Chihpen Century Hotel

Hotel offers various interactive activities, room is clean, service is friendly, and we like the most is hotel offers staff assistance to transport luggage from the car drop off all the way to your room, saving the hassle for guests with a lot of luggages.

This was actually our second night at the hotel but on a separate booking. The second night cost only 2/3 of the first night and for the price, I would recommend staying at the hotel even with it’s downsides. But first, kudos to the check-in staff for allowing us to check-in just once and continue the stay in the same room. I’ve been to hotels that insist that we check out and re-check in because the bookings are different. Now the downsides (considering that they claim to be a 5 star hotel) - the gym is extremely small and ill-equipped (there are many better ways to make a small gym functional), the hot spring can barely be considered one (more like a hot tub), and as mentioned in my prior review, the carpark ramp is way too steep and there is no way not to scratch the front bumper lip when exiting (btw, I wasn’t driving a sports car but a Corolla Altis that only has me in it). To end off, the breakfast spread is actually pretty good.

The room was surprisingly good, spacious and comfortable. Surprisingly it has a weighing scale but lacked more basic amenities like a bottle opener. Also the wifi and TV disconnected which required us to ring the frontdesk to fix. We topped up for the buffet dinner but was frankly disappointed by the quality. I would rather be charged more and be served higher quality food. Major issue with the hotel is with the carpark. The ramp is so steep that it scratched the front bumper lip when exiting the carpark, and that is when I deliberately ask all the passengers to wait at the lobby with their luggage.

Quite enjoyable environment, friendly service, and relaxing surrounding area….

The hotel is big and the room is comfortable and spacious. However, the main attraction which is the hot spring pool is under construction for the landscaping and the location of the hot and cool pools which is out in the open is questionable. The buffet breakfast and dinner is also of low quality.

Upon check in, I lined up for my term to check in and was ignored when a couple walk right up to the counter and was helped before me. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it but I was clearly there first and the staff saw me waiting. Anyway, once check in, my room 711 had a slight hint of cigarrate odor. Someone clearly smoked in the room. I didn't ask to change the room as my parent stayed at the room next door. However, this left a bad impression immediately especially when the property claimed to be a 5 star hotel. What I liked abou the property. I like the full gym with all the different weights. The buffet breakfast was good with different choices. Final thought, I visited this hotel back in 2017/2018 and the hotel had a roof hot spring and I think it was great, relaxing and it was fun star gazing and looking at the mountains while enjoying the tranquility. This feature has unfortunately been removed.

Definitely not a 5 star. Upon arrival, no English at all at reception desk. Dirty carpet in hallways, our toilet was leaking, they came to repair immediately but next morning was the same, still leaking. Internet was not always available, nice bathtub but takes a minimum of half an hour to empty; old faucets, rust around it in sink and shower. We were also told restaurant did not serve lunch...they never told us we had to go to adjacent hotel, bed sheets and chair and sofa felt damp, not really comfortable, at the restaurant for breakfast, crooked fork, we need to ask for a replacement...

因為去台東所以有特地購買一泊二食， 但櫃檯小姐非說沒有買，過了兩天才說有買，雖然有退費但對於不熟悉觀光客來說 到處找吃的實在非常不方便。這一點很失望！

Comfortable and quite. Self laundry service is convenient. Breakfast has big variety and tasty. Many events for family.

This hotel takes huge tour group that rowdy... my son and I had to escape the hot spring after seeing some of the group dip in without taking a shower first

Shuttle bus service is very nice; after 8pm they have live band playing in the lounge (not sure if it's seasonal program though); free hot spring service on rooftop after 16pm. Room was nice and clean with mountain view. Breakfast is full of different choices, better than a lot of hotels.

Location is far into the wilderness, we rented a car so it’s not a problem for us. There is nothing to do around hotel except to enjoy the hot springs and sauna. On the other hand it is peaceful and quiet. Good breakfast selection.

The hotel is situated in a rather secluded area, very close to the hot spring. The room is clean with a green view, can enjoy onsen in your own room. Food is average as it caters for tours, and they don't serve lunch in the reataurants.

It is an excellent hotel but the walls are thin. The next door people were talking and I was able to hear them clearly. Otherwise, this is a great hotel.

The purpose of this trip is to enjoy outdoor hot spring with our 6 yr old daughter. We didn’t know that kids under 12 yr old are not allowed to use the outdoor pool until we checked in. My daughter felt very disappointed and so did we. If kids are not allowed to use the outdoor pool, please mention it on your website!

We arrived the hotel with welcoming staff helping us with belongings, parking and the wheel-chair requested for my 82 years old dad. Check-in receptionists was friendly, everything was smooth and quick. Our room is bright with modern decoration and wood floor, with double sided windows on 8th floor (817), breathtaking view at the quiet corner part of floor. Two double beds with comfortable beddings and a long body pillow (first time ever seen in a hotel is my favor) my dad loved the neck pillow in addition to standard size pillow. Thoughtful private arrangement of having hot spring soaking tub and Japanese style bidet style toilet seperate. There are good quality kimono and slippers for walking around or up to rooftop male and female hot spring spa (peaceful, clean with open air but no swimsuit allows). Welcoming rice cracker snack, bottle waters, soda, and sorted tea and coffee are all complimentary. Small refrigerator are handy. We have breakfast, lunch and dinner at the resort. Buffet style breakfast is plenty with many western and mostly Chinese style dishes. Meal time were the highlight of our stay! We had shabu shabu hot pot first night. 2nd day's lunch and dinner, chef carefully prepared every dish with care, beauty and quality in mind....each include 8 courses meals, nicely presented, tasted and best of fresh seafood (eel, shell fish, shrimp, prawn even abalone!) It was a joyful surprise when each dish presented. Highly rated 5 - star chef!
