We love the hotel, it was a Family trip first time in Switzerland, did ski 3 days and we took the bus and the train super easy. We also rented the ski gear close by like 10 minutes from the hotel. We had a blast.

It was a challenge to find the hotel as it is located in the pedestrian area so it would help if the confirmation included information about how to access the hotel. We ended up driving around for a while. The hotel is well located in the center of the city. So it is easy to walk around town from the hotel. We stayed in Altdorf in the middle of July and the problem was that there were not a lot of options for things to do or places to eat. This is a 3 start hotel. Given all the other reviews, we thought that this was going to better than your average 3 start hotel, but it was not. It is a very good, solid 3 start hotel. As it was hot, there was a fan in the room and we were really lucky as it rained overnight and this cooled the room down a lot. Obviously, the hotel was built when you didn't need to worry about hot hotel rooms in the summer in Switzerland, but with climate change things are different.

We chose the hotel due to its proximity to the Gotthard tunnel which was beneficial especially when closed due to an accident. The restaurant was good with excellent steak and a local wine. Our room was basic but clean.

The hotel is in an excellent central location close to the William Tell square with its statue. It’s a lovely older property with a lot of character. For example the doors to the rooms are a little shorter than usual, invoking the feel of times past. It’s well maintained and clean. The breakfast is basic cereal etc. Nearby is the town square with several very good restaurants.

Swiss hospitality at its best. They gave us a free upgrade to a very nice room. Two excellent meals in friendly hotel restaurant. Convenient free parking. Central location to dining, shopping, church, walkable neighborhood. There was nothing we did not like about this hotel.

We arrived quite late in the evening and was given a room but with small windows and we booked a mountain view however the receptionist hardly spoke and understood English so we said we would speak to someone the next day. The lady we spoke to the next day couldn't be more helpful and we moved the room for the second night. We were very pleased with the hotel it was very clean and warm and the breakfast was lovely too. It is a very old building and there is a smell from the lift however we couldn't smell it from our room. There wasn't a lot to do around the area but it was a great stop off hotel. I would return just because of the service we were given.

This hotel is very convenient for a stop en route south as it is close to the motorway. The restaurant is very good. The waitress deserves a special mention for giving us bottle of chef’s home made salad dressing!

Hotel in nice location overlooking River and close to rail station. Local charge per person per night of 1.95 euro entitles you to free bus and rail transport in the black forest area, a brilliant idea!!!
