I booked at this property thinking it was the Lodge at the state park, It is deceiving since they have very similar names. Upon arrival my key was in the door to my room and the clerk who checked me in was pleasant enough but i am assuming he lives on the property and you could see his living quarters, dog ( I think a pit bull in tow). Room was small, old and dirty. There were hairs in the bed and one small bug, like a gnat. I killed one more on the nightstand. There was a musty smell to the room. The lock on the door was very flimsy, like you would have on an interior door in your home. So safety was an issue. There was a coffee pot in the lobby and I ask upon check in if there would be coffee in the am. He said yes, there was not. The cost of the room was $121 through hotels.com. i would never return.

Good price for what you're getting. This is a cheap motel but it was clean and ice cold air conditioning during a very hot four days. No complaints here.

Walked in to find that the blinds were broken/missing, so no privacy. Then noticed the sink was disgusting. Silverware stuck in air unit. Sheets had black dots under them. Bug feces or eggs maybe? Bugs (roaches) on bathroom floor and in bath. Immediately took the key back to the office and drove the 2 hours home. Not worth the cheaper price to sleep in filth. Definitely spend the extra money and try to stay at the Hatfield in Leitchfield or at Rough River Dam instead. We had this place booked for a week for 4th of July also. Just canceled that. Glad we found out how awful it is before then. The owner/office manager was nice. He had given us fresh towels at check-in. When we took the key back, he did ask if he could do anything, but there was no rehabilitating what we had seen. Fun fact also: pool is inoperable. And no WiFi was available. Along with no cellphone service (at least through AT&T) at the motel. So, the info on Hotels.com is inaccurate. It’s a greater disappointment, because this motel has so much potential for providing accommodations for those visiting Rough River. It’s unfortunate that it is not, at the very least, clean.
