Mali Resort Sunrise Beach

Immaculate room and grounds. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more welcoming. A great experience and somewhere I'd happily return!

A fantastic place to stay. The staff are great, the location is amazing and the pool is one of the best of any hotel I have ever stayed at. It is also great that all the equipment for water activities is free to use - kayaks, paddle boards etc. My only advice is to check the weather carefully before you go as there is not a lot to do here (or on koh lipe in general) when the weather is bad.

Hotel and staff are great. Included breakfast is nice. I enjoyed the pool and direct access to the beach. Weather was not as good as expected so I did not get to see the hotel at its peak sunny beauty. Laundry service was great. I stayed in B3 and the hot water was trickling, they fixed it right away. The mosquito screen was torn so I could not let the sliding door open. They provided snorkels, kayak, paddle and kid sand toys for free. They get you at the boat arrival and take you to the pier for departure.

We are grateful for the staff, room, restaurant, and lovely beachfront garden at Mali Resort on Sunrise Beach. However, the so called walking streets on Koh Lipe are unsafe and dirty. We saw 2 cats get run over (I was able to help 1 after it got hit), neither time did the driver stop, everyone trying to use the walking streets narrowly avoids getting hit. Walking street safet must be addressed before we would consider returning or recommending any friends travel to Koh Lipe. Travelers should know the commute between Koh Lipe and Bangkok takes an entire day and multiple legs that require prebooking. On the boat trip to the island there are 2 obligatory stops that add delay and expense, on the way back we encountered bone-jarring waves, barf bags were given to passengers that needed them, and everyone arrived soaking wet. The diving may be the best in Thailand! But snorkelers have to avoid boats crowding every beach, and fishing boats with hooks and nets compete with divers even at the most popular dive locations. A very loud party nearby kept everyone including the staff that live nearby up until after 2AM for 2 nights. Mali Resort isn't to blame for the unsafe 'walking streets' or the uncomfortable extended commute, etc., but this significantly impacts travel experience. We enjoyed diving and dining - recommend - 'On the Rocks' for dinner Mali Sunrise is great for families with children that spend their time at the resort, in the pool, and eating at the resort restaurant.

A taste of paradise. Loved our time here. Terrific restaurant on the property overlooking the turquoise waters with the friendliest staff. I hope we can make it back again soon. If you can, try to get your open water scuba certification on the island. Ten minute walk on the beach to the scuba business with also the amazing sunrise yoga with Keiritas Yoga - the best yoga on the island.

Was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Everything was perfect. Staff is great ánd very accommodating. Will help with all transport too. The restaurant and it's staff are great. The beach is beautiful. Everything is within walking distance. Very quiet area.

Beautiful resort with everything, you need. The houses are big and clean, the bathroom is enormous. Pool right outside. Located directly at the beach. The only let down are the hundreds of motor boats along the beach. But that goes for every resort along the beach

This is a lovely, clean resort with friendly staff. Decent food and drinks. Easy to walk to town. Nice beach.

Very nice stay!

We have just stayed at Mail Sunrise. We had a Balinese suite which was on the top floor of a small 2 storey block. I was under the impression we were getting a stand alone bungalow but once we entered the room I was happy! It was beautiful. Bigger than the villa bungalows and after looking around the resort I think I preferred ours. Larger and more private. The room was stunning. Large and spotless. Beautiful comfy bed, soft pillows and linen, great bathroom and large balcony. We had a fridge, pool towels and daily bottled water. The resort was nice. Breakfast offered several choices and was served 7-10.30. There are a few sun loungers on the small area outside the bar. There is no beach at high tide which makes it feel a bit tight around that area. The pool is pretty. Cleaned in the morning free of leaves etc, but in the afternoon it could have done with another sweep. Plenty of beds around the pool. Reception staff there till 5pm. After that the bar staff are around till 19pm then there is an emergency phone number. The best things for us were the room itself and the location of the resort. South end of Sunrise do less congested with people and boats. 10 mins walk to Walking Street and a motorbike taxi outside most times we wanted one. 20 min walk up Sunrise beach to Zodiac where people go to watch the sunset. Beach bars all along this route.

Loved it here and highly recommend! Was at the quieter end of Koh Lipe and the beach was lovely. Staff lovely. Clean. Great value for money. Bungalows were great. Walking distance to walking street and lots of restaurants but far enough away to enjoy the quiet! Would come back again!

Lovely place right on the beach. Room was clean and very big with a nice big balcony The pool was lovely and huge although the beach is so beautiful we didn’t use it much. The kayaks and paddle boards were free to use along with snorkels. Staff although were friendly and the service was excellent, they all looked a bit fed up at times. Breakfast was very good. My only criticism would be why would you put plastic cushions on the sunbeds? It’s lethal. we had a great stay there and would definitely recommend it.

Balinese style, walkable to walking street, restaurants and shops. Located on the sunrise beach, you can easily grab the snorkeling mask and walk into the sea and enjoy the coral reef and see a lot of fish, recommend to do it in the afternoon. Be ware of the millions mosquitos.

Very clean and well maintained, highly recommended! The beach is only a minute walk through some trees and the views are amazing there throughout the entire day. They also provide transportation from the pier to the hotel which makes it 100x easier to get from the pier to airport. Staff is very nice and the hotel provides a lot of the necessities to stay there like towels, toiletries, and etc. Again, highly recommended this hotel!

Not biggest and fanciest or priciest, but very comfortable and decent mid price value for money. Would visit again no problem

We had a very positive experience at Mali Sunrise. They picked us up at the immigration arrival point on the main beach. The checkin was very quick and smooth. We were given the room I asked for on the 2nd floor. The room is very spacious with a big and comfortable king bed and a big sofa. They added a single bed for my daugther with a proper thick mattress. The bathroom is also big with a big shower and absolutely no bad smell. There is a TV, but we didn't use it, a mini fridge filled with water bottles. Plenty of space to put your stuff. The balcony is big with 2 chairs and a little table and a practical hanger. The pool is super nice, very cosy and esthetic. The water is quite warm. The garden is very well maintained. The bar/ restaurant at the beach is simple, but cosy and clean. They serve good quality food all day long till 730pm, so it's good for an early dinner, but if you want to eat later, you need to go to the 'walking street' which is at 10m' walking distance. In the morning they serve breakfast at the bar. You can order as much as you like. They have different options, the sandwiches and the muesli are super good. They also offer pancakes, fruit, fried rice, etc... We were very satisfied both with the quality and the quantity offered. They don't have a private beach, but they are at one end of the beautiful Sunrise beach, so it's a quiet corner with a limited amount of Thai boats in front. In front there is a tiny island, where you can snorkel
