I’ve been coming to stay at this hotel for vacations for 5 years now. I love the location — beautiful mountains, caves, a waterfall, and lakes. I want to say a special word about the hotel grounds — they’re stunning! I love walking along the shady alleys and enjoying the park views. Every year, the hotel grounds get better: a playground has appeared, as well as a pet area, and a "viewpoint" tree :) I also want to mention the landscaping — you can take romantic photos there. On this visit, a washing machine and a dryer were added, which turned out to be very useful for me, since I went on a rafting excursion :) The hotel also has a bicycle rental, but I should note that the staff helped me with my own bike — they pumped up the tires and adjusted the seat height. That was really sweet. The villa was comfortable, with a private pool and a super-comfy bed. Attaching a photo of the sunset — highly recommended.

Travel Guide: Your Journey to Bo Saen

Getting to Bo Saen and Navigating the Region

Reaching Bo Saen from the Philippines typically involves flying into a major international airport in Thailand, such as Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in Bangkok, and then taking a connecting domestic flight or ground transportation to a regional airport closer to Bo Saen. Direct flights from Manila (MNL) or Cebu (CEB) to Thailand are frequent, with airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia offering services. The total travel time, including layovers, can range from 6 to 12 hours, with flight costs varying from ₱ 8,000 to ₱ 20,000 depending on the season and booking time.

Once you arrive in Thailand, you will need to make your way to Bo Saen. Depending on the specific location of your accommodation, you might fly into a regional airport like Surat Thani Airport (URT) or Phuket International Airport (HKT) and then arrange for a bus, van, or private transfer. The journey from these airports to Bo Saen can take several hours. It is advisable to book flight tickets and onward transfers in advance to secure the best prices and ensure a smooth transition.

Navigating within Bo Saen and its surrounding areas is relatively straightforward, with a mix of local transport options available. Songthaews (shared pick-up trucks) are a common and affordable way to travel between towns and villages. The shoulder seasons, from March to May (hot season) and June to October (rainy season), can also offer good travel opportunities with fewer crowds and potentially lower prices, though the latter brings a higher chance of rain. Planning your trip around these periods will help you make the most of Bo Saen's natural beauty and cultural attractions.

Visa Information for Thailand

Entering Thailand to Visit Bo Saen

For Philippine passport holders planning a trip to Thailand to visit Bo Saen, the visa requirements are generally straightforward. Philippine citizens are typically granted visa-free entry into Thailand for tourism purposes, allowing for a stay of up to 30 days. This exemption simplifies travel planning significantly, as no prior visa application is usually necessary. However, it is crucial to ensure your passport has at least six months of validity remaining from your date of entry into Thailand.

When entering Thailand, immigration officials may request proof of onward travel, such as a return or onward flight ticket, and evidence of sufficient funds to cover your stay. While not always strictly enforced for visa-exempt nationalities, having these documents readily available can expedite the immigration process. It is always recommended to check the latest entry requirements with the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate in the Philippines before your departure, as regulations can change.

While visa-free entry is common, policies can be updated. Therefore, it is essential for all travellers, including those from the US, Europe, India, and Africa, to verify the most current visa regulations with the official immigration authorities of Thailand or their respective embassies well in advance of booking flights.
