We stayed here for 5 nights on our honeymoon after really wanting to switch off from our home/work lives in Aus. The transit and connection to the island was smooth and dropped us on the beach where staff greeted us and we checked in. The resort was clean and tidy with workers about all days. The room was large open and bright and turned over each day. The food was great, we had fresh seafood from the fisherman and amazing beef from a nearby island. There isn’t a lot to do locally on this island though it is worth a walk to the coffee plantation on a Saturday morning for local brewed coffee. Tours on Santo are easily arranged and a quick trip over to the tour last by boat was gladly arranged by the staff. It was worth the trip to champagne beach and port olry and a swim in the blue holes.
The stay was perfect for us. This isn’t a 5 star resort full of amenities and toys but that’s exactly what we were looking for. Our day was pretty much wake early, enjoy the still morning water , take a kayak out into the bay and snorkel on the beautiful reefs and sunbake on the sand. A late swim and a snooze then back to the nakamal for a beer and a great dinner with dessert.
Worth a trip back.
We have had such a great stay in this boutique island resort!! The beach huts are great- comfy beds and pillows and very spacious. The garden is lovely and both paths and beach raked daily. The resort is beachfront so you can jump in whenever for a swim in crystal clear water or use the kayaks, paddle boards and snorkels to explore the awesome reef and fish literally just off the beach!
Mark and Vira were such great hosts- great for a chat and laugh and happy to organise any tours for us or whisk up an island cocktail for us whilst listening to great tunes in their cool beach bar.
The thing that blew us away the most was the food!!! WHOA!! A very French-infused menu made for some of the tastiest meals we have ever eaten!! Fresh local lobster, prawns, crabs, fish and steak that you would pay a fortune for back in Aus were extremely reasonable and just soo good!
We can't wait to come back for more island relaxing and eating at this awesome resort and thank Mark for such a great holiday!
If you are looking for a place to get away from it all, but want to swim, snorkel, kayak, laze about, enjoy great food, beautiful location and welcoming people, then this is it!
I had doubts about going mid January, but the breeze comes into the bay in the morning and stays all day, with a view you don't get tired off and reef at your doorstep.
Easy enough to get to Santo for any tours, and of course Aore Island has it's own attractions too.
Two Canoes staff were fantastic, we felt pampered as soon as we arrived.
Tropical breakfast, blackboard menu for lunch and dinner (multi options), the most awesome local Aore Island coffee.
Bungalows are lovely and have all you need.
Thank you to Vira and his team for making our break away a wonderful experience.
