Holiday Inn Express & Suites CUMBERLAND - LA VALE by IHG, an IHG Hotel

Worst a holiday inn I stayed in as I crossed the country in seven days. Definitely not a $200+ dollar a night hotel, more like $120. Broken tiles, scuffed walls, stale carpets…just terrible.

Front desk were very welcoming and friendly. Rooms were very clean.

Fire alarm testing for 4 hours. Child was running up and down the floor in room above us, manager couldn’t control it. Workers cleaning rooms and talking outside room door.

Average hotel.

Very nice hotel. Room was very ciean, employees friendly and breakfast was good.

Overnight stay. Bed comfortable.

The only thing good about this stay was the breakfast and the heated spa. The supposedly heated pool was not heated like advertised. I was eaten by bed bugs.

Too noisy

I’ve stayed at many Holiday Inn Expresses. Generally, they’re decent for the price. This one was not. The tile floor in the entry way and bathroom was uniformly sticky—so much so that I could feel and hear my shoes sticking to the floor with every step. It was so uniform that if must have been caused by some strange cleaner, not by a spill or missed spot. Neither of us felt like walking on it in bare feet and were glad we brought slippers. The fixtures and finishes are old and tired looking. The bathroom has no nightlight, and the bathroom door won’t stay ajar to let just a little light out through the night. The blackout curtains also won’t fully close, so brilliant floodlights from the parking lot shone in all night. That was all on top of Expedia using deceptive pricing displays on its website (showed price reduced to $103/night plus taxes and fees) and then again on the room selection page before showing a higher price ($139) at final checkout—meaning $158 after taxes and fees. By contrast, I’m staying tonight at a beautiful, sleek, CLEAN hotel in DC tonight for $101, including taxes and fees.

Staff

The staff was amazing! Super kind & helpful! The hotel was really easy to find and get into/out of. It was located by a main road & convenient to restaurants, shops, & gas station. However, the property felt like it was older & they tried to refurbish over it. The area was a bit noisy at night.

Rooms were nice, pool was clean, hot tub is just a hot tub wish it had jets!!! Breakfast is typical hotel breakfast so ok there. Friendly staff

Staff at this location were excellent!

The individual that checked us in was very nice and helpful! The room was mostly clean, though we did find a vape from a previous customer. The king size bed was nice and comfortable, though a little stiff side. The sofa bed was very uncomfortable, but most are. There was a large selection of breakfast items such as cheese omelets, egg white and veggie omelets, yogurt, cereal, pancakes, sausage links, bacon, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, pastries, juice, coffee, and water. We felt safe at the hotel and enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall the stay was good.

Comfy beds

There were lots of people sitting in their cars and smoking marijuana in the parking lot when we arrived at 11 pm. I felt a bit unsafe with so many people hanging around the hotel.
