Pak Chiang Mai is a great place to stay in Chiang Mai. Located in the Old City, it is slightly away from the Tha Phae Gate (east gate) hustle and bustle, but still within easy walking distance of lots of restaurants. The hotel is charming and built in a Lannathai style. Breakfast is prepared with great care with fresh juices, fruit, coffee and made to order entrees. Bottled water in glass or plastic bottles is free and readily available, and the staff is very gentle and accommodating. We recommend staying in a larger second floor room. Great places to eat nearby are The Faces Gallery that is across the street, Munchies for vegan snacks and the Reform Kafé at the Green Tiger house. Also, be sure to check out the eclectic jazz on two floors of the North Gate Jazz Co-op.

The rooms are crafted modestly, traditionally, and in a sophisticated manner. The common spaces are also quite well-curated. No televisions, hairdryers, and internet in my room (#12) was basically non-existent as I needed to rely on my own phone data. The location is great and walkable to all of the cute and curated experiences the Old Town of Chiang Mai has to offer.

Pros—staff was very conscientious with their work. Very clean; breakfasts tasty and good presentation; front desk tried to be helpful Location good for street food and sat nt mkt. and songteau transport. Close by wat for cheap clean massage. Bakery walking distance. Ambiance and decor felt very authentic—ponds, flora, wooden swings, elevated seating and lounge areas. Cons—nice to have tea in afternoon but best to just leave pots downstairs available to pick up rather than waking up napping guests. Mosquitos but they are hard to avoid in Thailand. Might be best not to have standing water lily planters in upstairs level.

This place was an amazing value for the price. Beautiful and relaxing garden / relaxation area, nice and clean rooms, tea and cookies left for me in the afternoon, and great breakfast. They also comped me one night when my flight delays led me to miss my first night there, even though it was after the cancellation window. Great location, too. Really I couldn't have found anything better for this amount of money.
