We had a 2 double beds room with lake view. The room was huge and the views were wonderful. The location is excellent -right on Michigan Avenue and near Grant and Millennium parks and public transportation.

AS A CHICAGO NATIVE, FAMILIAR WITH WHAT I STILL CALL THE PICK-CONGRESS, I WAS FAMILIAR WITH IT. I ESPECIALLY LIKED THE CONVENIENCE OF ITS LOCATION AT MICHIGAN AND JACKSON, CLOSE TO BOTH THE EL AND THE ILLINOIS CENTRAL -- OOPS, METRA -- COMMUTER LINES. THE SERVICE AND STAFF WERE EXCELLENT AND THE DINING OPTIONS WERE REASONABLE (YOU SHOULD SEE SOME OF THE 'COMPETITION;' NOT REASONABLE AT ALL). AND I FOR ONE FELT VERY SAFE WALKING IN THE LOOP. Unfortunately, the rooms are not able to be cooled or heated individually and the central temperature was very hot for this particular weekend in May. The solution was to open the window (only one would open with the assistance of maintenance) and bring a fan. This opened the room to street noise and city air. Also, we got stuck downtown and needed to extend our check out time but after repeatedly calling the desk, the operator and a few other numbers I could never get through. Although this location is great, I think I’ll choose somewhere else next time

The check in was odd, the first person that checked me in, when I said I had reservations from Expedia and 1) gave me some attitude, 2) They were going to give me a room with no lake view when my booking had lake view, and were like show me the booking, so the communication between Expedia and the hotel is not that great.
The room walls are thinner than the toilet paper they provide. I can hear other people's tv, music and initimate times, so not really great for that.
The location is good right in front of Lake Michigan qnd walkable to the park in front of it.
Parking is attrocious in Chicago and the hotel partners with a parking garage for $69 a night. Skip that and got 7th St Parking garage just a couple of blocks away.

Location of this hotel is easily a 10/10, however, property is super old. I get that it has history but the bed is super hard and there’s no heat or AC just an old fan inside the room. Something to consider when booking for sure.

This hotel is dated, but they have clean rooms and it’s centrally located on the loop. There are several dining options within walking distance. I took the train everywhere because the train station is relatively close to here.
