Independent (SPHC) THE MANHATTAN AT TIMES SQUARE by IHG, an IHG Hotel

Hotel staff was very polite and professional. The hotel itself needs a big refresh. Wallpaper was peeling, electrical fixtures were probably circa 1970, and all shiny surfaces had stains from time and care. Hallways were in clean but bad shape. The area is pretty loud, so be prepared for that as well. The only unforced error in my stay was missing shampoo. I'm not sure if they stopped refilling the liquid body soap dispensers in favor of bar soaps, but that was empty as well.

I visited the manhattan at Times Square last week with my cousin and we two women in our younger 20s, traveled on a redeye over 6 hours to NYC. This was by far the worse hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Upon arrival we had asked to use the bathroom to change out of our airport clothes since our room was not going to bed ready for at least another 8 hours but we could call to see if there was a room ready if we left the hotel. Of course we left since there were two small couches in the “lobby”. There was no available bathroom to use, we were told to go across the street and use another hotels bathroom. The service when we first got there felt off. We asked if they were able to hold our bags, and were reassured they would be put in a safe room but not after begging for a tip. We walked around for hours and were starting to get tired so I tried calling the hotel, they hadn’t picked up for over an hour and a half but I was finally able to get ahold of someone and they stated our room was ready. We hurried back to the hotel to get checked in, when we arrived our bags were in the hallway right where we left them and were not put in a secure room. Going up to our room two of the elevators were out of service so we had to wait what seemed like forever at the time. Throughout our whole time the elevators were an issue. We finally made it up to our room, and the door lock was not intact, which didn’t make us feel comfortable. The room was extremely old and dirty from years of grime build up.

Need a restaurant and outside seating

The room was nothing like it was portrayed. Carpet was dirty and smelly, furniture needs an urgent upgrade. Bathtub was broken, no A/C or fan and bed was uncomfortable. I requested a refund when we saw that it was a misleading advertisement to move to another hotel, but they never responded. Terrible experience.

The property had bed bugs!! The staff was incredibly unprofessional and dismissive, denying the report until they found them. Did nothing to accommodate or apologize.

It's a property that is definitely showing its age.

The room was nothing like the one you advertised. We were very disappointed. They told us we could have the room you showed in your ad for an extra charge.

Because of the reviews, I was hesitate to book. We had 4 nights and we were very happy with our room. The property is undergoing a refurbish, but we weren’t inconvenienced. Loved the proximity to time square and top views our chosen hop on, hop off bus operator.

A convenient location, but the hotel is currently undergoing needed renovations. This hotel is popular with school groups, so the atmosphere might be more hectic than people want. I just needed a decent bed at night at a decent price, so it suited my needs.

Great location, bellmen excellent, lobby old, not enough seating, always busy. Remodeled rooms good, others not so good. No mini fridges in rooms.

Paper thin walls. Slow elevators. But location is great.

This place was horrible and the pictures don’t correlate to what it really looks like.

Where do I start, they gave us keys to a room that was already occupied so we had to go back down to get a new room. Half the elevators didn’t work. The bathroom door didn’t close. The blinds were broken, the fridge smelled, there were bugs in our bathroom. You could hear everything from the rooms next to us. One good thing was the beds were comfortable.

Dirty, the staff never offered any hospitality. When me and my friend were at the front of the hotel with our belongings, no one offered to even open the door.

Very noisy room and hallways. Staff at check-in was disinterested. Late check in.

The staff at The Manhattan at Times Square Hotel was great and the room was very nice, spacious, and comfortable for our family's trip to New York City for my Niece/God Daughter's concert at Carnegie Hall. Thank you for helping us have a great trip at a nice hotel.

The room is was nothing like the photos, our sink was leaking out of the hot knob and spraying out at you standing in front of the sink. The water never got hot when washing hands. The beds were soft and very bouncy. It was convenient to be close to Times Square but for the price was expecting a much better hotel than what it was.

You guys took my money twice for one room and now my account is negative. I came into your hotel and paid for 1 room now this weekend I have no money and have to wait until I give a dispute claim to my bank ! You guys are idiots !!
