The room was very clean and smelled wonderful. The staff provided excellent service from pick-up to check-out. It was very convenient, with a local cafe nearby and almost every convenience store in sight. Restaurants were also close by. In short, 5 stars.

The staff was okay and helpful, especially the concierge. The room was spacious enough, and the bathroom had a bathtub too, so it was a decent price performance for the room. It is located near Rajamangala Stadium, where we had a concert to attend, so it was quite convenient too. Definitely will go back staying here if we have another event in the stadium!

Travel Guide

Getting to Wang Thonglang and Getting Around

Reaching Wang Thonglang from the Philippines involves flying into Bangkok's main international airports, primarily Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) or Don Mueang International Airport (DMK). Flights from Manila (NAIA/MNL) or Cebu (CEB) typically involve one or two layovers, with total travel times ranging from 6 to 12 hours, depending on the airline and connection. Direct flights are less common for this route. The estimated cost for a round-trip ticket can vary significantly, but budget around ₱ 15,000 to ₱ 30,000, depending on the season and booking time. From the airport, Wang Thonglang is approximately a 30-45 minute drive. It is highly recommended to book flight tickets in advance for better prices.

Once you arrive in Bangkok and make your way to Wang Thonglang, navigating the district and the wider city is relatively straightforward. Public transportation is extensive and affordable. The BTS Skytrain and MRT Subway are efficient for covering longer distances, with stations accessible via a short taxi or bus ride from most parts of Wang Thonglang. Local buses are the most economical option for shorter trips within the district, though they can be crowded and routes might be confusing for first-time visitors. Taxis and ride-hailing apps like Grab are readily available, offering convenience and fixed pricing, which is often preferred by international travellers.

The best time to visit Wang Thonglang, and Bangkok in general, is during the cool and dry season, which runs from November to February. During these months, temperatures are more moderate, and humidity is lower, making it pleasant for outdoor activities and exploration. This period often coincides with peak tourist season, so expect higher hotel prices and more crowds. The hot season (March to May) can be very warm, while the rainy season (June to October) brings frequent, though usually short-lived, downpours. For budget-conscious travellers, visiting during the shoulder seasons or the rainy season can offer lower prices.

Before you depart for Wang Thonglang, ensure you have a few essentials sorted. The local currency is the Thai Baht (THB). While USD is accepted in some tourist-oriented establishments, it's best to exchange your currency for Baht upon arrival or withdraw from ATMs. Consider purchasing a local SIM card at the airport for affordable data access, which is invaluable for navigation and communication. Essential apps include Google Maps, a translation app, and ride-hailing services like Grab. Ensure your passport has at least six months of validity remaining from your intended date of departure from Thailand.

Visa Information

Visa Requirements for Philippine Passport Holders Entering Thailand

Philippine passport holders enjoy visa-free entry into Thailand for tourism purposes. This allows for stays of up to 30 days per entry when arriving by air, and 30 days when arriving via land border crossings (though this can be subject to change and stricter enforcement). It is crucial to ensure your Philippine passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay in Thailand. While visa-free, immigration officers may request proof of onward travel (a return or onward flight ticket) and sufficient funds to cover your expenses during your stay.

The application process for visa-free entry is straightforward upon arrival. You will typically complete an arrival card and present your passport to immigration. There are no visa fees for this 30-day visa exemption. However, policies can change, and it is always recommended to verify the latest regulations with the Royal Thai Embassy in the Philippines or the official Thai Immigration Bureau website before your travel dates. This proactive step ensures you are aware of any updated requirements or potential changes to the duration of stay.

While Thailand offers visa-free entry for Philippine passport holders for short tourist stays, it is imperative to confirm current regulations before booking your travel. Immigration policies can be updated without extensive notice. For longer stays or different purposes of visit, specific visa applications would be required through the Royal Thai Embassy in Manila. Always ensure you meet all entry requirements, including sufficient funds and a confirmed onward journey, to facilitate a smooth immigration process upon arrival in Thailand.
