfast, in a very cosy environment, though I'd have preferred slight softer pillows.

Very interesting hotel. I loved the way they foster reading by offering books to customers. I got my book home and looking forward to read it. Breakfast and dinner at the hotel are amazing. Staff is very helpfull. Looking forward to use the spa next time. Unfortunately I did not had enough time due to the short stay.

This hotel is large enough to have most amenities and small enough to be homey and quaint. Absolutely loved the parlor and library feel in the main building. Be aware, though, that many of the rooms are in buildings across the street and accessible only by stairs.

Detta är ett ”good-enough hotell” med toppenläge mitt i centrum. Vi har bott här tre gånger och kommer säkert bo här fler gånger. Varje gång blir jag tyvärr lika arg på mig själv när jag glömt mitt eget schampo och balsam hemma, eftersom hotellets gratisgrejor känns som att tvätta håret med diskmedel (tvål och schampo i ett). De borde väl ändå kunna köpa in lite balsam för det priset man betalar tycker jag - och då brukar detta vara ett av de mer ”prisvärda” alternativen i Varberg och särskilt om man jämför med storasyster hotell Havanna som ändå mest har fullbokat. Vi brukar annars trivas bra på hotellet Fregatten (tips!), men de har tyvärr sämre frukost. Frukosten på Gästis är nämligen helt okej, men långt från outstanding - fast de får extra plus för den goda omeletten. Alla hotellets små olika inredningsdetaljer, i både rum och allmänna utrymmen, är kul att titta på men bidrar med en gammal doft överallt. Det känns lite som att man bor i en secondhand-butik. Hotellets egen öl är god (jag brukar ta deras pale ale) och alla i personalen är väldigt trevliga. Tyvärr har vi ännu inte provat deras spa men vi har hört att det ska vara väldigt mysigt, så det får det bli nästa gång. På det stora hela så är alltså hotellet tillräckligt bra för att vi ska återkomma, men Gästis förtjänar inte betyget ”superbt!” direkt utan är väldigt långt därifrån.

Jag brukar inte imponeras av hotell, men måste medge att det här överträffade alla förväntningar. Så mysigr, ombonat, hemtrevligt och smakfullt.. Hit vill jag komma igen!

Utmärkt

Jeg var dybt imponeret over hotellets indretning med de mange bøger, original plakater, gammel møbler og lamper. På dansk "super hyggeligt" Morgenmaden var rigeligt og der manglede ikke noget. Eneste minus var, at vi, min kæreste på 85 og jeg boede i annekset, som ligger et 100 m på den anden side af vejen
