I have stayed at the Marcus Whitman a few times but it's been a while. I was very pleased to see that it is as good or even better than I experienced before. As an Expedia VIP, I received a free bottle of wine! As a guest, I received a credit to the in-house dining facilities and that makes all the difference. When I visit Walla Walla again, I will definitely choose the MW as my first option.

I had high hopes for the Marcus Whitman Hotel given its reputation and historic charm, but unfortunately, my stay left much to be desired.
While the property boasts a grand lobby and a central location in Walla Walla and this was accurate, the actual accommodations were underwhelming. The room felt dated and lacked the freshness and attention to detail you’d expect from a hotel at this price point.
The biggest issues, however, were cleanliness and air quality. There were a few ants in the room and no cleaning service on Saturday’s. Even worse, there was a lingering smoke smell that permeated the space and clung to my clothes, despite being in a non-smoking room. It was off-putting and gave the impression that the room hadn’t been properly aired out or deep cleaned in some time.
Overall, while the historic allure of the hotel is still there, the experience didn’t live up to expectations.

Rooms in the connected building (not the old hotel) are small and not very well kept up. Shower stall was really dirty. Exterior doors don’t lock or require a key card, so some questionable security.

Loved this historic property and would stay here again. There were several small maintenance items that have been overlooked and really should be addressed. For example: falling ceiling plaster in the reception area, the broken outlet cover in our double queen, room, the mold and mildew around the bathtub, the unglued wallpaper coming off in the bathroom, an unfilled Kleenex supply. Not to complain too much, but there was a lot of attention to detail that really needed some attention.

The hotel is stunning. I don’t think I realized check in time was very late, 4 pm. Not industry standard and we were forced to wait around the lobby with a 1 year old until the room was ready. The hallway and common spaces leading over to the non-tower rooms are musty and dated. But the room itself was very nice and well appointed even though the bathroom was tiny. We really enjoyed getting to go wine tasting to different vendors right inside the lobby. We also loved the downtown location. We will stay here again

The lobby area and restaurant are very beautiful. However, the room was just ok. The carpeting in the hallways and room are very outdated. The mattress and sheets were uncomfortable. I don't think the room was worth the price.
The service was excellent with very friendly staff.

The Whitman charges a premium compared to the other hotels in the area and the Whitman is a very nice property. We were there for a two night stay. As we left the property the first morning I asked if housekeeping was provided every day. I was told that it was not provided every day unless I asked for it. So, I asked for it. Returned to the room at 5pm and no housekeeping. Housekeeper showed up at 6-ish. This is unacceptable. If you are not going to offer housekeeping you should tell me when I made the reservation. You had no problem telling me I'm paying $23 per night for an amenity fee. Once I requested the service, it should have been provided in a more timely manner. Nice hotel. Breakfast service at the hotel is very nice

The lobby area and restaurant are very beautiful. However, the room was just ok. The carpeting in the hallways and room are very outdated. The mattress and sheets were uncomfortable. I don't think the room was worth the price.
